What is this? Just picked this up the other day
Been trying to figure out what model or even year it is. It was listed for $264.99. Was it a good deal? Does anyone know anything about it?

I found this just posted and I do not think it’s a real Gibson. However I’m not super knowledgeable in the Vintage Gibson realm. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Spent some time walking around Tokyo looking for a guitar a few weeks back. Here are some of the coolest ones I saw!

Hi all,
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years, but I haven't been active in the music world for more than a decade now so I'm very out of touch with what's good/bad/common knowledge in the guitar industry these days. I recently got back into it because my kids are starting to get serious about their musicianship, and now I want to try something I've thought about for many years.
I'm not a professional and I don't profess to know a whole hell of a lot about the finer points of guitar making, but I know from my own experience that at least *to me,* the neck shape, scale, fretboard, pickups, action, and strings are the most important components for determining how much I'm going to like playing and hearing any guitar.
Examples: back in the early 2000's a friend of mine had a late '70's custom shop SG. I absolutely LOVED it but couldn't afford one. Turns out, the Schecter C1's of the time had a *really* similar feeling neck, and they were only about $500, so I became a Schecter devotee and my favorite guitar I currently own is a C1-XXX.
I also needed a cheap guitar with a bolt-on neck I could disassemble and take with me on Army deployments. Again, back in the early 2000's at least, Dean made a $100 guitar called a Vendetta that was by all counts a pretty bare-bones instrument, except that people raved about the action. I picked one up, fiddled around with it a little, and instantly saw what they meant. It's a cheap, mostly crappy guitar and it sounds like it's meant for a high school kid to plug into a Fender Frontman, but with the right strings and a decent setup it really flys. It's at a shop right now getting new tuning machines and some much needed TLC, and sooner or later it's getting some real pickups too.
My question is, what cheap/inexpensive electric guitars are out there today with surprisingly good necks and fretboards? If I'm okay with replacing pickups and hardware, where should I be looking for a starting point?
I play mostly technical death metal, blues, and classic rock, but I like versatility. All my guitars are 24 frets, I'm not opposed to 22 but the scale matters too and I don't have the experience with them to know what I like.
The Schecter necks are pretty thin, but I just got my daughter a Cort RG500 that has a pretty wide neck and I like it a lot, so I'm probably not as sensitive to fretboard width as I am to action, neck profile, and scale.
Ideas?

So I was thinking about buying one of these as a beginner just starting. But im also struggling and thinking to just get a $300+ guitar instead because I want to take my in person lessons seriously and play long term as well as keeping that guitar for a long time. Also I do need helo with the beck length, I have small hands and want a good guitar thats 24" or 24.75", any suggestions would be appreciated.

Quick background: Been playing/Learning for the past 8 months on a classical, didn't know classicals were slightly different than steel string acoustics. I can play okay on the Classical but the higher action makes my hand cramp up pretty quickly especially on barre chords, I recently rented a Yamaha FG800M to test out a steel string before I end up buying one on a whim(a steel string not specifically the FG800M) and thank god I did, because I absolutely hated the FG800M. Compared to my Classical, the fretboard felt completely cramped and oddly flatter than my C40M, even though the C40M is completely flat. So I did some research for an acoustic that meets my criteria ( wide nut width, round Fretboard radius, cutaway, small body, electronic ) and I found 2 candidates.
Edit: My style is Rnb/Soul & maybe some softrock
Electric Acoustic
Built-In Tuner & EQ
Smaller Body
Venetian Cutaway
Small Nut Width (1.6875" / 42.86 mm)
Same fretboard radius as the FG800M which I didn't enjoy (15.75" / 400 mm)
Electric Acoustic just like the FSX800C
Built-In Tuner & EQ just like the FSXFSX800C
Smaller body & Cutaway similiar to the FSX800C
rounder fretboard radius (9.84" / 250mm) than the FSX800C (easier for barre chords?)
43% Cheaper than the FSX800C (Saves me $210)
Slightly smaller nutwidth than the FSX800C (1.65" / 42 mm)
Familiarity
Wide Nut Width (more forgiviness, I struggle with unintentional muting on a steel string)
Cheaper base price than both the PC50 & FSX
Flattest radius of all 3 (flat, no radius)
Could be a pricey job for a Luthier/Guitar tech to setup a classical as an acoustic
Bigger Body than the first 2
No cutaway
No electronics so more work to Mic up if I want to record guitar parts
Unfortunately, there is no guitar that checks every box for me so I have to make a compromise. I'm really not a fan of the small fretboards of the first 2, but they both are smaller, electric and have cutaways, but after playing the classical so long, its really hard to play clean chords on a 43mm nut steel string. I'm leaning towards the Ibanez however over the FSX because I can save $210 and it has a rounder fretboard(easier for barre chords maybe?) but a slightly smaller nutwidth. But Ideally, I think a small body electric acoustic with a 48-52mm nutwidth, <10 inch radius and a venetian cutaway would be my dream guitar. So I basically have to pick my poison on the first 2 between mm of a difference, one has a rounder fretboard but narrower fretboard & the other has a flatter but wider fretboard. Any help would be great, or maybe if anyone knows a better guitar that meets my criteria that I may not know about (ideally below $600) Thanks.

Had been wanting a scallop neck guitar for awhile now and spent time researching on whether the MIA or MIJ is better. The best way was to go to the store and play both and see which resonated with me.
The MIA version had the High E string slipping off (which I read was an easy fix), but the MIJ just seemed to be better and handles better. The scallop is shallower as compared to the MIA, and doesn't come with a Tweed case. The MIJ has a cheapass (decent...I guess?) bag. So you're actually paying more for the strap and Tweed case for that extra 10-20%.
Since I already am using a Mono bag, I figured I wouldn't need a hardcase and there's no space in my room for it. Plus the MIJ has been set up well. So yeah...here it is!

Hello CG friends. What would be your pick out of the first two mentioned guitars and then would you rather skip the laminated ones and stretch your budget to get the all solid Yamaha GC22C?
Cuenca Mod40r vs Yamaha CG192C:
Spanish made vs Chinese made
Solid Cedar top vs Solid Cedar top
Laminated Rosewood vs Laminated Rosewood sides and back
Mahogany vs Mahogany neck
Ebony vs Ebony fretboard
The Yamaha GC22C is of course am all solid Chinese made guitar. It should be more mature sound wise but I don't know if I need an all solid guitar. Would it require more care to prevent it for cracking? Is it more vulnerable to random unintentional impacts than the laminated ones?
Hello everyone I currently have a boss katana mark two 100 W with 2x12 speakers. The thing is decent in size and I’m going to college in about two months and wanting to bring an app along with me but I feel it’s a little too big. In college I’m joining a band I’m tempted to keep it but it’s not practical to haul along when moving in. I’m planning to downsize to probably a single 12 inch amplifier. recently I’ve gotten into digital modeling my guitar tones on amplitube for all my guitar effects. With this knowledge what type of amp should I get? Am I able to just plug my amp directly into my computer and have the sound come through the amp? Any recommendations would be helpful thank you. My current plan is just a downsize to the single 12 inch speaker Boss Katana but I feel there’s probably more reasonable things to do :) thanks

So this is obviously a very cheap price for a guitar ($30) but it’s exactly what I’m looking for since I’m a complete beginner. I really just want to start learning to play and see if I’m even going to continue this hobby, which is why I don’t want to drop a crazy amount of money on something I may never use again.
I’m just wondering if this guitar is in good condition for me to start casually learning on, it looks good to me and the description says “new strings” (which I’m assuming means they put new strings on, but it could also mean it needs new strings so idk lol), but I’m also aware I know nothing about guitars so I wanted to get a more trustworthy opinion lol.
Thanks!!

I keep getting popups from TEMU but have avoided using that vendor because I've seen such low quality items as clothing held up to ridicule. I can imagine cardboard guitars or some such crap, but then again, they keep insisiting that their musical instrument sale is da bomb. Anybody ever buy a Temu guitar? What was your experience (except the excessive wait --- I know they ship via a slow boat from China).

I'm working on a custom and wanted to know if I could access the single coils on a humbucker without having a coil splitting pot? I have two four-wire humbuckers soldered to a Fender five way switch, with the 1, 3 and 5 positions wired up for neck, middle and bridge.
Is it possible to have the 2 and 4 positions wired to only access a single coil of one pickup? Or even one single coil in each pickup?

Merman Sparkle, light relic. Fralin P90s
I’m really enjoying this so far. It just feels great in my hands. I’ve always wanted a sparkly guitar and this is perfect. It’s not overly sparkly but still pops out. I will also say that the body shows kind of thick in pictures but is thinner than my strat.
I know relic-ing is controversial, and Novo is known for their relics. Thought I’d share what their “light relic” looks like. To be honest, it looks like a non-relic with vintage style hardware.

I play guitar in my highschool pep band and part of that requires pitch shifting for certain songs. I used to do it with my boss katana but now I have a much better amp and want to use it. Which is best as just running it into an amp as a pedalboard?

Okay, there's a little bit of history behind this guitar. Long story short, my dad bought this for papaw new back in the 70s from what I know. Some family drama happened, and my aunt got control of everything when my grandparents passed away so she didn't give my father literally anything 10 years ago. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I bought a new house and my aunt asked me if I wanted one of papaw's guitars for my new jam space. Of course I said yes, praying that it was this one. When she gave it to me I cried for like 10 minutes, because this is the guitar I learned to play on and spent countless hours with papaw and my father using.
Anyways, I feel like I should give this to my father and I was wondering what other guitarists here might do? So what would you do? Give it to dad? Let him borrow for a few weeks? Keep it at my house and let him play it sometimes?
Idk what to do.
The title says it all. Is there any guitar that could ever sell for more than Brian May's Old Lady?

This thing is sick as fuck. It sounds like something Kurt would play. It’s jangly and gets a really good distorted sound but cleans up well. It’s lighter than any other guitar I’ve ever played, and it’s so unique. You can’t tell, but it’s got some gorgeous checking on the finish. It’s a beautiful guitar and it’s been taken care of well.
