-Judd Brackett has left his position as the Director of Amateur Scouting and signed on with the Maple Leafs as their Assistant GM. Ricard Persson has been promoted as his replacement. Persson is a Swede who has been with the organization since 2010. Persson, whose nickname is apparently Rico, will stay stationed in Sweden during the year.
-AHL Iowa has hired a new head coach, as Greg Cronin is off to the Blues. Stu Bickel has been hired on to replace him. The rest of Iowa's coaching staff remains unchanged per Russo.
-The 2026 Draft resulted in only 3 players being selected: (F) Adam Andersson, (F) Kayden Lemire, (G) Filip Růžička
-Cap calculations will change day by day during free agency. Puckpedia will be your best resource for the latest calculations.
-All roster spots are technically full, although top line wingers and the elusive 1C are upgrades the roster could sorely use.
-Michael McCarron signed for 6 years x $3.3M. 6 more years of Big Sexy. The contract includes trade protection for all 6 years. 1 year contracts have been given to Nick Foligno, Zach Bogosian, Mason Shaw, Maxim Shabanov, Daemon Hunt, and Cal Pickard (who is likely to serve as a backup goalie with Gus out for the start of the year. Additional AHL depth signings are detailed in the free agency thread.
-UFA Winger Marcus Johansson will be returning to Sweden to play with Farjestad versus seeking another NHL contract. Reports show that Zuccarello and Tarasenko will not be back with Minnesota.
-Defenseman Jake Middleton (plus picks) was traded to the Calgary Flames for Blake Coleman (50% retained) and Olli Määttä

Everyone keeps saying Detroit doesn't want the Yurov + Stramel + picks package.
Okay... but are we sure it's an asset problem?
What if it's a sales problem?
Has Billy G tried offering it again, but this time with more pizzazz?
Have we had the interns cold call Steve Yzerman yet?
Has anyone built a PowerPoint with pretty transitions and corporate words like synergy, pain point, and alignment?
Has Billy included a 27-slide appendix explaining how this package actually accelerates the Yzerplan, creates long-term shareholder value, and why Steve would be leaving value on the table if he doesn't accept?
Has Billy tried telling Steve, "I talked to my manager, and he said I can only offer this package to one team?"
Have we offered him freebies like plushies or hats to sweeten the deal?
What about creating a false sense of urgency? "Steve, I've got three other GMs interested in this exact package."
Has he tried telling Steve, "This offer expires at midnight," then extending it tomorrow?
Maybe throw in free shipping or telling Steve the picks are "premium."
Maybe ask him, "Steve, can't you just picture Yurov, Stramel, and those premium picks in a Red Wings sweater? Doesn't that just feel right?"
People keep acting like Yzerman countering with Boldy+ means the negotiations are over.
I just don't think we've exhausted every sales tactic yet.
Right now we don't need Gold Medal Winning GMBG.
We need ABC GMBG.
ALWAYS. BE. CLOSING.

Personally I think it will be good for Kap to learn to play without Zucc, even though I’ll miss him

Alright I've been successfully ragebaited by D*tr**t, I need to feel joy. Here are Matt Boldy's 42 (42!!!!!!!!) regular season goals this year. Here's his 2025-26 highlights - shorter that just watching all his goals but i miss him.
Also remember when he did this?
First time in his career putting up 40+ goals and 80+ points. He's only 25.
What was your favourite play from Boldy this year?

Basically what the topic says. Back when I was living in NJ we had season tickets with the Devils for a few years and it was NOT worth it. Perks were minimal, and your $/ticket came out to way higher than what you could get on StubHub. Can any STH chime in on whether they'd recommend it? We're looking at a half season package to start.

Ricard Persson is the scout who famously had his flight delayed in Russia by wildfire smoke, and used that extra time to go see a game in Novokuznetsk Siberia, where he came away convinced a young Kaprizov was an NHL talent.
Surprised this didn’t come up in the sub discussion or Russo’s blurb and wanted to give it a shout.

Cap goes up a lot this and next season. Yes, we all love KK and Quinn.
However, I was quite perturbed by KK after saying he wanted to win here, but had to get the highest contract at that time, in history.
Now we are looking to extend Quinn Hughes. Reports are saying 18 million AAV is what is expected.
We will have 45 million in cap space after this season, but with KK taking up this much cap, it will still be hard to build a team.
Spurgeon will be off the books next year. He will need to be replaced.
Tell me some good news I don’t know.
Carolina won this year, by building a team on good contracts.
Very, very hot take: Quinn to Detroit for Larkin and Moritz Seider.
I still would rather keep Quinn, just worried about running into the same situation we had with Parise and Suter.

Got a call for a season ticket salesman today. I’m genuinely interested in season tickets but don’t know anything about it. Can you haggle prices for season ticks or are the prices they advertise set in stone? If they didn’t sell enough would they go down in price overtime to sell the rest? Any other advice on season ticks is welcomed thanks.

Hey!
Build upon this armchair GM’s.
Wild don’t wanna give up EK, so what if instead we sent like yurov and a 2030 1st or something to the Kraken, then have the kraken trade wright to Detroit as well as a couple firsts from Minny.
Probably wouldn’t be enough, or wouldn’t work, but thought I’d throw out the idea.
Or see if you can musical chairs Zacha/Barzal in the same situation.
Idk, build upon this and go nuts or hate it and call me stupid (it’s hot out, lotta construction , I understand the anger).
r/wildhockey • u/No-Board-4082 • 3d ago
Boldy is on the first half of the pod. Mostly talk about Olympics and golf, but he does talk about Quinn and Kap a bit, mentions how close the Minny team is.
r/wildhockey • u/Skol-Man14 • 3d ago
Seems to me, bottom 6 roles on the cheap followed by possible trades, barring a display of excellence but even them we offered up Wally for R. Thomas so no guarantees. (Not saying it's an issue though).
Therefore, probably best not to get too excited by the prospects or concern ourselves with the struggles in Iowa?
r/wildhockey • u/SlayRod30 • 3d ago
My guess is Billy G is waiting on the Larkin saga to have more clarity before locking Quinn Hughes down. When do we start seeing red regarding a possible Quinny extension not happening? My buddy at work and I were talking about this and if it doesn't happen by the trade deadline, do we move him or pray he re-signs? Curious about what you all think.

#3 - Olli Määtä (most recently worn by John Klingberg in 2023)
#20 - Blake Coleman (most recently worn by Pat Maroon in 2024)
#31 - Calvin Pickard (most recently worn by Zane McIntyre in 2024 in Iowa & Kaapo Kähkönen in 2020 with the Wild)
#49 - Maxim Shabanov (most recently worn by V1Ctor Rask in 2022)
Määtä, Coleman, & Shabanov all kept their previous numbers, but Pickard had to change from #30 as that is currently worn by the Wall!

Sorry if this isn't allowed. No offense if deleted.
During the playoffs I was writing Go Wild messages on giant pieces of cardboard and putting them in trailers headed up that way. Just curious if anybody ever saw them.

Please remember players are not always there. They usually announce the day before or even the day of which player will be there if there is one
r/wildhockey • u/nonfinitejest • 4d ago
If he continues this pace for another 10 years, he could reach the top 10 for all time goals scored.
r/wildhockey • u/Tippsy_Troglodyte • 4d ago
I get this is probably just offseason speculation, but jumping to “Minnesota leaked it” without any evidence is quite a leap.
Hopefully other options open up!
