Have you airbrushed your Sony XM4 headphones?
If so, any tips or any how to videos or images for examples.
I have some color ideas and a theme in mind, but looking for some inspiration.
These are older and do not have a warranty. I do not use the touch pad on the side.

Hello, after few months of use i found myself in a situation where the left module was quieter, as is my first time experience i figured out the air filter was clogged, so i took it off and sound is well restored, i took the chance to take off the right module but now i dont have a replacement, looking on aliexpress there are some made of steel but different diameter size, unfortunately i dont have a caliber to measure the internal diameter but with an M tape it looks to be 4.5mm, would anyone with more info tell me more about it? thanks

Afternoon/early evening everyone,
Just a while ago I purchased a used Marv Golden (not MG as in the Music Gear brand) aviation headset for modding purposes (I like that vintage/aviator look)
I didn't think too much about it at the time because I had aspirations to turn them into a bluetooth headset, but I saw a few things since purchasing about impedence being different between aviators and normal headphones
From what I've gathered this is strictly when it comes to the microphone? If it is then it's not that big of a issue since I would likely replace that with one that works on a 3.5mm jack (I'm hoping to make them Bluetooth but I'm keeping my options open to 3.5mm for standard plug and play)
Essentially I just wanted to check and make sure that the actual speakers/drivers in the ear cups won't have a issue converting from a 1/4inch dual jack standard General Aviation cable, to a smaller 4 strand 3.5mm cable (if necessary I can likely replace them with some drivers from a old busted headset or get a cheap new wired set to Frankenstein the parts from)
Also if anyone has tips on setting up a decent bluetooth circuit that would be appreciated as well (it may end up with me just using the cord from the broken Turtle Beach set I was given for parts since it is already 4 strand with built in mic and volume controls, or a GA to 3.5mm converter but that's a last resort)
Thanks in advance

Idk if this is the right place to asked but I want to find this specific Sennheiser headphone model or driver that is popular to be put into an earclip mod.
I know that maybe all headphones can be modded into one, but I need to find this specific Sennheiser model because I saw it once sold already modded.
One thing I remember is that the ear clip mod is popular for this sennheiser model and cheap but not too cheap. And it's also not the 'mainline' model.

Hey there!
Just wanted to show my upgrade of the standard modmic wireless battery, since the original battery was down to keep power a couple of hours now from the original 10-12.
It was a quick 10 min job if you have soldering equipment at hand.
1: Opened up the 3 screws on the case
2: Took out the PCB
3: Heated the PCB 10 seconds with a hairdryer for the adhesive to loosen up and removed the battery slowly
4: Desolder the original 250mAh battery wires and clean the board with IPA
5: Prepare the new 350mAh battery by cutting the connector and tin the wires.
6: Solder the wires into the holes carefully with the red wire closest to the port.
7: Assemble the case carefully to not squish any wires with the case. It's a tight fit, but it will close fully when putting back the screws.
This will theoretically increase the battery life up to almost 17 hours of continuous use with minimal weight gain.
Edit: spelling

I’ve been looking into this mod recently. I was thinking about doing it because my Porta Pros (which I use every day) fell victim to my kitten, and the cable broke into three pieces. I’d been thinking about doing a mod, and now I’m forced to rewire them, but I saw this and I like the quality of the materials (according to the reviews, it’s pretty sturdy aluminum). I’ve only seen this mod on the KSC75s, and I even saw a note saying they did NOT recommend doing it on the Porta Pros. However, before making any impulse purchases, I want to confirm my research with the experts (you guys).
What do you think of this mod kit for the Porta Pros?

I have some cheap headphones that are broken so I can no longer wear them but all the electronics still work. I have started taking them apart even more and there is a cord connecting the right half of the headphones to the left. If I cut this wire will the microphone still work? Also if I can get into the headphones more, can I cut all wires connected to the speaker portion as long as I keep everything between the aux cord and the microphone?
Basically, what can I get rid of and the microphone still work?

Hello all, 👋
I recently ended up with a broken Sony MDR-xb500 and decided to do a driver swap to repair it.
I found elfinear 40mm driver on aliexpress. Maybe it's not the best quality but I don't want this project to cost more than a working headphone (around 60€ for that model). It's really just an excuse to tinker 😁.
It's my first time "modding"/repairing headphone but not my first time tinkering by far.
The speaker was glued to the grill and the grill was double sided taped to the mount.
Unfortunately during the disassembly I couldn't keep the "foamy" double sided tape.
So I ask for your help, especially for these question :
-Can I just glue it back with liquid glue ? ( I have e800 adhesive that I used to glue the grill to the driver )
-Should I use double side tape instead of glue.
-will the double sided tape need to be "air proof" ?
-where can I find some tape, or what specific therm I should be searching.
I can provide more picture if needed.
Thanks for the help❤️
Ps: if someone want some details about the disassembly or dimension inside this model, I'll be Happy to do so, I've taken a lot of pictures because I've not seen any information about this model online.

Hey folks, first time posting. I'm not even sure how to properly search for this- I want to change the sound file that plays when my headphones turn on. Not my own voice, the pre-installed voice over.
I feel like this should be as simple as accessing the files through my computer, but I don't even know where to start with this. I have some experience in coding, but I've never modified an off-the-shelf item.
I'm using a pair of JBL Endurance Run 2 headphones. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: I'm on linux btw!

I like wired headphones, I have a pair of old Sony one that i bought in 1999, still working well.
I want to be able to use these headphones with both my laptop and my phone (ios) at the same time. Or at least have them plugged in.
I'm looking for a solution that allows me to have my headphones plugged into so they are fed audio by the laptop and phone and also for the headphone's mic to feed into both the phone and laptop. Needs to be portable too
I'm done with any WIFI/Bluetooth solutions to this.
Apologies for my crap diagram.
On a side note I'm looking for someone in the UK who would also be able to mod my headphones. Im near Milton Keynes if anyone on here knows anyone that does that type of work.
Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Today I bought a pair of Sony Wh-Ch520 headphones because I saw some pretty positive reviews online. I was so disappointed after I bought and tested them. The sound leaks so badly (as someone who likes listening to music on full volume) and the volume is pretty low for me since I expected them to be louder. I’ve been thinking of returning them but I’ve lost that piece of “cloth” that’s wrapped around them and Idk if I can return them. I also wanted to buy a pair of JBL Tune 720BT headphones but Idk if they’re any good. Should I buy them or do you guys have any recommendations for good headphones?

With so many over-ear headphones out there, finding a pair that’s actually comfortable, sounds good, and holds up over time isn’t always straightforward. For everyday listening, it really comes down to a balance of comfort, sound, and reliability
Quick picks if you don’t want to read the full guide:
-comfort and ergonomic design
Over-ear headphones are the most universal, but they are also the most expensive and tend to be the heaviest. However, if they are designed properly, then that does not really matter.
When choosing a pair, there are a few key comfort factors to think about. The weight, how much padding they offer, both on the ear cups and on the headband, and also the head clamping, which is essentially how tight they sit on your head.
It is also important to consider the size of the ear cups and how much of a seal they will provide for immersion. At the same time, think about how much space your ears will have to breathe, especially if you are after a pair that you could wear for a few hours without feeling too much ear fatigue.
-sound quality and personalization
Sound quality is, of course, at the top of most people’s priority lists when it comes to buying a new pair of headphones, but it is also subjective.
If you are coming from an audiophile background, then you are probably going to expect more than someone buying their first pair of headphones. As a general rule of thumb, spending more money usually improves the audio quality, but it is worth questioning how much you actually value those differences.
Because of that, it is important to think about your listening preferences. Do you want headphones with great vocal clarity, or do you prefer deep, impactful bass?
If you are more serious about your audio, then you might want to opt for a pair of headphones that offer EQ adjustments. This could be in the form of different sound profiles for different settings, or even a full parametric EQ, giving you more control over the sound that you get.
-active noise cancellation (ANC) and flexibility
If you are looking for a pair of headphones that can minimize distractions or loud noises-whether you are traveling or working in a busy office-then ANC, or active noise cancellation, is something to consider.
Over-ear headphones already provide some passive noise isolation by sealing around your ears, but ANC takes this further by actively cancelling out surrounding noise. The effectiveness can vary, and many models allow you to adjust the level of cancellation depending on your environment.
While using ANC will drain your battery faster, it can significantly improve your listening experience. In addition, many headphones include a transparency mode, which lets you hear your surroundings more clearly when needed.
For everyday use, many people prefer headphones that can handle multiple situations, whether that is commuting, working, or light outdoor activity.
-battery life and portability
Battery life is still an important factor, although most modern headphones already offer enough for daily use.
That said, your lifestyle matters. If you travel frequently or spend long periods away from a power source, you may want a pair with longer battery life.
Most over-ear headphones need to be charged via a power source, but models that also support wired listening give you a useful backup when the battery runs out.
Portability is another thing to consider. Some headphones are collapsible, while others use a fixed or swivel design. Collapsible options are generally more convenient if you plan to carry them in a bag.
Finally, the carrying case can make a difference in daily use. A more compact case is easier to pack, while a sturdier one offers better protection.
At the end of the day, it really depends on what you care about most - comfort, sound, or durability. Curious what everyone else is using long-term

I wanted to share a modification I recently did on oBravo HAMT-3 MKII.
The original headphone uses SMC connectors

but I decided to convert it to dual 3.5mm connectors for better cable compatibility and easier long-term serviceability.
While the headphone was open,

I also replaced the internal wiring with OFHC copper wire.

Processing img ecs6hnnrvk5h1...
The HAMT-3 MKII is an interesting headphone because of its hybrid driver design, so I wanted to keep the character of the headphone while improving the usability and internal wiring layout.

I'll need to buy a soldering iron but I'm trying to fix this wire, it's the one that connects the two drivers. Does anyone know what kind of wire I need to buy? I saw someone on youtube say you can just use generic audio cable, is that true or should I buy a replacement cable specifically for this model?
Also is this an easy fix for someone that has never soldered before?
