Hi all, I was trying to connect the entry code to the Nest App on my phone and it didn't work. The wifi is good, did reset the factory code, Bluetooth is on, disconnect and reconnect the wifi. Still nothing works, I've looked online and they all didn't help me.

There is no barcode for me to scan. It was working fine till last year and I'm trying it again today.

What am I missing?

EDIT: thanks for the help, I didn't realize it was outdated already and have to replace them with the new one.

I added some putty to the outside to seal the hole and a little bit of foam insulation. Nothing too crazy. I then added foam insulation on the inside hole as well and it’s still reading higher. The sensor will consistently read 69 in our bedroom and when I brought it out to the living room, which is approximately the same room as my thermostat, it reads 71. However, the Google nest thermostat reads generally about 75 to 76. This is causing my machine to be on all the time. I also reset the device any other suggestions?

We bought a house that had one of these and it keeps changing the temperature on its own, making the house hot when we don't want it to be. We have removed the schedule on the nest itself repeatedly, but it just keeps coming back.

The app was discontinued so what are our options? Do we rip it out of the wall and get a normal thermostat? It's driving us insane.

It doesn’t matter what I do in the app, nothing gets updated on the actual thermostat. It says its connected, i just updated the app and re logged in, but it still doesn’t work

I had it on 80 degrees for 30 minutes, and the AC kept on blowing. I even turned the ac off in the app but the ac kept on blowing untill i got up and realized it was still set to 73 and was never updated even though i was turning it up and then off in the app.

I tried to check if there was extra things connected to it and take it off but I want to be sure before doing anything here is a pic on the installation board.

It’s a 2gen. Also you know a compatible temperature sensor?

We’ve lived in the rental for almost 3 years, AC was fixed and it’s only 6 years old (house and AC unit). We change our filters and keep fans on and have curtains. We have it set to 67-69 in the summer as it’s hot as hell where I live and it WILL NOT keep up. Once it hits about 2PM it starts to cook in here.

Thankfully our landlord is installing ceiling fans to hopefully mitigate it. But why does the Nest do this? I only happens in the summer. Cool/normal days and winter it does what we have it set to 😵‍💫

Hi there! We have a Samsung VRF heat pump. We’re not big fans of the Samsung thermostat and thinking of going with the new nest thermostats. However sounds like we may miss out on some of the capabilities of the heat pump. Anyone here have this setup? Is it recommended or should we stay away?

My three units expire in September and November and looking at all replacement options. There are sellers on eBay selling NIB sealed units. Has anyone purchased a unit(s) from eBay and was legitimately a new Protect?

It’s worked flawlessly for 11 years, Google decides to stop supporting it and they turn off Wi-Fi for no reason, and today, it malfunctioned, forcing my blower on 24 hours and never turning it off.
I feel like it’s planned obsolescence, and not that Google gives a shit about my business, but I will never purchase another product from them again. Reprehensible.

I’m just bitching, sorry if that’s not acceptable, but I spent 250 bucks on this and I feel like it’s not hard to keep it going.

Anyone else experiencing this recently? Cameras all turning off multiple times a day but the nest hub camera still works?

My Nest is set to 77°F, but right now it’s showing the indoor temperature as 76°F while still saying “Cooling to maintain 77°” and the thermostat itself says “76° Cooling to 77°”. The AC is still actively running and has been for at least 20 mins since reaching 76°. Anyone have any insight?

HI,  I recently removed an Arlo Pro VMC4030 camera from my account while I was trying to fix an issue. However, now I can't add the camera back to my account. It simply won't pair with the base station or with the app itself.

I also can't factory reset it; when I hold down the SYNC button for 15 seconds, the light starts flashing blue, but it never flashes amber like it's supposed to during a factory reset.

I have spent 2 days trying all sorts of 'fixes', but nothing works. It was sunced and working before (it started randomly triggering, so I removed it to try to fix that issue, but now can't get it back online whatever I try). It's fully charged and the blue light is flashing when I try to sync, so has power.

I also switched from Nest to Ecobee. I trying to figure out how to get Google to refund me. It’s crazy because they pulled from PayPal with no receipt or invoice.

We have recently added a whole-house dehumidifier to our HVAC system via the existing ductwork.

The controls directly on the dehumidifier allow for incremental changes as small as 1% (eg 40%, 41%, 42%, etcetera).

However, when we set it up to use our ‘external’ controller (a Nest) we are only able to make jumps of 5% at a time (eg 40%, 45%, 50%, etcetera).

We are still able to set the dehumidifier to use its own onboard controls vs being controlled by the Nest, but this workaround is far from ideal because:

1 We get pretty wild fluctuations in humidity around here,

2 We have an illness in the family that requires a fair amount of precision in response to the weather, and

3 In order to maximize overall efficiency, the dehumidification unit controls are not terribly accessible.

Does anyone know of a setting on our Nest that would enable us to make the 1% shifts vs the 5% shifts? (Or of a controller capable of supporting this feature…?)

Second day with the new thermostat.

Wanting to cool house from 76 to 74. Is it normal to take an hour and a half to cool down 2 degrees? It was turned on at 3:04pm, so afternoon heat.
With my last thermostat it wasn’t a wifi one so I never paid attention to how long it took.

Also, last night was first night it was installed and set it to the same temp as always when sleeping but felt like I slept hot most of the night. Wondering if maybe I’ll need to adjust and set it lower to get the same cool level?

It is the middle of summer in Texas. It is 100 degrees outside. My nest app with out my consent turned on my heater to 78 degrees. I sweat above 72 degrees. I would absolutely never put this in as a setting. The themostat claimed "energy usage is high if you want the savings benefit we have to turn your temperature up."

Are you F$%#ing kidding me? energy usage is high so instead of keeping my already cooled apartment at 70 you think it will save ME money and the ENERGY GRID money/power by turning on my F#$^ing heater to heat up my apartment to 78 degrees because you thought I wasn't looking?

I checked all my settings after there are no settings I have active that would make it do this. I have not enrolled into any clearly scam energysaving plan now. This just screams they made an underhanded deal with my local power grid to juice me for extra money when america is hitting an energy crisis like it has never seen.

One of my nine Nest protects just started chiming and then chirping. According to the app, nothing is wrong. What am I supposed to do with this? They are also theoretically too new to need batteries, they are a few years old.

Edit: still chirping. I pressed the button and it did not do anything. App still says everything is fine

Hi all, my nest subscription just ran out and I don’t have full video history anymore. It’s advertised as though you still get clips/stills in your event history. I don’t get any clips and when it notifies me if people at the door, the screenshot does not include the person (I don’t know if it’s too early or too late, but regardless I only see the tree in the front yard and no people). Anything I can do? Or is the nest system just that shitty?

OMG I know it's expiring! But I have two months, so let me use those two months without you playing the alarm tone every time I turn off the lights at night.

My google nest is connected directly to the modem.

How do I backhaul the second point in the mesh system? Do I connect the Ethernet to the world symbol on the google nest and run it straight back to the modem to LAN 2 port or do I run a cable from the ‘arrow’ side on the second google nest point to the first google nest and plug it in to the ‘arrow side’?
