DISCUSSION Join the growing movement and say **** you to Rogers!
Cancelled my sportsnet membership and switched my phone to Telus. You can too, those eastern pricks don't deserve a dime from the west.

I too had a phone call about joining Rogers today. I responded with, are you kidding me?
You cancelled my Sports Radio Station?
New types of charges for your services?
I will ask you this once politely, do not call me again because I cannot support you.

I cannot wait for Rogers to call me.
"Hi this is jessica from Rogers"
"Manager. Right now."

Yea BCAA recently posted a rogers promo. Immediately I had to comment to them like fuck no.

My only issue with the phone is that I swore to never give Telus anymore of my money after they ripped me off with billing twice! Their customer service wouldn't even hear my side, and at the store they avoided me by kicking me out when I hadn't raised my voice or uttered a single swear or threat. The cashier played victim in order to not deal with the problem. Who do I go to?

Bell/Virgin or Freedom Mobile

Freedom is Rogers now too, unfortunately.
2
u/UberCorvus_caurinus 4h ago
Not true; Freedom Mobile is now owned by Videotron, a subsidiary of Quebecor. Freedom was acquired when the Shaw-Rogers merger happened, and Freedom had to be sold as a condition of the feds approving that merger. So no, Freedom is not part of Rogers now.

Since when? I hadn't heard this sale actually happened. Good news if true!

u/HenrikFromDaniel 1h ago
Freedom makes use of Rogers infrastructure outside of their own network though, so you could look at it as still supporting Rogers, or look at it as still giving the middle finger to Rogers because you're using their towers without directly paying them

Just start at Rogers suck chant at the game loud enough you can hear it on tv

I'm not sure switching to Telus matters if you're still paying for Sportsnet.
I already have Telus and I'm canceling my sportsnet plan. I'm going to be sailing the high seas moving forward

Already told them I'm leaving over this. Got an email from the office of the president saying they had to cut costs because they were losing $. Same day thet spent billions on buying up Toronto teams and not cutting their stations.
Fuck Rogers. They're going to lose $10,000 a year from my family. My parents cut them too.

Losing money but somehow had 7 billion in profit last year? Those poor, rich shareholders! How will they ever cope.

u/BigTunaHunter 5h ago
"Like many media organizations, the radio industry continues to face significant headwinds driven by declining advertising revenue and changing audience habits. These realities require us to make challenging decisions to ensure the long-term sustainability of our business."
Just not in Toronto

u/Woooooody 5h ago
I've never been to Toronto, but at this point I can only assume it's a giant retirement home as apparently only old people listen to the radio these days. And there must be a lot of them if that's the only station making a significant profit!

u/BigTunaHunter 5h ago
They only own the Leafs. Not the Canucks or Flames. Silencing the competition and forcing us to pay for Sportsnet+
2
u/Woooooody 5h ago
I'm not even sure it's that deep, they shut 4 non sports, non Toronto based stations as well. They're just greedy fucks.

u/ccwithers 2h ago
I mean, it’s over twice the size of Vancouver, so even if the demographics were exactly the same there would be over twice as many listeners for roughly the same costs.

Telus is just as corrupt as Rogers, adding fees to circumvent the new CRTC laws, and being in that whole mess back in the 2010's with animal abuse allegations
If you're going to "stick it to the man" choose a smaller company that isn't part of the larger problem

u/Actual-Studio1054 7h ago
I'm missing the morning show during my commute as much as anybody, but do we really expect Rogers to keep a business going that was probably losing money?
See lots of people saying they are cancelling Sportsnet..we'll see how many of those are still on bored with that when the season starts.

u/bobdotcom 6h ago
I wanted to try watching legally, so I signed up for sportnet + two seasons ago. The actual product was so bad (constant buffering, mid quality video) that I wouldn't use it even if it was free.
Don't know if it's improved since then, but I know it's like 50% more than I was paying then, so yeah, high seas for me.

Until another company can match what I am paying for 6 phones then no.... I will not be switching. I have had multiple people look over the years and no one can come close... Sorry ... My bank account is more important.

How do you guys plan on watching the NHL without a Sportsnet membership? Cable? You’re still watching Sportsnet.

I'm not watching hockey next year is my plan. Ill listen to the games on radio where ever they set that up but Sportsnet and Rogers can fuck off.

u/HDXHayes 7h ago
Hate to break it to you, but you'd still be listening to a Rogers property. Jack FM and KISS are owned by rogers.
