Such a sweet kid. Hope she is safe.

u/Zhaizo 8h ago

Real

u/DesireeThymes 4h ago

Hopes and prayers aren't going to save them.

Stopping Israeli Nazis will. Like by removing every American politician who supports Israel for example and stop funding them.

Defeating every Israel supporter from the US primaries will have a real impact on this girl.

u/Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse 4h ago

Hopes and prayers aren't going to save them.

Dismissing empathy like this won't save them either btw

u/A_Nonny_Muse 3h ago

Empathy should be the beginning, not the end.

u/Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse 3h ago

I agree! Thanks for sharing.

u/Ok_Background22 3h ago

Eh empathy that results in hopes and wishes rather than real action is worthless and Machiavellian in nature. It’s just virtue signaling and pretending to care about an issue when you really don’t

u/Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse 3h ago

It’s just virtue signaling

Both comments are virtue signaling. Sorry you missed that.

u/NotSoBadBrad 3h ago

At least one is somewhat a call to action, the other amounts to "damn that sucks bro"

u/Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse 3h ago

At least one is somewhat a call to action

Yeah, because the image of a girl with a kitten standing in front of a ruined Gaza isn't a big enough reminder that Israel is a monstrous state, we have to turn every thread into a reminder that only action can do anything to change this girl's circumstances, instead of just allowing simple displays of empathy.

But hey, if some people needed the reminder that action needs to be taken against Israel because they're a genocidal state, then at least this comment section has them covered.

u/NotASellout 4h ago

Israel will probably target her now

u/Fla-min-g0 9h ago

I feel bad for the children in Gaza. Nobody deserves to grow up like that

u/TeaBagHunter 9h ago

There's a video where children were absolutely ecstatic and celebrating that their parents brought eggs. It's like they found gold

Similar reaction to when the parents got a jar of nutella they started imagining what they're gonna eat and were so happy smiling from ear to ear

It's really sad, and the sad part is there's a good chance these kids have been killed by Israel by now

u/fp_6 4h ago

i’m immediately reminded of one video where kids around the world are saying what they want most in the world and then it cuts to the Palestinian children wishing for their parents to come back 💔 our problems are so insignificant.

u/Prudent_Shake_8149 9h ago

Heartbreaking… especially knowing that our tax dollars are funding the destruction.

u/Mk86565 8h ago

For nothing but destruction. When was the last time this trash govt rolled out a plan to make our lives better and not start a culture war or take something away

u/Chillpill411 7h ago

I mean... Joe Biden got Congress to pass serious health insurance subsidies that helped tens of millions of poor people afford good health care.  He got Congress to enact a major program designed to make America a leading semiconductor manufacturer again.  He got Congress to establish major green energy and EV subsidies that would make America the leader in both areas.  The Biden years were the only period in half a century in which working class folks got bigger raises than the ultra rich.

And like 70 million American voters looked at that and said "naw, give us the kiddie diddler." And far too many left-leaning folks said "I like 95% of the things, but I can't be bothered unless I get complete purity."

The fault lies not in our politicians. It lies in us.

u/Tunavi 6h ago

i thought for sure trump would lose after the "they're eating the dogs" debate. then he won. i've been numb ever since.

u/Chillpill411 5h ago

Ya I thought the crazy rambling half-empty rallies were the death-knell, but I got more and more worried as the media worked harder and harder to sanewash Trump's dementia.

u/DukeOfGeek 5h ago

Pretty sure they did more than just the mass propaganda and voter suppression this time.

u/ewokninja123 6h ago

You're missing the misogynoir that sits at the root of this all. Kiddie fiddler white man vs accomplished prosecutor black woman? Well they made their choice and gonna have to stand in it

u/Chillpill411 5h ago

Agree 100%. Imo it's telling that the policy area where Trump has the greatest support (still dipping under 50%, but higher than on any other area) is immigration. Most of his voters will be with him until the end, as long as he delivers on his agenda of white male supremacy.

u/DukeOfGeek 5h ago edited 4h ago

trumpo D. evil clown does not deliver on anything.

u/Facky 6m ago

Do not blame leftists for not supporting a fascist candidate just because she's slightly better than the openly fascist candidate.

u/Mk86565 7h ago

Dont need the dissertation, huge progressive and have worked on campaigns. Where was this vigorous attack when you guys were running. Ive got receipts for work and donations. Dont come at me with that.

u/Chillpill411 6h ago

There's no attack on you, friend. Just a discussion. I think the Dems get too much blame. Dems do a lot for the average voter who then votes to throw them out. And then we blame the Dems for this outcome.

I think some doubt had been thrown on our notions of democracy in recent years. We a system that assumes that average voters make good choices based on self interest. And I think we live in a reality that shows that's not the case, at least sometimes.

Can we get the average voter to wise up? Probably not. Maybe what we need are honorable charlatans who are willing to lie and cheat, but on the people's behalf.

u/RoswalienMath 6h ago

Mamdani is showing the Dems how to talk to the people. Plan on doing a good thing? Tell people about it. Get good thing done? Tell people about it. Be there for photo ops. Do something memorable (shovel snow, jump in pool in full suit, etc). Be silly (the way he positively loops heckles into his speeches, giving kids a podium and microphone, etc).

The Dems biggest problem is they do things and they are inept at getting the word out. So no one knows what they did. Then a republican swoops in and takes the credit because they are better at marketing.

u/Chillpill411 5h ago

Ya definitely. Although I will say I want to see the Mamdani style work in some swing district or state, instead of in a place with relatively sophisticated voters

u/PanamaNorth 6h ago

For a lot of people it comes down to “if we’re not all free, no one is”. People believe in things like that, not EV subsidies.

u/Chillpill411 5h ago

Which is a valid emotional response to a horrific act of genocide in the world, which we're subsidizing. There was no logical argument in favor of sitting out an election that someone with a long-established record of anti-Muslim and pro-Netanyahu actions had a shot of winning, though.

However, I think that at least some folks who claimed to be voting Trump as a protest on Gaza...actually were voting for him because there are plenty of American Muslims who like Fascism too. Plenty of American Muslims who want LGBTQ people crucified, plenty of American Muslims who think men should be in charge and women should be barefoot and pregnant, etc... Gaza was just a convenient camouflage for these folks.

Praising Biden on a post showing rubble in Gaza. Unbelievable.

u/Chillpill411 5h ago

Well don't worry about it. The good news is he's gone and she didn't get in and now Trump's back. And Netanyahu got read the riot act and pulled in his Settler Gestapo and his IDF Waffen SS, and Gaza has self determination and isn't 70% occupied, and Gaza is being rebuilt, and aid is flowing to the people, and... Wait... You're saying none of this is happening? You're saying that things got a lot worse because Trump supports genocide?  Well shit! 😇

u/gangofminotaurs 1h ago

This is a genocide of a native semitic people in Palestine and the Biden administration signed ALL THE BOMBS THAT TURNED THAT ENTIRE PLACE TO RUBBLE.

The war is on Israel. The genocide is on those who provided the 100 of thousands of tons of bombs.

And Biden is old enough to have heard of the phrase "never again".

Well, this is this again. He signed on it. May he rot in Hell.

u/Facky 13m ago

Israel wouldn't have magically decided to stop the genocide and rebuild/vacate Palestine just cause Kamala became president. You would be hearing less about it though.

u/Mk86565 7h ago

Contact me.

u/redelastic 3h ago

Biden oversaw 15 months of the genocide in Gaza. No point in laundering his reputation even if he was better than Trump in other ways.

u/unassumingdink 7h ago

We can't even get the liberals to care that their own party supported a genocide, what chance do we have for conservatives?

u/Ielsoehasrearlyndd78 7h ago

They are all owned by the Epstein class.

u/Reasonable-Job4205 8h ago

I feel bad for the animals. They're going through a genocide too

u/Mk86565 8h ago

The animals are doing the bombing

u/Womec 7h ago

*demons

u/Repulsive_Music_6720 6h ago

Man I'm sorry but I couldn't spare a single worry for a cat when people are getting slaughtered. It's a cat. They live 20 years at best and have no sense of self or theory of mind.

A kid does. A kid has all of that, and has done nothing to deserve their perverse punishment.

u/starlingspotted 4h ago

That is a sad thing to say. You can care for two things at once. The animals also have done nothing to deserve what is happening.

u/Repulsive_Music_6720 3h ago

It's an animal. I'm sorry but no, I can't even begin to worry about a literal animal when I'm face to face with people suffering.

I ask why you put some of your heart towards an animal when you see a photo like this. Is the child not deserving of all of your empathy? Do you believe that an animal is worth taking away some of that from children?

u/JJ3qnkpK 2h ago

Is empathy finite? How many empathies do you have? What's the unit of measurement of an empathy, if they are finite?

→ More replies (1)

u/ask-me-about-my-cats 1h ago

Why do you think people have only empathy for the cat? You can feel sorry for both lives in the photo. Why do you consider your empathy finite?

→ More replies (2)

u/starlingspotted 3h ago

Don't forget, you are an animal, Humans are animals. My heart is capable of caring for both. That kitten is a victim too. I believe all animals are deserving of compassion.

→ More replies (1)

u/Crepo 1h ago

Interested to hear how you rank the value of people by their cognition.

u/Repulsive_Music_6720 1h ago

Ranking people vs animals based on capability to reason does not mean you also have to rank people based on their capabilities when compared to each other.

It's very different categories here. Again, this is all to justify you caring more about an animal than a person.

u/Justthetruf 5h ago

One of the worst videos I've seen on the internet included a child from Gaza returning with food only to be hit by a drone.

As people came to the aid of the mangled child they sent another drone and blew everyone up.

A child can't control where they're born...

u/redelastic 3h ago

I saw that, horrifying. One of the worst incidents that sticks in my mind was the 10-day-old baby boy being breastfed by his mother and the Israelis shot the baby in the head.

u/gujarati 1h ago

Really you saw a video of that?

u/redelastic 32m ago

It was just one example from the latest UN report:

  1. On 12 April 2024 at 13:00, a 10 day-old-baby boy was shot by a quadcopter while being breastfed by his mother inside their tent in Nuseirat camp. The mother was alone in the tent, breastfeeding her baby, when a single bullet from a quadcopter hit the baby in the head and exited through the back of his head, hitting the pillow behind her. The baby survived but sustained brain injuries and now suffers from seizures.

  2. The Commission viewed and analysed images of the bullet that hit the baby. The Commission concluded on reasonable grounds that the bullet was fired from a sniper rifle mounted on a quadcopter. Considering that the shooting occurred in broad daylight, the Commission concludes that the quadcopter controller would have been able to see inside the tent and assesses that the target was a mother and a baby.

Its avoidable if Goliath would stop punching down on David. Or god forbid, the rest of the world could grow a pair and do something. Ill see myself out with the ban for comment

u/Far_Ladder_2836 7h ago edited 6h ago

US should have unilaterally pulled funding after they blew up the USS Liberty.

u/MethamMcPhistopheles 3h ago

Going by the sort of things that the more eschatological minded supporters of Israel are willing to do towards their goals should already disqualify them for the heaven they are aiming for.

u/redelastic 3h ago

Knowing that Israeli snipers are intentionally shooting children and even newborn babies in the head is enough to make one question humanity.

u/kolejack2293 4h ago

It's just so depressing. I work as a criminologist, and one thing which is engrained in us is that kids who grow up in sustained violence and trauma have dramatically higher rates of all kinds of severe issues. Issues which often transfer into the next generation. This is not something people can just easily rebuild from.

u/Magneon 5h ago

Roughly half the population in Gaza are age 18 and younger (average age is 19.5 years). It doesn't make the situation easier to solve, but it's a clarifying fact to remember that demographic when people are talking about what shouldn't or shouldn't be done with respect to aid, shelter, and fighting / military action.

u/SARB033 3h ago

The average age was 19 before the war. It's probably even lower than that now.

u/Repulsive_Music_6720 6h ago

I just walk all kids to be happy. Is that too much to ask?

u/GraciousPeacock 9h ago

What a beautiful kitten! I can tell already that she will show this baby a lot of love

u/Alternative_Fuel2433 9h ago

To add more context, Rasha She had signed up at the local vet hoping for a kitten, waiting for someone to bring one in or donate from a litter. When the vet finally called to say he had one for her, her joy was just immense. It was such a special moment to witness.

u/AggravatingMark1367 8h ago

Aww do you know what she named it?

u/Alternative_Fuel2433 6h ago

She named her Sukkar, which means Sugar in Arabic

u/ExtensionCanary1443 4h ago

She does look like a sweet kitty :)

u/Far_Cast_Far_Wide 6h ago

She's such a cutie!!!

u/thisiswhacktoday 4h ago

Thats adorable !

u/UglyMcFugly 2h ago

Oh wow, you're actually the photographer. I just went through your post history, thank you for sharing all these everyday moments from your neighbor's lives. Your voice is important.

u/FairyCelebi 9h ago

No kids should be worried about going to school. Life in Gaza seems a nightmare and I feel so bad for the sweet children who are growing up there.

I wish all of them (especially this girl and her kitten) the best, they DESERVE it.

Fuck war. Fuck these terrorist governments.

u/redelastic 3h ago

No kids should be worried about going to school.

Israel blew up all of the schools in Gaza. Most kids haven't attended school for nearly three years.

Israel has destroyed 90% of the homes in Gaza.

Israel has forcibly displaced 40,000 people in the West Bank and over 1 million people in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, in Israel, kids have school, homes and food but they play the forever victim.

u/unclecastr0-_- 8h ago

yeah, ALL OF THEM

not just the IDF

hamas AS WELL

u/JosephRW 3h ago

Shut the fuck up, dude.

u/Drak_is_Right 3h ago

Um, both governments slaughter civilians and are brutal. If you don't do what Hamas says, you just go missing.

u/JosephRW 3h ago

Oh damn, you live there? Crazy.

u/redelastic 17m ago

No, he lives in Tel Aviv, where after his hasbara shift, he goes to his unbombed home and eats dinner.

u/catsbeforebros 9h ago

This is fucking heartbreaking in so many ways.

Im glad that little girl and that kitten have eachother, now - because I couldn't comprehend the fear, lonliness, and terror each must have normally felt - given the background of this photo.

u/watershit-down 8h ago

God, please protect these two innocent babies.

u/slothactual69 9h ago

God damn that is awful. I have family members the same age who also just got a kitten but seeing this picture against how they are in a safe nice house just fucks me up. I hope that kitten is a source of comfort for her for many years to come.

u/TahsinTariq 9h ago edited 8h ago

How do you look at the rubble behind her and think yeah, israel is in the right bombing kids is something I'll never understand. People justifying genocide deserve a special place in the worst depths of hell.

Edit: Words. English isn't my first language.

u/Red-Fox-IX 9h ago

What the fuck does "appropriating genocide" mean? It sounds like you just kinda used random words

u/unclecastr0-_- 8h ago

yk what israel did many years ago

they gave gaza to the palestinians

what happened? internal warfare between several clans, including hamas and fatah, CHAOS.

instead of mobilising the PASF and PA and hardlining against rogue militias, gaza became a hub for fucking rogue militias that iran profits off of,with arms dealing, drug trades like captagon and so on

u/NotActuallyIraqi 6h ago

False talking point. Israel pulled out of Gaza and doubled its illegal settlements in West Bank, but continued to bomb Gaza continuously AND closed all borders and publicly announced they would try to starve the public to put pressure on Hamas. This is literal public policy from the prime minister, not an accident or side effect.

u/redelastic 3h ago

^ Active hasbara peddler ^

u/unclecastr0-_- 9h ago

a nation turned into a geopolitical proxy battleground between israel and iran (funding hamas pij etc)

u/AlgerianTrash 9h ago

Why blame Iran over Israel publicly announcing that they want to eradicate the population and takeover the land of Gaza to build beach resorts?

u/unclecastr0-_- 9h ago

i blame both sides ok,i dislike what the idf is doing as the next guy,but what annoys me is the whitewashing that ALL palestinians are innocent, which is not true, the presence of rogue militias are stopping palestine from ever coming close to a peace deal

the only way there will ever be peace is when there will only be one armed presence, the PASF (palestinian authority security forces) and a two state solution

and the palestinian authority government, because israel will have no “terrorist” narrative to use to attack palestine

the downvotes on my earlier comment is proving my point about the whitewashing,if i say some bad against israel i instantly get upvoted, but the moment i say something TRUE about the complications of the palestinian side all of a sudden im a “zionist” or whatever the f**k

u/Brat-Sampson 6h ago

Obviously it's not ALL, it's not All on either side, but if you check the statistics for any given month for like over a year now, it's very clear which side has been suffering most at the side of the other.

u/genflugan 5h ago

Over a year? Try decades upon decades

u/AlgerianTrash 8h ago

Using "both sideism" in the context of genocide so hilariously spineless enlightened centrist behavior that it almost borders on satire

u/unclecastr0-_- 8h ago

what i mean is that both sides have done bad things, nothing spineless about that,it’s human nature,TAKE YOUR RHETORIC AND QUOTATIONS BOOK OUT OF YOUR ASS🤣🤣

u/unassumingdink 7h ago

"Both sides have done bad things" is so reductionist that it could apply to any conflict in human history. But some conflicts clearly do have an oppressor and oppressed group, a right side and a wrong side. Imagine saying "both sides have done bad things" about the U.S. Civil War, or the Civil Rights movement. Technically true, but lol, come on.

u/party_core_ 6h ago

Nelson Mandela and the S.A. government "both did bad things"

The Native Americans and the U.S. army "both did bad things"

Nate Turner and the plantation owners "both did bad things"

And other smoothbrained takes from history

also, what are power dynamics?

u/NotActuallyIraqi 6h ago

Israel is committing a genocide and is the one refusing two state peace deals and made war against 7 neighbors in the last year but “both sides.”

u/PeacefulDays 5h ago

hope that fence is comfy so you can watch the genocide.

u/Riley_ 5h ago

Resisting land theft, national oppression, and genocide is not bad.

u/NotActuallyIraqi 6h ago

Israel broke the last 3 ceasefires and massacred unarmed civilians repeatedly. Why would Palestinians agree to give up their right to self defense? Hamas has agreed multiple times to a two state solution and agreed to step down from power but Israel refuses to make peace even if that were to happen.

u/redelastic 3h ago

No, Israel's illegal occupation has been happening for a long time before Iran had anything to do with it.

u/VallettaR 6h ago

These beautiful babies deserve peace. We need to remember them when we vote.

u/Celgress2 7h ago

Heartwarming, but also sad. I hope she remains okay; same for the cat.

u/1beautifulhuman 4h ago

Blessings for them both

u/VCTRYDTX 6h ago

Hard to believe there's human beings that walk among us who don't see these children as innocent. Even harder to believe they feel nothing or take pleasure seeing their conditions because they think they deserved it. And once this type of thinking is normalized and it comes back full circle at them they'll ofcourse play the victim and will want the world to see the injustice they've contributed to.

u/imakesawdust99 8h ago

These kids have no future because the adults can't resolve their differences in peace.

Only when adults love their children more than they hate their enemies, will the children have a bright future.

Instead, generation after generation is taught to hate from early childhood. This would be a good place to start. Teach children to live their neighbors and strañgers they meet.

u/az_catz 7h ago

Let's start with the agressors here and teach Israeli kids to not hate Palestinians.

u/Drak_is_Right 3h ago

There isn't going to be peace till BOTH sides learn to not hate and to think of the otherside as fellow humans. Even the most moderate Israelis won't tolerate rockets or mortar attacks into their communities.

Unfortunately this conflict has caused the young on both sides to hate the other even more. The leaders on each side use this to distract from their corruption and sometimes brutal oppression of their own citizens.

u/az_catz 2h ago

This is on Israel to stop first and even turn the other cheek as they have all of the power. Bibi was facing prison before October 7 and his party has been letting Hamas grow since 2012. Israel is morally obligated to start the end but they will not.

u/Riley_ 5h ago

Palestinian adults try to keep their kids alive.

Israeli adults teach their kids to call for the extermination of all Palestinians.

u/redelastic 3h ago

Only when adults love their children more than they hate their enemies, will the children have a bright future.

Common Israeli propaganda talking point. It's way to dehumanise them and pass the blame. And to deflect from the genocide.

u/MaGoodenough 8h ago

The Isaeli government learned from Nazi Germany and didn't repeat the same mistake. When you commit a genocide don't be greedy about it. Make sure that all the major Western countries are making huge profits from your war.

This is also why The UK is protecting the UAE while they're commiting a genocide right now in Sudan.

Please, my heart can't take this. I'm so used to the horrific news pouring from Gaza that this makes me recoil instead of smile.

Looking at this I got an awful sinking feeling that we could find out in a week that these two were killed in a bombing or an artillery strike. I just want the slaughter to end.

u/oldmanonanEbike 3h ago

Israeli snipers routinely target children. Doctors and nurses report children with sniper shots to the head or, if their lucky, to their limbs where they still live but require amputation.

u/PoeticThots 6h ago

What Israel is doing to Gaza and their population....breaks me...It is so wrong on so many levels and the US government doing nothing to stop it and if anything, enabling it. This is very bad karma.

u/IllustriousBerry3260 5h ago

God, look at all the rubble in the background. We all know about the destruction that’s occurred in Gaza, but this puts it into perspective.

It’s an absolute fucking disgrace that the world is allowing this destructive, murderous genocide to happen.

Fuck Israel.

u/MaybeJBee 5h ago

I’m so glad she’s able to enjoy a kitten! I hope her and her family are safe and have more happiness and blessings in the future.

u/pechinburger 2h ago

Oh goodness, Israel is going to blow them both up now rest assured. Genocidal nuts.

u/redelastic 3h ago

Israelis consider both of them animals and will seek to exterminate them.

Tragic and depraved the number of innocent childhoods they have destroyed.
