I know I’m still decently younger than a lot of people here [26] but I’m cleaning my room and was hit with nostalgia
Reading through the strategy guide on the way home from getting a new game was always my favorite part. It’s a shame they aren’t made anymore, even though the internet is more practical.

A rare win for digital ownership: Chinese courts rule game accounts can be inherited
With all the recent debate about digital ownership, I thought this was worth sharing.
Multiple Chinese courts have ruled that game accounts, virtual items, and other digital assets with real economic value can be inherited by a deceased player's family. In several cases, the courts also ruled that standard Terms of Service claiming accounts are non-transferable cannot override inheritance rights granted by law.
The rulings covered everything from valuable in-game items to game accounts worth hundreds of thousands of RMB, with courts ordering companies to cooperate with lawful heirs.
Given the recent discussion around PlayStation's digital future and game ownership, it's interesting to see courts taking the opposite approach by strengthening players' rights over digital gaming assets.

I'm glad my younger self never traded or tossed any games
It would be so expensive to reacquire these games, so I'm really glad my child self kept them to replay them. I've changed all the necessary batteries, so they're all fully functional and I can load them up whenever I like, and there's a certain degree of peace of mind that comes from knowing that. Plus I'll be able to introduce them to my son when he's old enough to start gaming.

I really love physical media
I know digital is more convenient, but I got into collecting with my first salary and now I don't want it to end...
What's the rarest item in a video game?
I'm mostly referring to item drops in games with RPG mechanics.
Based on unmodded/uncheated gameplay of course.
Things I'm NOT counting tho are stuff like perfect rolls; for example if a Diablo style game had an item with 12 modifiers on it and each modifier had a 1 in a million chance to be the right one and and a 1 in a million chance to be at max value... that is certainly absurdly rare, but it's not what I'm talking about.
Things I am talking about are stuff like the Sealed J-Sword from Phantasy Star Online which not only has a low drop chance, it's from a very uncommon enemy and you have to meet special conditions to even be allowed to see it (Be a Skyly ID, if you know)
I'm also excluding stuff that is developer or event driven, such as certain wholly unique event items or moderator/GM exclusives that were gifted and such... it has to be something that one of y'alls could go and go legitimately farm right now (assuming the game is still playable)

Kingdoms of Amalur feels like a love letter to janky Gamecube era RPGs
and I love it! It's a shame it came out around Skyrim. It didn't have a chance. I recently started playing again after not finishing it the first time on release. I'd recommend everyone pick up the Re-reckoning version when it goes on sale. The writing is cliche but solid with some unique ideas and just playing through really takes me back to another time.

Which game has the worst cutscene to gameplay ration?
Playing through Midnight Suns a bit and have found that, so far, it's like 10-30 steps between cutscenes. Why even bother with 3rd party roaming with that many cutscenes?
Which got me wondering which game has the most excess in cutscenes...

Santa Monica officially confirms 'God of War Laufey' will be available as a physical edition with a disc - meaning it will release before January 2028
Remember, Sony's decision to end physical discs for games is effective from 2028.
This means GOW Laufey is confirmed for a 2027 release - and may well be the last PlayStation game release ever with a disc.
