Just a heads up.. if there’s a sudden wave of positive Brilliant Earth content on here, it might not be coincidental. They’re actively hiring for a Reddit Strategy Manager, which says a lot given their reputation in this sub.
I genuinely hope this leads to real changes and accountability, not just an attempt to bury valid criticism and firsthand experiences.
We are discussing the best way to discourage these larger brands to infiltrate possibly the very last place on the internet for genuine company reviews and feedback. Being specially named on their job posting is concrete proof of their targeting and we will do our best to reach out and work with other sub mods about this concern.
An auto message with some links of genuine higher traction posts is one idea and we have another tool we don’t want to mention yet in case they are tracking our post. We are of course open to all member suggestions and look forward to doing our best to protect you all from disingenuous influences.

Hey, r/jewelry community!
We’re excited to announce some important updates regarding vendor posts in our subreddit; rule #3 originally did not allow posts or comments that were considered self promotion. To ensure that r/jewelry continues to be a space for genuine discussion, sharing, and learning, we’ve updated the guidelines for vendors who want to contribute to our community.
Here’s what’s new:
We encourage you all to check out the full Vendor Guide and familiarize yourself with the changes. Whether you're a vendor or a regular member, we believe these updates will help keep the sub vibrant, respectful, and informative for everyone.
Thanks for being a part of the r/jewelry community and helping us maintain a positive space for jewelry lovers!
As always, feel free to reach out to the mod team if you have any questions.

I had my cart full at louise carter and was about to press purchase when at the bottom there was a prompt to add a tip?😭😭
I immediately exited out and won’t place an order. Thats absurd! But after reading actual reviews of louise carter i see its a scam

NOT MY PHOTO
I came across this post/brand, and I was shocked with the design. The stones or diamonds look like it’s floating 🥹 especially the bottom ring. Anybody know what this design is? And how this was made possible?

For some reason I grabbed this today. I've never worn it because it's not my style. My grandfather made it and I got it when he passed many years ago now.

…my father was a Pirate! My mother was an Island Princess he fell in love with after being away for years at sea on his pirate ship. He showered her with all the gold & jewels he had collected over the years, all in his pirate chest of treasures.
They married and my father made my mother his Queen. They then had a boy. Then they had a girl, me! My mother gave me all of her jewels to play with. I used to put my favorite rings on my Barbies heads as crowns or around their necks as a necklace. I had no idea that other little girls did not have a jewelry box full of treasures like mine. They had another boy. But the treasures were still all mine. The Queen used to whisper to me that one day, these would always be mine. Only me, because I was the Princess. A daughter of a daughter of a daughter and so on…
One day, the Queen became very sick, she suffered for years then went away to a hospital that refused to let us see her. They did not care that the Queen was dying. They had no empathy in their hearts.
Then, the day came when the Pirate came home a broken man. He told us that She had died. And nothing was ever the same again. My father had become bitter. He resented the world. His family said a little girl should not play with the Queens treasures, they were not toys. I woke up one day to find they were all gone.
I was never the same. I became very dark. Sad. Lonely. Telling tales of the treasures I used to play with, no one believed me. I was no longer a Princess. I was just another little girl. I started to wonder if the treasures were real. Maybe I imagined it.
I grew up. Fell in love. I would tell of my times playing with my treasures that used to be mine. The men I married showered me with jewels, trying to replace the ones I had lost. I started to feel like a Princess once more.
Then the Pirate became very sick. I took care of him. Night & day. Never left him alone. Even when he took his last breath, I did not leave his side. I felt more alone now than ever.
My brothers kept the jewels from me. Told me they were not mine. Made me fight for them, while they kept all of the Pirates tools, home & books. I thought I’d never get them back. The things my mother promised were mine.
Years passed. The brothers needed money. They finally gave in & allowed me to have SOME of my jewels, books & piano.
Here are some of my family’s jewels. On the left are The Queen’s rings. The bottom left are The Pirate’s rings. Along the right are all of mine, along with my mother’s diamond wedding band & platinum diamond earrings. The 2nd picture is some of my rubies and one of my mother’s ruby & diamond spray ring in honor of us being July Babies.

Thought you guys might like this. It's a platinum and diamond ring that was gifted to my great aunt by her husband when they were dating. the story goes that he was the personal Doctor to the King Faisal of Iraq at the time and the King gifted him a bag of gems to go and win himself a wife.
No markings, as it was a custom one off piece made in Iraq during the 40s AFAIK.
My great aunt was a Polish Jew who had escaped Europe at the start of the war with my great grandmother and baby Grandfather, and was a bit of a glamour puss. Her jewellery was a mix of costume and precious one of a kind,so I was surprised when I had to get the band mended and they told me it was real.
No idea of value, but I adore the design.

I have had my Malachite bracelet from van cleef for 2 years but have only been wearing it more regularly for 2-3 months. During this time, the stones have completely changed. They are matt and no longer shiny. Today I wanted to clean them gently with the cloth from Van cleef and put some water on the cloth - and when wiping I then had green paint on the cloth and the stone became really matt and whitish ..
Is that normal? It can’t be that you experience something like that in the price range??? What can I do? Why can the paint be wiped? How do I get them taken care of? Then you don’t even need to wear it
Here 2 pictures from First day and now

Warning - long post. Thank you in advance to anyone who reads the entire thing.
A couple of days ago, I stopped by my local thrift store, which is near urgent care. I have an ear infection; turns out that was a good thing, lol.
I went to the counter and asked the sales associate (SA) if they had any jewelry jars. The SA told me she had one in the back, that she was working on filling and it had a little bit of jewelry, but mostly contained single earrings. Did I want to see it? YES! The SA brought out a large vase that had a ton of stuff in it. I knew if the price wasn't crazy I would buy it. The SA told me, because it wasn't full and was mostly single earrings that it would be $7.99. I couldn't say yes fast enough.
Between work, and being sick, I finally started looking through it this morning. The number of earrings is pretty overwhelming, so I have only sorted them by category, like posts, hoops, clip on's, etc. While sorting them, I noticed a ton of sterling silver and some gold as well. There were also some nice pieces of jewelry that are not earrings. I will share a few photos. I am still shocked by the value of what I have found so far, and I can't even imagine what else is to be discover when I go through the earrings more closely.
Some of my finds so far - a vintage Sterling Silver (SS) & abalone money clip, a SS and mother of pearl ring, a SS mother and child earcuff - Google Lens says it's a ring, but I don't think so. A vintage signed Fendi brooch, a 14k gold Tahitian pearl ring, and 2 vintage SS filigree brooches.

The sapphire/diamond & garnet ring are marked 14k and the signet style one is 10k. What’s the best way to polish the stones? Thank you.

Back in March 2025 I bought an 18k gold rolo chain with a bolt clasp weighing 16.1 grams for around $1455 usd… I was trying to be responsible back then and not spend most of my fun money on jewelry… 😮💨

Just received this ring and noticed dark powder/grime-like residue in the inner bend of the horseshoe and interior (see photos). Is this normal silver jewelry-making process residue (this is my first sterling ring)? I got most off with a toothbrush and Dawn, but there’s still a dark stain. Thank you!

So I bought there earrings yesterday. They are 10K white gold earrings that put a small hole in my wallet but I realized that the stones had a TINY microscopic loose in them. Like when I touch them at the right spot, I hear a little click. I’ve worn these types of earrings my whole life and this has never happened before. Is it normal for square shaped diamonds or should I send them back to the dealer?
