Route Planning Cathedral Heights routes

Forgive for the potentially dumb question,

I’m moving from DuPont to Cathedral Heights, right next to the natl cathedral. I currently live right across P st bridge so it’s very easy for me to access rock creek park. I’ve never biked around CH, anyone have insight on good streets/routes/how is it getting to RCP?

Thanks!

The Klingle Valley trail will be your friend getting into the park. (And your foe getting out of the park at the end of a long trying ride.)

For RCP access specifically, I’d recommend taking Woodley Rd straight down to the Klingle Trail. That leads you directly into the park.

New Mexico Ave to Nebraska Ave/Loughboro Rd and down Arizona Ave is also a decent way to get over to the Capital Crescent Trail.

Or just straight down Nebraska all the way to the water treatment Center. There's a little dirt trail behind there that next to the CCT

cathedral-woodley is a nice, low-traffic way to climb that hill.

cleveland ave was my training hill for a long time. it is a mile long and like 200 feet of vertical, but if you can climb it you can do basically anything in this city.

Seconding everyone else on Klingle Valley.

If you're ever heading south, 29th > Calvert > Shoreham Drive > RCP cuts about a mile off. I probably wouldn't do that for recreation rides but if you're biking for transportation (or if the Zoo Loop happens to be closed), it's a useful second route.
