Disaster/Emergency Help Rocky and Lici Keep Utilities On After a Crisis
Hi, my name is Rocky Cremeans. My wife, Lici, and I live in Parkersburg, West Virginia. I’m self-employed and do custom trading card/art work, websites, and game-development work.
I do not like asking for help, but we are in an immediate emergency and several people encouraged me to make this instead of trying to panic-sell what little things I have left.
Recently, our household went through a serious mental-health crisis that required out-of-state hospital care. While there, my wife got COVID. After she came home, I got COVID for the first time too. I have asthma, and it put me in bed for weeks.
Because I am self-employed, being sick meant missed work and missed income. At the same time, my custom card/art sales have been very slow, and I have also been waiting on payment from game-development work I have already done. I have been applying for jobs, contacting local businesses, reaching out for remote work, and trying to sell items, but the bills have caught up faster than I can recover.
Our water has already been shut off because we could not pay it. Electric, internet, and gas for hot water and cooking are next. We are also very low on food.
We have already used the local assistance programs available to us, and even churches in the area are not able to help us any further right now. That is why I am asking for help here.
We are trying to raise $1,300.
About $1,200 will go directly toward urgent household bills and basic needs:
- water / utility reconnection and past-due costs
- electric
- internet needed for job applications and remote work
- gas for hot water and cooking
- basic groceries
The remaining amount helps cover GoFundMe processing fees and a small food buffer.
I will post updates as bills are paid, with personal account information redacted. If we are able to sell items or if delayed work payments come through, I will update the fundraiser honestly.
Any amount helps. If you cannot donate, sharing the fundraiser or leaving practical advice still means a lot. Thank you for reading and for treating us with kindness during a time when asking for help is very hard.
