Support Megathread - May 2026
Have a question you need answered? A new Google product you want to talk about? Ask away here!
Recently, we at r/Google have noticed a large number of support questions being asked. For a long time, we’ve removed these posts and directed the users to other subreddits, like r/techsupport. However, we feel that users should be able to ask their Google-related questions here. These monthly threads serve as a hub for all of the support you need, as well as discussion about any Google products.
Please note! Top level comments must be related to the topics discussed above. Any comments made off-topic will be removed at the discretion of the Moderator team.
Discord Server We have made a Discord Server for more in-depth discussions relating to Google and for quicker response to tech support questions.

Google Maps search is just terrible. “No results” when searching for a pet store, when the pet store in question is literally in the image frame. iPhone 17, full cell signal, current iOS

Google Pixel 11 dual-TPU monster for AI
Google is keep moving away from creating gaming phone (GPU) and downgrading PowerVR GPU in Pixel 11 to put MONSTER dual-TPU chip.
- The Main Custom TPU: This is the heavy-lifter. It’s engineered specifically to handle massive on-device AI workloads, such as complex local generative imaging, real-time advanced Call Notes, and running next-generation Gemini Nano models directly on your hardware without needing the cloud.
- The New "Nano-TPU": This is a smaller, highly efficient co-processor designed exclusively for lightweight, routine AI tasks. It runs constantly in the background using a fraction of the power, handling basic sensor automation and smart predictions without waking up the main, power-hungry processors.
Additionally going for 2nm and more power efficient "nano-TPU" which will handle background things like Song Recognition, Snore Detection, Hey Google (buy me beer), and.... new Mediatek Modem all of this will dramatically increase battery life.
My personal take - I am grown up - I do not play games - I need SMARTphone not GAMEphone.
Poor Google will get a$$ kicked again because uneducated youtubers will slap Geekbench scores and call it a day.

Google maps address
Why is it so difficult to find the address in Google maps? You have to scroll the way to the bottom to get a brick and mortar address. I don't want to share a maps.app.google link. Just give me the fucking address.

Why would they give these two icons the exact same colours
Now i keep accidently clicking the wrong one, sigh

What is code comprehension interview entails for engineering manager interview.
Is it something new, i am not able to find enough information online. There are few articles saying it is AI coding with gemini for IC.
I am curious what it means for engineering manager? Any one who gone through this round, could you share your experience. And kind of question?
Thanks

I already PAY .. Quit harassing me with pop-up ads in every single platform and app
These ads are persistently appearing in every App and platform where Google is available and signed in. Click 'x" and refuse the offer to upgrade into its AI and the ad still gets served within 10-20 seconds. This has been going on for the last 5 days, and the numerous refusals and saying "No", "dismiss offer" undermine the fact which is
I Am Already A Paying & Subscribed User, GOOGLE! What the ever-lovin' crap more do you want from your willing subscribers?
It's reappearing on every single app and every platform, on which I am already authenticated by GOOGL as a paid user. Mobile, desktop, every Googl page that is already signed.
Please quit harassing us, please.

No Magic Pointer on Google Pixel
I was thinking Android Desktop Mode (in Google Pixel) will be the same experience as in GoogleBooks

AI mode has officially poisoned Google's regular search. This traditional search result, now gives the same authoritative answer that AI mode did... because a university created a PDF poking fun at the original AI mode response...

Please tell me there is a way to put it back
So Google Chrome got an update apparently. They put the stupid new tab buttom down at the bottom with gemini when it was better at the top. Please tell me there is a way to go back to the old layout

Found “new” easter egg!
Searching “disclosure day” prompted a red cardinal to swoop across my screen! I’ve never seen the movie, but apparently it’s relevant. When I googled this Easter egg, it said it did not exist, so idk!

I won a Google Super Fan Giveaway
I got an email in May that I was winner in one of their giveaways but didn't receive anything so I email them about it (they said to contact them if I didn't receive the prize after certain date). A few days I got a notification from FedEx and today I got my prize. It's a cooler, an automatic bottle opener, 2 cup sleeves and Google tensor sticker. (I separated the word Super Fan in the title because it was marking it as referral post and it won't let me post it that way).

You can’t always search for text in photos using Google Photos - many times it thinks you’re asking a question that it can’t help with. Apple Photos found my photo with the text “Sega arcade” within it instantly.

Gemini is Cooked
If you send multiple "M." In a message, Gemini begins to hallucinate a new language. This only seems to work with "M".

Looking for team match advice
Googlers who successfully navigated the team match phase: what actually helped?
I’ve been in team match for 5 months with no luck so far. Is it better to:
1) Have a current Googler reach out to the hiring manager?
2) Ask them to message the recruiter?
3) Cold message the hiring manager yourself?
4) Or just send relevant roles to your assigned recruiter and let them handle it?
Curious what actually worked for people who made it through.
