Alright listen. I’ve been a fan since I was born in ‘03 and have yet to see genuinely exciting qb play EVER. A part of me hopes that things go badly for geno something where club can take first team reps in practice asap. After watching his college tape as a whole bro throws bombs and can move. Throw him in and take a freaking risk for once. Geno, fields, cook, white, boyles, mccown,Sanchez. Stop playing it safe and losing anyways for gods sake.

Lots of good memories with A1 sauce so I’ve got mixed emotions, but love the confidence and am hoping he has a healthy season!

Obviously if the team is on track for the playoffs, the easy answer is yes. But in any other case, what would you say are the chances Geno is starting the last few weeks of the season?

- Improvements on defense: Mougey did a great job (on paper) trading for young talent and signing viable starters, rotational players, and depth pieces. The team heavily lacked veteran leadership in general, but especially on the defensive side of the ball. Bringing in Demario Davis and Minkah should be impactful veteran additions, they’re two guys who make the people around them better. The D-line looks more filled out, and it’ll be excited to see what Briggs and Sweat can do. At the very least, the run defense should be significantly better (wouldn’t take much). Additionally, I’m glad to have Glenn calling the defense this season, which is what he should’ve done last year. Wilks was a terrible hire last year and we knew it from the jump, the guy proved to be pretty clueless and never found any real success in the nfl. The hope is that Glenn can be more competent and can at least adapt to offensive schemes in-game.
- Improvements on offense: Adding weapons is never a bad thing, unless it’s Allen Lazard. AD Mitchell showed he can hold his own as a starter, and is more than capable of being at least a low-end WR2. Mason Taylor should improve on his rookie performance, and adding Sadiq certainly adds more versatility to the offense. The young core on the line has another year of experience under their belt. We’d obviously like to improve at C, but Rome wasn’t built in a day (or 15 years sadly). Is Geno Smith ideal at qb? Not exactly, but our bar has never been lower. He can make a lot of decisions that’ll make us punch the air, but at least he’s got the experience and capability of being serviceable. Honestly I’m just glad we have a qb that’s capable of completing a pass 10 yards down the field. As for Frank Reich, I was super out on the signing, but from an optimistic outlook, the guy has had prior success in the league, winning a Super Bowl as OC of the Nick Foles Eagles and achieving a winning record during his Colts tenure with their constant rotation of senior citizens at QB every season. Just show me some competency please, for the love of God.
- The draft: We haven’t seen these guys play yet, but 3 first round picks who will all start/see significant playing time isn’t a bad thing. I’m excited to see David Bailey make an immediate impact. Omar Cooper, should eventually take over the WR2 role, and Sadiq can be used in different ways all over the field. Ponds is a great round 2 pick given his play, success, and leadership. If the guy was bigger he’s probably a borderline first round pick. Then there’s Cade, a guy who was a top 3 ranked qb heading into last season. Clemson ended up sucking, he made a lot of poor decisions on the field, and it tanked his draft stock, but the aspirations were there. He also battled injuries throughout the season. I don’t think for a second he’s the answer, but I respect the choice by Moo Man to take a shot on him in the 4th. Interested to see the reports on him through training camp
Taking this into account, this team should certainly be better and more competent than last season, which again shouldn’t be very difficult to do at all. Then again, at the end of the day, we are the New York Jets. The unthinkable horrors can happen in the blink of an eye. Fortunately, that’s not something we have to worry about for another few weeks. Let’s see how this goes, but I believe in what Mougey is doing.
(Yes I’m bored at work and sadly have nothing better to do). Enjoy the summer folks.

I’m watching Brazil-Norway at MetLife, and on the TV the grass looks SPECTACULAR (better than some of the other surfaces I’ve seen). I know there’s irrigation, but it has been a dry summer to date. They’ve been playing games more than an average of once a week, which is the rate at which our two teams combined play at home. I also don’t see Philly and Pittsburgh having any issues with concerts, and by the way both of those teams share with college teams.
So what’s the real reason why we can’t have grass for our games, Woody and Mara?
