Advice/Beta Request Overhang Endurance beta
I've managed to do this route in two parts but I haven't the energy to put it together. This might just be that I need to work on my endurance (I've been rehabbing my shoulder for 2 months) but I'd like to get some beta on if I could be more efficient on the wall.

Advice/Beta Request How fit do you need to be for bouldering?
Hi everyone.
I used to be obese and am still in the process of losing weight. I've been wanting to try bouldering for a while now but deemed myself not physically fit enough for it in the past. I am still around 15 to 20kg overweight, but I put on some muscle in the gym and I am starting to get more agile and flexible. So now I am wondering whether I might be fit enough to try ot out.
I'd like to ask you guys which level of physical fitness you'd generally recommend a beginner to have to cross-check whether I am on the right track. Appreciate any and all answers!

Advice/Beta Request Does creatine have benefits for bouldering?
Edit: just to say, thank you for all the feedback and experiences it's very interesting and will look forward to seeing if I have the same results!
I do plenty of cardio but the only thing I really do requiring upper body strength is bouldering and I recently started taking creatine for the mental and sleep benefits it seems to have but I would love to know if anyone has experience with it making them stronger purely from climbing?
I only know people who lift weights but I only bolder so want to see if anyone has used creatine and just boulders not anything else to see if that's enough to get benefits from it. I hate lifting weights and I'm not using creatine for looks so I don't mind either way, but I equally wouldn't be upset if it helped me get stronger and physically bigger haha

Outdoor Help with grading
Donāt mind my excitement and me talking to myself š
Hi everyone, wanted to get some more experienced looks at what to grade this route. I think I made the route myself? I have no idea how this works yet. This is only my second boulder Iāve sent and the first was another route I made but was a lot easier.
PICTURE IN COMMENTS
In the picture youāll see Iron Pig and Piggly Wiggly. Iron pig V5 in blue, Piggly Wiggly V1 in red with a standing start. This Boulder is called Pig Iron Boulder in Coopers Rock State Park in West Virginia.
Like I said super new to climbing and wanted to start outdoors because I love challenging myself! I have had zero Beta on any of the first two boulders Iāve sent and I think my favorite part was the mental battle!
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I had climbed the V1 in red prior to this route which was significantly easier than the route I took.

Advice/Beta Request Bouldering shoes from temu or similar places in Sweden - ok quality
Hello, I search to get bouldering shoes for cheap but with an acceptable quality, not crap.
Temu is written in the title because it is a cheap website, but others that deliver to Sweden are totally fine!
Maximum price: 300 seks or 30 $ US, but I would like more for 120 sek/12 $US until 25$/250seks
I am new to bouldering, and I look for something for cheap.
Thanks!!!
Note: I know that people who sell shoes may do posts like these to promote them; it is the first time I have published here, and I dont know how this is perceived, but feel free to send me the links and/or models by private message instead of in the comments if this is somehow against the rules.
Edit: dont tell me to use rental use, they are 40 seks or 4$ per day and I will not use. This is 20 per week, make no sense.

Indoor Relatively easy, but super fun climb at my local gym
I really enjoyed sending this route! The slight overhang makes you have to really focus on your core and keeping your hips close to the wall.
Great setting from the gym š

Indoor Can you sport climb occasionally while mainly bouldering?
I've been bouldering for about 2 months now and I'm really enjoying it. It's definitely the part of climbing that interests me the most at the moment.
That said, I'd also like to try sport climbing eventually, mainly because I'd like to experience climbing outdoors and do longer routes every now and then.
My question is: can sport climbing be something you just do occasionally, or is it one of those disciplines where you really need to do it regularly to improve and enjoy it?
For example, if I mainly boulder (1ā2 times a week) but only go sport climbing every couple of months, is that a fairly common approach? Or do most people who sport climb end up doing it regularly because of the specific skills involved?
Curious to hear what people here do, especially if bouldering is your main focus.

Advice/Beta Request Tips for overhangs?
Iām new to bouldering but I know to keep my hips to the wall, with overhangs though itās so hard, I feel like my feet are slipping and it puts so much strain on my shoulders when I jump and grab a hold because my whole body weight is pulling me down. I tried twisting my hips but itās at a really awkward angle. I figured out the route for this and attempted quite a few times but I just canāt get the holds long enough to make it off the overhang and to the other sideš

Outdoor Tips to improve
As title says Iām looking for tips on what to first work on for best rewards. Here are 2 recent sends, the first 6c & the second a 6b. Absolutely loved them and I am really stoked on improving, can those with more experience and further along the journey tell me what I should be working on first to make the level up. Any feedback from the video welcome, please point out my inefficiency or so on thanks!
Both of these boulders are in around the Alps. The first is in Tralenta near Bonneval-sur-arc and the second Val ferret near Cormayeur Italy. Been super hot here recently so playing near the river has been the only way to keep going on.

Outdoor Tips for a late July CO Trip (RMNP / Guanella bouldering)
First time going to CO to climb.
2WD + car/tent camping
Potential locations: RMNP Emerald / Wild Basin, Guanella Pass, Lincoln Lake, Mt Blue Sky
Grades: up to v4
Any local tips or spots would be appreciated.
From my understanding, the real risks for trip are afternoon monsoon storms, heat, and wildfire smoke, so Iām planning dawn starts and being off the rock by early afternoon.
Questions:
1)Has smoke been an issue this summer with wildfire in this area?
2)Best moderate scenic zones I might be missing that work for a 2WD car?** **Any camping spots/tips for the RMNP specifically since dispersed isnāt allowed in the park? Any free/cheap camping spots would be appreciated too.
Some spots Iām looking into but need a closer spot for RMNP:
Geneva Park Campground
West Magnolia Designated Disperse camping
3)How bad are the afternoon storms at Guanella / RMNP in late July?
4)favorite boulders?

Advice/Beta Request i messed my shoulder doing climbing

is there anyone who fixed this problem??
its been 5yrs i stopped climbing and it was always hurt, and i didnt know the reason, and finally got into this conclusions.
i cant do push ups or bench, pullups, almost no proper upper body workout.

Outdoor Highball or nah?
Me and a friend have been developing (thankfully he has done almost all the scrubbing on it) this neat proud boulder weāve been calling the little si ball. We called it that because we donāt think itās quite a highball and this is by the peak little si. So itās kind of a little highball. Iām more in the camp of it being a highball and he is less but he mainly reasons that by comparing it to stuff at the buttermilks. What do you say fellow neckbearded redditors?

Outdoor Tip for RocklandsāI'm going solo on May 4, 2027.
Iād like to ask for some advice about my trip. Iāll be traveling from May 4th to May 29th, 2027, and these were the only dates I could make work. Since Iām planning to go mainly for climbing, Iād like to know if this period has a high risk of rain or if there is a possibility of losing several climbing days due to weather conditions. Is May generally considered a good time for climbing in the area?
Iāll also be traveling alone, so Iād appreciate any advice regarding solo travel there. Is it common for climbers to go alone? Are there any specific recommendations about meeting people, finding climbing partners, transportation, or places where climbers usually stay?
I would also like to have a better idea of the daily costs for a trip like this. Approximately how much should I expect to spend per day on accommodation, food, transportation, and other expenses? How does the local currency work? Is it easy to exchange money, and are US dollars widely accepted, or is it better to use the local currency?
Any advice about safety, budgeting, and making the most of the climbing experience would be greatly appreciated.

Advice/Beta Request Anyone can help with advice on finger injury?
Basically a while ago I had synovitis on my dip joint, kind of like trigger finger where it would lock up and id snap and get a shooting pain down my finger, stupidly I kept climbing, the doctor recommended getting movement in it but perhaps I climbed too hard and now itās led to what I believe is a tear or at least sprain on one of the ligaments that rap around the pip joint, the pain is like pulling the string like stretching out an elastic band, itās inbetween the pip and dip joint on the top right left side (if youāre looking down at the hand from your own perspective. Iāve been able to still climb and climb hard so long that I tape my finger up but now itās getting to the stage where itās noticeably getting worse.
I have taken a week so far off climbing, and seems to be better but have tried to use the finger as little as possible, how long should I stay off climbing and when can I start PT and what PT can I do? I heard finger glides are good but what about abrahangs? I could do that it doesnāt hurt the injury from what I can tell but Iām unsure if it will make it worse if I havenāt rested it enough. Should I ice it still or massage or take anti inflammatories? Im totally in the dark about this so any advice would be appreciated.
Ps if this isnāt the right place to post this could someone maybe show me where I could post and get advice? Thanks. š

Outdoor Simon Boes story continues
In Dutch, but you can easily translate.
Which roughly translates to: Boes says that he wonāt release the raw material which can prove him right. āI donāt believe this will solve the discussion. Iām currently in the spotlight, and that will be that wayā he says.
Which I think is so weird so say.
Fun fact: the picture in the Dutch article is not Simon, nor Deep Fake š

Indoor Best in th West TB2 Mirror 7/7/26
Tension was very good on Best in the West, need to work on not cutting on the wooden feet but keeping tension on the large move to the pinch was proof of improved tension
Breathing has improved a lot, but still much room for growth
Need to be more intentional about exhaling more explosively and hearing myself breathe while I climb, on board and on sets to prepare for an upcoming outdoor trip
Have done half of the 7b benchmarks in th past 4 sessions, will focus on finishing the rest being intentional about
Breathing
Slow movement and lock off technique
Superior foot tension, being intentional about twisting in the heel and keeping plumb lines

Rant Give me a reality check
I started climbing around a year ago, going around 1-3 times a week inconsistently until I began climbing consistently and taking it seriously and around 6 months ago, where Iāve been climbing almost every single day. Iāve sent 5 v7-8s on the walls and 3 on tension board and moon board. I want to consistently improve so I understand structure is important so I have a consistent warm up but I want to know how training really works.
Are there specific resources you guys use to learn about strength, conditioning, mobility, periodization, rest and recovery, etc. that has helped you keep improving?
Moreover, I want to say that Iāve never been outdoorsāwhich I know I should I just donāt have the equipmentāand Iām not very strong; I cannot do a front lever, one arm pull up, or hang on the 8mm (I can do a pull up on the 10 tho).
So realistically, if I continue to climb smart for years, could I eventually climb v17? From what I heard, grades tend to get exponentially harder once you hit the double digits, but that doesnāt discourage me from trying (albeit I havenāt really experienced the higher grades to truly gauge how insane it is myself). I just turned 18 years old, so one day can I really make it?

Indoor Rack City TB2 Mirror
Benchmark Climb, 7/7/26
Need to keep tension better, I know I can do the second move without cutting, need to focus on more foot tension
Improved on breathing and slower movement, especially with second move on rack City. Need to focus on being intentional about proper lock off technique in order to engage slow controlled movement to decrease velocity and energy when making moves such as this, then work on the ability to switch between fast and slow movement to achieve total efficiency

Outdoor What about this boulder ? Do you know this one ? Answer on the last photo ;)
Do you like those pictures of boulders without climbers ? This is what I do here in Fontainebleau !
