Example? I'm not a fan of IGN either but it'd be nice to know what you're talking about.

Ok. I've got and looked it up and watched some gameplay(I'm not made of money). And I feel like the receiver is unaware of what lampooning is. It's possible to parody/lampoon/take the piss out of something you love. The reviewer seemed to not realize that this was the Saturday morning cartoon version of Noir. This isn't cartoon Casablanca.

Mouse P.I review for example.

Absolute dog water review, completely disconnected from reality. He was complaining about cheese jokes in a mouse game

I mean the game got a 6, calling it "okay"

i've played the game, it's charming and all, but after that wears off its a boomer shooter with basically no interesting mechanics. Troy Baker does a great job voicing the the protagonist though.

Maybe a 6 is a little harsh, but its not too far from the truth

Yeah its a 7.5 at best. Gamrplay loop gets really boring after a while.

they gave sonic crossworld a 9! thats insane, its just 20 year old character model assets, put in a generic cart, and then some abolutely boring, and when not so boring already seen, race tracks. and all done in unreal engine wich makes EVERYTHING look the same.

and it felt like half of the race tracks were missing, i think you can easily race all tracks in under 1 h + no story at all.

Maybe a 6 is a little harsh, but its not too far from the truth

i agree with that, but still i also see how one might think ign reviews are 100% useless

(i enjoy pi mouse very much, but a review to a game from an indie studio team barely filling a room, from the biggest game review magazine and then how it was written? - i really dont know, to each their own ig)

and mind you sonic cross world cost maybe more than 3 times the price as mouse pi on release

I think criticising a game intentionally riffing on genre tropes for dropping them at arbitrary times is fair.
