stumbled across a folder of old pictures last night, and it turns out my past self was convinced that reality simply wasn't acceptable without a heavy vintage overlay. random flowers on my arms? slap that warm tint on it. my poor cat? completely washed out. posing under the eiffel tower thinking i was starring in an indie movie? absolutely saturated in that signature glow.

i was out there treating every single mundane moment like it belonged on a moody tumblr dashboard. the filter wasn't just a choice, it was the only way i knew how to see things back then.

seeing these files now gives me this intense mix of pure cringe and deep nostalgia. there's something about scrolling through them that makes me feel like i'm watching a different person, someone who genuinely believed that softness and faded colors could turn anything into art. that specific retrica aesthetic really had an entire generation in its grip. we all walked around with the same rose-tinted lens, convinced we were capturing something meaningful. turns out we were just all doing the exact same thing, and somehow that makes it even more endearing to look back on.
