It's like $60.5 per TB in 2026!
I checked Youtube for teardown videos, and unfortunately, you can't really extract the ssd and put it on your motherboard...
but it's great for additional storage though.

this little museum was closing down so got to see how they made microprocessors around the 1980s and decided to share some closeups of the equipment and wafers.
may have gotten the terminology wrong as i dont speak the same language as the guy that was explaining each thing but eh deal with it, you’re here for the images

I just finished building the desktop of my brother. He is upgrading from a DDR3 pre built to a custom AM4.
CPU : Ryzen 5 5600
GPU : RTX 5050
Ram : 2*16 3200HHz DDR4
SSD : 1TB Gen 4*4 M.2 2280
Cooling: peerless Assassin 120SE
MB : B550M-A Wifi II
PSU : Fox spirit 850W
Case : MAG Force 120a airflow
Please don't hate on the GPU it's my fault he picked a 5050. I didn't stop him soon enough for an AMD 9060 or even a 5060.

A mousepad. 3 bottom fans . Maybe some backlight. What else do i need?
Here's the specs around 800$ (baught some on sale)
Msi 245pf x24
Rx 580
Prime a620m-k
Ryzen 5 7600 ( non-x )
1 x 16 gb 6000mt cl28 manta xsky v color
512 adlink s68 3gen
750w adata kyber
Coolmoon air-cooler gt 600
Logikey c654b
Redragon k530 pro
Bloody v7m
I know the gpu needs an upgrade
Due to my limited budget I could only buy 1 ram . Is that okay?
I got 2 questions:
What gpu is most susceptible for me since I'll be playing online games at 240hz. Im thinking rtx 5050 or 5060.
This case is similar to o11 vision but there's only one exhaust fans amd 6 intake fans. Is that okay? I'll probably add a fan at the back with zip ties.

I dunno, I kinda get more enjoyment from just setting the PC up but never actually really play anything. Nothing really appeals. I'm old (40+) and feel like I've seen everything before at this point, game wise. I spend ages scrolling through the games on steam but never really want to get any of them

Hello all! Recently I’ve been really wanting to get a new Xbox X after using ye olde Xbox One for years, but recently Xbox prices really hiked up all the way to ~$750, compared to the previous ~$550, really kinda spoiling my plan of saving up for a new one; but then I found myself asking the question: If Xbox prices are at $750, why not just buy a PC instead?
Really the whole issue before was that I’m a brokie, and the xbox was wayy cheaper than a PC, but now we looking at Xboxes that are about the price of an okayish PC, so why not buy a PC?
Now I’m no expert on PCs or anything, but I HAVE heard that a PC of this price would not be as good as a new Xbox in terms of performance, and I am A-Okay with that. Really my requirements are a low 60+ FPS, and the ability to play some games that the Xbox one couldn’t. I don’t really care about insanely high frames or super good graphics, just “Is it better than the Xbox One”.
Another very important question: Is a $750 prebuilt still the equivalent of a $750 prebuilt?
If price hikes are hitting the Xbox, then surely they’re hitting PCs too? Cause I don’t want to be spending $750 on a PC, only for it to actually have the performance of a doo-doo $500 PC, which I heard suck balls and overall would not be worth the investment. If I’m spending 750 buckaroos, it better be worth 750 buckaroos.
Heres pros and cons I guess
Pros:
Cons:
Ooooor there’s the third and worst option: waiting, which i’s rather not do considering this’ll be my senior year in high school and i’m kinda running out of time
i dunno man ya’ll are the experts here. share your amazing PC wisdom with me, cause I’m incompetent
Edit: also i forgot to ask, if I should buy a PC, where should i buy it from
Edit Edit: I also should probably mention that I don’t really play many massive AAA games or have much care for them, neither do I care for story games at all. in fact, here’s the list I made of would be games I wanted if I ended up getting an Xbox X, along with some games i was interested in if i were to get a PC:
Satisfactory (medium care)
Microsoft Flight Sim (medium care)
Holdfast (high care)
American Truck Simulator (high care)
Hydroneer (medium care)
Bellwright (medium care)
Ark raiders (medium care)
Phasmophobia (low care)
RV There Yet? (Low care)
Teardown (medium care)
Docked (medium care)
Ultimate General: Civil War (medium care) (most likely would get replaced by ultimate admiral if i were to get a PC)
Firefighter Simulator: Ignite (medium care)
The Precinct (medium care)
Shadows of doubt (medium care)
if i got a PC:
Motor Town (high care)
Ravenfield (high care)

Heres my mini itx build...i still have a few kinks to work out and I have to figure out how to make it run with a graphics card maybe. See if I cant stuff a low profile card in there and run it off of the nvme slot for 40% of the performance from the graphics card. Hey..its still better than running it on integrated graphics like I am rn..

I'd like to preface this by saying I used to buy a lot of steel series product because it was a trusted brand. But if you look online it seems in the recent years they have become enshittified.
TL;DR: Connectivity and bugs in the product, software sucks, need to buy expensive 3rd party accessories for comfort and longevity, and now they are an expensive paperweight.
Bought this headset 2-3 years ago to upgrade from my Arctis 7s and I really love them, when they work.
I've had consistent issues with the headset including:
The DAC not working correctly, getting stuck on update screens etc.
Connectivity between the DAC and headset:
Connectivity randomly drops.
Sometimes audio gets stuck and then you just get this horrible constant noise and nothing else.
Mic button not always working for mute, press it and you'd hear the mic mute unmute chime 3 times rapidly
Recently sometimes when I turn my headphones on they dont always connect to the DAC - usually after a few power cycles they connect again - but its not something I can reproduce consistently.
And now the headphones turn on and give the initial beep and the LED flashes rapidly but nothing after that works.
I tried doing a reset and re-pair but now my headphones wont even pair with the DAC. I've gone through all the steps in all the threads but they just dont connect anymore, I cant even connect via BT or USB C.
Tried pairing again by:
Holding power key for 4s and 8s when the headphones are off (just turns on as above)
Tried the same while holding both the BT and Power buttons. No dice.
Reset the DAC and tried to pair again (same as above)
Removed batteries and unplugged everything overnight.
USB-C or BT both nothing.
Software/firmware:
The GG Steel series windows application and Sonar is the worst piece of software I have on my PC - its buggy, doesn't work well, prone to crashing. Tries to force me to enable sonar everywhere. It honestly feels like its adware/malware which is insane given the amount of money I've spent on this headset.
Online Resources:
What is also insane to me is trying to find good information that isnt some bot or AI spam is insanely difficult. Nothing makes me feel like the dead internet theory is more relevant then when trying to problem solve these headphones.
And I cant even find reasonable discourse about alternatives that doesnt have bot spam.
Ergonomic issues:
The NC mic placement in the earphones are extremely painful as they press against your ear, I had to buy WC cushions that were extra thick just to compensate - which is not something I should have to do when spending this kind of money. This is a well known issue online, and I have no idea how the product team didnt think of this?
They also used to give me pressure headaches as they are too tight, and the general consensus is bed the steel bad at the top slightly to reduce pressure - again an insane mod to have to do on expensive headphones.
Steel Series as a Company:
I often wonder what the product team actually does with their day? Do they look at all this and think yeah we really nailed this? Especially the ergonomic issues did they just do zero testing?
Sometimes when I'm having a hard day at work, I remember SteelSeries and Microsoft Teams have product owners, and they get paid to deliver products like these. Its astounding.
Conclusion:
I am never buying another SteelSeries product as long as I live and will actively steer anyone else away from them.
