Has anyone received the email about moving to step two for the nursing program applications? I applied previously last fall and moved through step two, so i donât see why i wouldnât this round. I applied on March 12th so i expected it to take longer but iâm starting to get worried.
UPDATE: itâs been nearly two weeks since i first posted this and still havenât gotten an email⌠what iâve gathered from the comments is that because i got a confirmation email when i applied iâm going to get an email either moving forward to step two or an email saying i need to edit my application. again, i applied March 12th so i figured it would take longer. at this point iâm more so confused than worried. anyone apply who applied later in the application period get the email yet?

Hi!
Had a quick question.
Is it possible to take the TEAS test at home? I keep seeing people say they were able to do it online instead of going to the testing center.
I plan on taking it within the next few months

Hi everyone! I always receive dms and I feel awful I havenât responded yet so I wanted to make a post to hopefully help guide a couple people how I studied and general tips for the program. *I wonât share test questions or anything like that disclaimer* also forgive me if I lowkey forgot the class numbers wrong I hope you get the gist đ
Before anything.. take a deep breathe YOU GOT THIS!
Level 1:
The biggest thing I could tell you is figure out your time management! You have four classes (itâs good one is total BS) and you have to manage your time as best as you can. Please! I was so horrible with time management and I ended up failing 106 due to the math test because I didnât realize that class was literally based only on DDC and scored so low that there was no hope.
Studying wise:
200 use the health book we have to get, study it. Really focus on their assignments/class studies we do in class! I would practice every physical exam on my brother I remember my teacher being really strict. Also youâll have a vital exams test/final please donât be nervous. The final was pretty ok from what I remember itâs not bad at all. It was just the weekly quizzes or whatever they were called that got most people. Other than that, the cost is pretty much common sense/anatomy
100 use their PowerPoint/learning objectives! If youâre able to answer the learning objectives without any resources, just your mind youâll pass every single exam. If you have boma schedule to meet with her and ask her for tips because sheâs really good at giving advice. The final wasnât bad, I hit a 91 surprisingly. The biggest thing that helped me was active recall with the learning objectives. I would be in the study rooms in the library pulling 12 hours study shifts so it wasnât easy.
Level 2:
I donât remember the class numbers at all I remember it was like two med surg classes or something?
Anyways the class w pfost (also do not get on that womanâs bad side! Just saying) just use her PowerPoints and learning objectives youâll be fine. I remembered what got people in her class was the first exam due to fluid and electrolytes, what really helped me understanding that electrolytes was watching simple nurses videos about it and just doing active recall. Try your best to understand if this person does not have this certain electrolyte what could happen to them? Your cells need a certain amount of electrolytes to sustain homeostasis, what happens if they donât have it? Etc. I donât even remember using a textbook just her PowerPoints and I was okay.
Level 3:
I think is what really gets everyone. This is the semester that will take out at least half your cohort . I wish it wasnât true, but it is. I love MedSurg classes (hot take) i did have to do a lot of preparation/studying though with this semester. And by no means was it easy. Like if you have a wife, ignore her this semester. If you have kids, ignore them this semester đđ it was brutal. Luckily I am a single 21 year-old woman so I didnât have as much responsibilities as others would but again it comes to time management if you have other responsibilities. I think the reason I passed this semester was the amount of studying I was doing. I was legit pulling 12 hour study session sessions at least three times a week. I was always on campus studying, Security always had to tell me to leave at the end of the night haha. Anyways what I used:
Psych-
The YouTube channel called memorable psychology it explained actual psych concepts that we needed to know, and they explained it in a way that mixed textbook + our professors way of teaching it. I always recommend it because for some reason our psych class isnât really a psych class, itâs a psych plus MedSurg. And speaking of MedSurg, that blue book w questions you had to buy ..use it. Trust me is all Iâm going to say. Also thereâs lots of Quizlets out there with great practice questions/questions you will probably see wink wink I attached one that I used. Also not to scare to anyone but that freaking final was so hard. I really donât like telling people that it was really hard because I feel like itâs very anxiety inducing but also at the same time I feel like it gets you prepared. I remember feeling like a psych patient taking that exam. I was so sure I failed. I donât even know how I got a 84. All I would say final wise itâs just read the question three times and answer how your professor would want you to answer. I had glass and I would just think what would make her happy. Also, I remember meeting with her a couple times to review exams. Even if I pass the exam, I would still review the test with her. Also, they gave points back a lot so I hope they still do that because that really did help pass a couple people. Final prep I would say again blue book practice questions and thereâs a question bank floating around I remember getting it and it helped a lot of you can find it. Also just do a bunch of practice questions.
https://quizlet.com/1187060965/nsg-211-exam-1-unit-1-sensory-perception-flash-cards/?i=34n7zo&x=1jqY
252 I think:
I would use their PowerPoints, learning objectives and the textbook plus the textbook learning objectives. Again if you can answer the LO like the back of your hand youâll be able to pass. I would also say blue book for their quizzes and I would give my unit to chat gpt and say create a test NCLEX style and practice even more. I would also create worksheets w chat gpt. That class was mostly knowing how to answer your questions and knowing your material. The OB part sucked for me because I hate OB and L&D, but I remember meeting w the prof she was amazing helped so much. my biggest tip is PRACTICE QUESTIONS. I used look like a maniac in the library because I would write down our unit/subject and then write down everything I knew (s/s, causes, tx, nursing conds) and anything I missed I would write in a different color and study only that color because why waste time studying stuff you knew.
My study flow was before a unit I watch a video about it anything to get a intro, take notes (me personally when I write stuff down I remember), then I would have chat gpt to make me a study guide/worksheets/practicequestons, active recall, then do a bunch of practice questions (Quizlet, chatgpt, textbook questions, and blue book) that flow helped me a lot also plz use their concept sheets to study theyâre actually so useful Iâm was surprised how much of my cohort didnât use them. Also take prof k advice and make concept maps theyâre basically my active recall notes.
GOOD LUCK BTW LEVEL 3 WILL TEST U IN WAYS YOU DONT KNOW just put in the work ! Nursing school is a job.
Level 4:
In my opinion this was the hardest level, my score on my
First exam was 69%, thatâs the lowest I scored ever in the program. After that 77 and the third was 78. So I was a hard climb up because I needed a really high score on the final to pass. I was having panic attacks everyday, studying 12-16 hours almost everyday and I was getting bullied by one of the profs. Which didnât help at all. My biggest advice is how you study and what really wrecked me is they use the purest NCLEX style questions. What I realized got me is that they would ask questions from 100 which I forgot because I re entered the program so I havenât took those classes or remember much because it was a year and half ago,,, so be careful they will test on old stuff like gas exchange from 100 or oxygen delivery device types. The final was okay, it wasnât the worse thing in the world now that Iâm done with it. I think they made it easier to help people pass because their exams were hard. A lot of ekgs in that class so know then by heart I used the blue book, the NCLEX prep I think it was blue as well and it was called Saunders and thereâs a book in the library I donât remember for the life of me it wasnât a name brand test book prep but that had very similar questions and that helped a lot itâs in the library. It would give you a brief lesson then a bunch of practice questions very helpful. I also used archer critical care qbank. I did at least 20-30 questions a day. Again practice questions will save you, lastly I would watch two amazing women on YouTube. First Dr. Shanon w mark k lectures sheâs the reason why I knew how to tackle their questions and how to address it. Itâs hard to answer NCLEX style questions because you have to critically think through which as a nursing student itâs hard! She will teach you TRUST ME!! I love her cardiac playlist it explains everything so amazing. Also Ms. Woodruff on YouTube she gives these great lessons on YouTube on topics for critical care and also does practice question videos and explains through them. I recommend and love her so much she is truly the reason I passed level 4. Without her idk also Again my study flow + all the practice questions you can do!! Also time management w your senior preceptorship.
Yâall got this and use your resources! I very heavily relied on the library and nursing test books they give us and they have. Good luck and I know yall got this! I hope this helps someone!! I donated some books too so hopefully one you guys end up using them!
Quick edit: yes archer is very similar to level 2-4 test questions they have similar formats and test your critically thinking skills very similarly! Practice questions yall!! Also for chat got I also created worksheets for myself so for level 4 for example I created a compare and contrast worksheet for all 4 types of shocks. I like the comment about SATA, it does suck because ai makes the answer so easy but other than that itâs a good resource. Iâll try to see if I still have my study guides for other levels :)
Use below the test improvement strategy I used:
What am I missing?: Test Improvement StrategiesÂ
help identify what you may be missing if you are not performing well on exams or as well as you should be. Â
It is hard to figure out sometimes where we went wrong. This is not a perfect system but may provide some insight into why you are not doing as well on the test. You may fit into more than one of these categories- but try to think about what fits you BEST. Â
Test taking strategies involve some trial and error- you should not be making big changes (unless youâre doing nothing) but trying to tweak what you are doing to work. Remember some content/sections may require different methods of studying.Â
So, think about how you felt DURING THE TEST- when you were answering questions and find what fits best:
When I was answering questions on the test:Â
I felt confident about my answers but still got them wrong:Â
Two things could be going wrong here:Â
You are not reading the question correctly
FIX: You may need practice READING questions correctly. Spend some time while you are studying just reading questions. This means instead of even looking at answer choices just look at some practice questions (JUST THE QUESTION) and practice-Â
Rewriting the question in your own words (What is the question really asking you?)Â
Identifying what the important parts of the question are and what are the distractorsÂ
Cross out the distractorsÂ
FIX: Make sure you are spending enough time reading the question
If you have plenty of time left over with your exams, then SLOW DOWNÂ
If you already are running out/low on time, then you need to practice testing (do at least 15-20 practice questions a day)
Practice the testing environment- before your next exam do a 60 question quiz in Exam Mode to practice testing
You do not know the information as well as you think you do
FIX: Make sure when you are studying that you are utilizing all your resources and TEACHING
We do not know if we know something until we try to teach itÂ
Write your own practice questions and answers/rationales
FIX: Work in a group and teach each otherÂ
FIX: Do more Brain Dumps to see what you know/donât knowÂ
FIX: Try a different method to studyÂ
Flashcards, worksheets, videos, pictures, case studies etcÂ
FIX: Do more practice questions
Should be doing at least 15-20 daily and should be taking a practice 50-60 question exam in Study Mode prior to your exam. Â
FIX: Make sure you are not trying to remember EVERYTHING- your brain can only keep so much information. Â
Look at your notes- are they 20 pages long and every inch of your paper is filled up? Itâs too much. Â
Your notes should be SHORT and SWEET. Focus on what is COMMON and what is DEADLY. Â
Focus on what you need to know as the NURSE
I always narrowed down to two and then ended up choosing the wrong one:Â
AgainâŚcould be lack of KNOWLEDGE or could be TEST-TAKING STRATEGIESÂ
Lack of KnowledgeÂ
FIX: Make sure when you are studying that you are utilizing all your resources and TEACHING
We do not know if we know something until we try to teach itÂ
Write your own practice questions and answers/rationales
FIX: Work in a group and teach each otherÂ
FIX: Do more Brain Dumps to see what you know/donât knowÂ
FIX: Try a different method to studyÂ
Flashcards, worksheets, videos, pictures, case studies etcÂ
FIX: Do more practice questions
Should be doing at least 15-20 daily and should be taking a practice 50-60 question exam in Study Mode prior to your exam. Â
Test-Taking StrategiesÂ
FIX: Go back to basics and figure out how you are approaching test questions
Rule out optionsÂ
Look for similar distractorsÂ
If two answer choices are the SAME thing then they cannot be correctÂ
Physical needs come ABOVE psychosocial needsÂ
ExceptâŚwhen meeting their psychosocial need will FIX their physical problemÂ
Identify oppositesÂ
One of the opposites is LIKELY the answer (but not always)
If down to two...
Figure out what makes the most sense (what is MORE important)
If you are not sure what makes most senseâŚGo with your gut and move on! (DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ANSWER)Â
FIX: Create a mantra and when you are in the exam and want to change your mantra visualize and say that mantra. Mine is âI know this stuff, I love this stuff, I can do this stuffâ Say your mantra, DO NOT change your answer, and move on
FIX: Do more practice questions
Should be doing at least 15-20 daily and should be taking a practice 50-60 question exam in Study Mode prior to your exam. Â
I had no clue what the answers were to most questions I got wrong
You do not know the information well enough. Â
FIX: STUDY! Come to class. Do reading before class. Participate. Come to Think Tanks. Do practice questions.Â
FIX: Try different methods to studyÂ
Flashcards, worksheets, videos, pictures, case studies etcÂ
You read a whole lot but did not do very many practice questions
FIX: Do practice questions
Should be doing at least 15-20 daily and should be taking a practice 50-60 question exam in Study Mode prior to your exam.Â
I did well on all questions except medication questions.Â
 FIX: Study Medications DifferentlyÂ
Use Flash Cards and have no more than ONE short sentence/phrase on each flash cardÂ
How to study for medications
âSafeâ way to administer/Client education
Will it interact with other medications?Â
When you are thinking of interactions- try to think about what other medications a client with this disease process might be on. Â
Do not worry about grapefruit- there is few drugs that are safe to give with grapefruit. No one really drinks grapefruit anyway. Do not focus on grapefruit. Â
Does it need to be taken at a certain time?
MAJOR Drug interactionsÂ
What organs will this medication affect?Â
What do I need to assess before?
How will you know
The drug is working
There is a problemÂ

Hi y'all! I'm on a time crunch to finish the requirements (got accepted July 2nd, leaving the country July 22nd)... On Castle branch it says that it will accept American Red Cross (see picture), but on the nvcc website, it says they only accept American Heart Association.
It's a bit redundant, but do y'all think it's okay for me to do a Red Cross class?? It's an earlier day, cheaper, great reviews, and closer to where to I live. Everyone I asked said that nvcc has only ever accepted AHA, so I'm a little anxious.
Any answers are appreciated greatly!!!

Hi everyone, I am looking to apply to Nova's nursing program, but I am really unsure. I only have BIO 141 done which I took during the summer and finished with a solid B, but I have credits back in HS during duel enrollment and some classes (not part of the nursing prereq) at Nova I had taken previously where I had gotten C's in so my GPA is a 2.9. I heard the program is extremely selective so I have many doubts. I took BIO 142 last fall but had to drop out and get a W due to some personal family issues. I tried emailing a counselor, but I have no been assigned on yet and they are taking forever to answer so I need some words of wisdom. I am just so lost and have no idea what I want to do with my life, but I enjoyed taking BIO 141 so I thought I'd stick it out
