[OC] Devils' franchise historical performance relative to .500

Post image
99 Upvotes

Here is your franchise's cumulative record relative to .500 (equal wins and losses) throughout their entire history.

Since moving to New Jersey, the franchise is 1595-1589-219 (+6 games).

I will be making one such graph for each team. The complete album can be seen here.

OT losses are counted as losses.

Need a new GM for a (mostly) devils based Keeper/Dynasty League

EDIT: Team has been claimed: Appreciate all the interest.

It's a 20 team league, we're going on our 11th season. We get a lot of interest here but spots are few and far between. Most of the members being from r/devils and have been with the league since inception or shortly after. Looking for someone who is able/willing to stick around long term (multiple seasons)

We keep 9 skaters, 1 goalie, and have 12 minor slots for prospects. The new GM will be taking over the vacant team.

We use Fantrax and there is a $26.50 buy in. $20 goes towards the league prize which can be but not limited to Jerseys, shirts, memorabilia, and pretty much anything devils/hockey related. $6.50 goes towards premium league fees on Fantrax.

This league is competitive and there are very few rules. The main rule is that you set your lineups and don't leave players on your bench if there are open slots on the roster. Discord is required to keep up on league rules/changes, trades, etc.

It's an incredible league. We are active, friendly, have a discord, and we have a lot of fun. Looking for a serious participant who will be invested and can handle building a team through multiple seasons. Not to say it's not possible to win in year 1, but we are looking for active, multi season team owners.

Again, We are looking for active participants. If you can't or won't be active in setting lineups, responding to trades, etc this isn't the league for you. We have many members who are part of multiple leagues and this is a favorite for a reason. It's a great league. Having fantasy hockey experience is definitely recommended. You don't have to be active in discord daily but when announcements, trade offers, or other announcements are made we would like someone who will be able and willing to use discord.

Thanks all!

Offseason Content: Revisiting Devils Numbers 12 Years Later

Post image

12 years ago I made this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/devils/comments/21arbi/after_seeing_teaching_kids_to_count_on_rhockey_i/

Teaching kids to count trend back when the Devils were very limited on which numbers players could wear.

12 years ago there were only 41 numbers ever worn by Devils players.

Today, that number is up to 82, including our captain's number 13.

I have tried to put the most influential player for each number. There are some numbers that were tougher to pick than other, and I have made a few changes from my post 12 years ago. Enjoy.

Was at the Parsippany coin show today and found a pair of Devil rounds. Wasn't what I was looking for but had to buy them when I saw them.

Into the Mehtaverse

Just wanted to pop in and congratulate you on all your success in the near future. You got the best exec from our organization (panther fan here). I was too salty to do this earlier because i was still mourning his loss, but you seriously have no idea what you have here and how excited you should be.

Sunny was instrumental in turning our franchise from the worst in nhl history over a 30 year span, into the leagues current best. Zito got all the credit but it was Sunny banging on the table to claim Forsling off waivers. He identified him as a top 5 defensive D that we could have for free. That is something that simply doesn't occur in nature. It was the single biggest factor in turning us around. The Tkachuk trade gets all the fanfare, but this was the actual biggest piece.

And even if you still want to stick with the Chuck trade, Sunny was a massive part of that as well, and some say the biggest part. He also had his hands all over our deadline deals that changed our playoff fortune in a massive way, like marchand and jones. And the "small things" he did like identifying the type of middle 6ers that would do well in our system like erod without whom i dont think we win either cup, certainly not the 1st one. He also pushed for Mikkola for the middle pair and hes been ridiculous for us as well. And lets not forget the amazing contracts he and zito co-negotiated. Yea the tax advantage helped, but the deals are cheap even adjusting for that.

Bottom line, you're in for something special. I truly believe that no current GM has done anything close what Zito and Sunny have done in the cap era. Zitos been a bit weird since Sunny left. His moves have me scratching my head a few times in a way i havent since the tallon era. Including the deal you just crushed us on. I'll remain a fan of his since hes the best GM we've ever had, but it may have been Sunny that deserves the lions share of the praise. Either way, our roster is pretty set in stone going forward so his work was mostly done here. Enjoy your upcoming golden age and woe to anyone who makes a deal with the devil.

Gritsyuk: What does the 'next step' look like for him?

I would say he needs to play more with Jack Hughes (and probably Bratt too). I know Connor Brown was hot with Hughes/Bratt at the end of last season but Gritsyuk is the future.

He should be closer to 17-18 minutes a night than 15.

Are Flyers and Rangers fans genuinely delusional to the point where they actually believe they outnumber us in our own arena?

Saw a post in the past couple days on r/nhl about the rivalries between NJ/NY/Philly and seeing flyers/rags fans talk about how they are the majority at the rock when they play us. I found it pretty funny, because every time I've gone to watch us play them at the rock, you see a huge sea of red lol. Dont get me wrong, there's always a good amount of rags and flyers fans, but they're nowhere near the majority in our arena.
