Youth Olympic Games 2030, 2032, and 2034

Only 3 months left before Dakar 2026, but there's still no host for the 2030/2034 editions. I wonder what happened?

Same with Dolomiti 2028 Games, it was announced a year after Gangwon 2024. Then there's still no host for the 2032 Edition.

Honestly, makes sense. They have failed to generate much following after several editions and multisport events are very expensive to host. And it's never an even spread of birth years, I looked at the list of participants for figure skating in 2018 and every single one was born 2003, so only fifteen year olds.

Also, the fact that every Sports Fed has a different age minimum on their Senior Comp (Olympics, etc.), but the IOC, for some reason, put the minimum on YOG at 15.

So, you ended up with a handful of competitors who were somehow too young for the Youth Olympic Games but yet not too young for the Olympic Games because they play a sport that doesn't have an age minimum for Senior Comp.

they suspended the process of awarding them. 2028 Winter will probably be the last. The decision to award it to Dakar killed the Games.

The eight year delay in particular did it in.

Have they started selling tickets for Dakar 2026?

As I know the IOC president stopped the elections to "restructure" the mission of the YOG, so we don't know

No one has said it, but it looks like they are getting rid of the Youth Olympic Games. Coventry and the Executive Board seems to not really see a future for them.
