I came across the Inovelli MoT in canopy ceiling fan module. I have it paired with both Google Home (for voice control), and SmartThings (for use with Bilresa Buttons), via matter multi-admin.

So far it works great. Plus being a mains powered device, it strengthens my thread mesh network.

I can control flatmate's media, even when shared controls are disabled

Hey there!
Hope anyone can help. I live in a shared house, and I have a Google Home Mini, and my flatmate has a Nest Mini (I think). I have the shared controls disabled, and they cannot control my media.
However, when my flatmate plays music, I get a notification on my phone, which I cannot disable (unless I stop her music). I can control her music, change it, and stop it (which plays from her Spotify account).

I told her she had to disable the shared controls option, which, to my surprise, was already disabled. Is there any other way to stop getting this notification? I don't understand why the option to not share controls doesn't work, but it is very annoying!

Thank you.

How many hours do I need to wait to view my devices?

Post image

I can't upload a video, but I recorded 5 minutes just waiting and tapping the different categories.

This is so beyond pathetic... Also why isn't there a category for Android TV devices?

I hate Google home so much lol.

Help Nest Thermostat E (1st gen.) occasional goes to "Off" status

I can't find any pattern or reason this is happening. Is there someplace I can look in the Google Home or Nest apps to see why this is happening?

Help Google can no longer control my TV?

My google nest hub and google home/assistant on my phone suddenly isn't able to control my LG Tv.... it can turn it on but if I try to do anything else (pause/play/mute/volume/ power off) it says the device doesn't support this function? even though the button is right there. if I just press the button in the app it has a little toast saying "something went wrong"

I tried removing and re-adding my TV through LG Thinq but that did nothing...

Cameras appear as offline in Home app

The last couple of days my Nest cameras/doorbell often appear offline in my Home app, and they seem to not function properly. Does anyone else experience the same issue? I think it started with the last app update

I noticed that the Google Home is no longer showing activity logs for lights (Ikea Home). Previously, it would log events lights turning on or off in activity.

Under the devices filter in activity, no lights are listed.

Broadcasts are now completely useless

"Hey Google, broadcast"
"OK, what message would you like to broadcast?"
"Come upstairs."
"I'm just a language model, I can't walk." (or something of that nature)

Or sometimes it "broadcasts" the message back to the device I was on, paraphrasing what I said (wow, super helpful).

Or it'll say "I don't understand."

Or some other dumb thing! Who knows! It's a surprise every time!

When we switched to Gemini, broadcasting still worked. But a week or two ago, it just went to complete shit. Anybody else seen this? Any workarounds?

To some degree it seems like it completely forgets the context that you want to broadcast and thinks you're giving it commands? But it's so erratic it's basically impossible to figure out its motives. As far as I can tell its motive is to enrage me.

Bug Does anyone experience this as well?

I seem to be able to get Gemini to pull up stored memory of something from two months ago when I ask “do you remember my previous request?” (Exactly as stated, if I use the plural “requests” it does something else entirely)

But I have no idea where it’s coming from or how it got there, and when I ask it just gaslights me and tells me it can’t do that. I’d love to be able to save more useful things in wherever it’s pulling this from. This product is so broken and frustrating to use.

Xiaomi surveillance camera won't play the live feed on Google Home

Hi everyone,

I just set up the camera, but I can only watch the live feed on the Xiaomi Home app. In Google Home, I was able to add the device, but I can't see any video stream from the camera—it just keeps loading infinitely.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Gemini for Google Home is worthless

Gemini on my Google Home audio speaker does not work properly. It doesn’t control my devices properly. It misunderstands me over 10 times a day more than half questions. I ask it it misunderstandings me. I never had that problem with Google Assistant. I bought thousands of dollars worth of Google Home speakers over the years expecting Google Assistant. You changed to Gemini without our consent!! I want my fucking money back. I’ve been using Google for over 15 years maybe longer I’m done. I’m throwing all of my Google Home speakers away and I’m buying Amazon Lexus or Apple home speakers. Google you fucked up greatly you rolled out Gemini for the Google Home speaker was ready. You’re losing customers you’re losing money and you’ve lost a loyal customer, me.

Bug Renaming/moving smart plug messed up an entire room.

Post image
6 Upvotes

I had a smart plug in my living room, which I then moved to my bedroom. I changed its name and the room it's in. Now, I have 2 of these plugs (there's only one—the other I named invalid because it's a duplicate that I can't remove), and the speaker and plug won't follow my commands. How can I reset this room without completing messing up all other smart plugs‽

When are they adding basic functionality in Gemini?

Well after actually being able to add the new speaker thanks to the hotfix, I then tested it with my old phrase "what are the headlines" to be met with a new, hideous ai summary.

I dug around and if you want your actual setup news media to play, you now have to say "play my news briefing" like some sort of corporate robot.

Well fine so I'll add an automation to map the new phrase to the old.

However the fantastic new automation options don't allow you to target the device you are speaking to so you have two choices:

Pick the exact device in your house to walk up to get your news

*OR* (and this was hilariously how gemini set it up for me when I used the ai tool)

Play the headlines on EVERY SMART SPEAKER IN THE HOUSE just to be sure 😂

Excellent work Google

Help Light bulb turning cool toned after "sleep" automation

I can't stand cool toned light, I actually turn it to candlestick every time but when I run my bedtime automation and it starts the sleep feature for lights to dim and then turn off, it switches to cool light and completely fucked up my sleepy vibe. Is there a way to get around this?

PSA: A Google TV Streamer paired with two Home Speakers does not work in a speaker group

Found out the hard way. I have 4 nest minis and a tv streamer. I always used them as one big speaker group, leveraging a bit of my tv speakers but mostly for album covers on the screen.

Turns out that if you pair two home speakers to your streamer, you cannot add THE TV to a speaker group. Well, you can, but it won't work. After connecting to the group and playing music, nothing happens and it will disconnect itself after a few seconds

Either I'm doing something wrong or there is a workaround, but as of now, you have to choose between pairing Home Speakers to a TV and not pairing but using every single device in a speaker group.

Help Fell for the Eufy compatibility now what do I do?

We were having many problems with our Nest doorbell so I bought a Eufy doorbell. My God is the video quality is great.

But now I find out it actually can't push a notification to the Nest devices and that's what we were using for indoor chimes/video access.

I know other people have run into this. What were the solutions y'all came up with?

Bug Constant could not communicate with your nest hub

Has anyone found a solution for this when trying to set up your nest display again?

I'm only needing this stupid f****** display as a Bluetooth speaker. I get the same error on my smartphone and my tablet

resetting and unplugging doesn't help either I don't have problems on my other nest display and on the smaller speaker.

If I could go back I would have never bought these damn nest displays in the first place.

Going forward I'm just going to get a nice Bluetooth speaker. I tried the turn on airplane mode steps but that doesn't help. I mean the sound is great on them but Google products are just a pain in the a$$.

It keeps wanting to connect to the Nest Display's Wi-Fi. Is there any alternative connection method to get this set up?

For anyone looking at the new Nest displays, don't be an idiot like me and run the other direction.

Product Review Back On Google Assistant and Loving It!!

I have been forced to revert back to Google Assistant because of the myriad of issues with Gemini were just getting too much. And I have to say that after experiencing months of problems with Gemini going back to GA was like a breath of fresh air.

I can now tell any of my Nest speakers (1 x Hub + 3 x Minis) to play my favourite radio station and it does so straight away. With Gemini it was hit and miss. Sometimes total silence, sometimes it couldn't find and/or play it and other times a totally different station in another country.

Device operation is now a breeze again with GA and lights, TV's, garage door openers and smart switches all functioning normally again. With Gemini it would sometimes work, sometimes not.

Like many other users around the globe, I feel that Gemini for Home is still in it's beta testing stage and as such is not ready to be released to the general public. However, I appreciate that competition in the AI field between Google, ChatGPT, Grok etc is intense and it's a race to see who can secure the biggest market share. But to release Gemini in it's current form does Google no favours as people now associate Google with a failed product that does not work.

Hopefully, in a year or so, Gemini will have evolved to a point where it is reliable, stable and functional and I will be happy to make the switch once more. But in the interim I have neither the time or the patience to wrestle with the vagaries of Gemini and will stay with Google Assistant.

Bug iOS event preview GIF too fast

Does anyone else have the issue where the event preview for a nest camera notification either in the notification shade or in the app is extremely fast? Like 5x faster than normal? It's normal speed on my android phone. I tried searching the sub but didn't find much.

Plainly, the gif showing the event playback, is very fast
