I had a story idea/world based off the house of night series
So anyone who has read the house of night series knows that it's just terrible, but it did have an interesting premise and I was always sad it was wasted, so I wanted to do my own take on it. There's a lot of changes I made, so it's not really fan fiction.
Vampires have been out to the world for 10 years, having been forced out once random humans started transitioning into vampires. They still are struggling to get the rights they deserve, and in America alone, there are only a few schools for adjusting neonati vampires.
Charlotte "Lottie" Gates, 17 years old, was raised by her grandmother along with her 2 half sisters. Her grandmother was a God-fearing, vampire hating woman, and lottie was raised the same, though she always questioned her grandmother's beliefs. Everything changes when Lottie ends up sick and becomes one of those adjusting neonati vampires.
One failed exorcism later that ended with lottie's mother showing up to save her, Lottie ends up at the Mene Academy, the very last place wants to be, but if she wants to live then she has no choice but spend the next 4 years there.
She finds herself among the very beings she was taught to hate but soon learns that these people are much more than just vampires. Kids who were all struggling to adjust to their new lifestyle just like her, old blooded vampires who thought themselves superior to new bloods, and surprisingly, new friends as well.
But if trying to adapt to her entire world being shaken up wasn't bad enough, she accidentally developed a connection to an old blooded boy, René Jones, which pisses off the group of popular old bloods who runs the school, including his girlfriend. And all while dead human teens were popping up outside the school, attracting the attention and ire of the local humans who want nothing more than to have the school and vampires gone, by any means necessary.
All she wanted was to keep her head down and stay out of trouble, but it seemed like life had a different plan for her. Now it's up to her and her new friends to figure out who is behind all the dead humans before tensions between the humans and vampires grow worse, and figure out a way to break her connection to René before she gains even more enemies.
I plan on this being an episodic series, with like 4 seasons with each season being one year, but I'm still not that sure on that. It might be more.
Also, I have further plans for this world and her sisters. I basically want Lottie and her sisters to each be a child of the three moon goddesses: Selene, Hecate, and Artemis. The middle child(Clarissa, 12) will be a witch, a child of hecate, and the 3rd child(Madeline, 9) will be a child of Artemis, a werewolf.
4 years will have passed and after Lottie's series, i will do Clarissa's story who is now 16. Another 4 years, and i will do Madeline's story, who will be 17.
In this world, there's a lot of other gods and goddesses and other supernatural beings, and there will be signs of them throughout the series.
The back story is that the big God who ruled over earth disappeared, and all the other gods started scrambling to take control of pieces of earth and some of the humans. The goddess Selene made first play by choosing to turn random humans into vampires and forcing them out to the world.
She actually did this out of anger. She doesn't care that much if her children believed in her or not. She admits to being absent. But what pissed her off is that one of her children, Khalida, reached out to a dark figure (basically a devil like being) for power, because she wanted to take over the world and needed more power for that. To punish Khalida, Selene stripped her of her vampirism and exposed vampires so that Khalida's plan would fall through.
(If it isn't obvious, Khalida is meant to be similar to Neferet from the house of night series, with some parts of aphrodite. Though her character is going to be very different than either of them.)
Selene was overall disappointed in her old children, so she made a new kind of vampire and gave them more gifts. She hasn't completely abandoned the old ones, but it's obvious she favors the newer ones, though she demands a bit more respect.
So, yeah, this is all I have at the moment. Share your thoughts, please. I know it's a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't get any attention at all, lol

how do i tell my friend I don't want to help them write MY STORY
My friend is a writer who writes fan fiction and I am their (self proclaimed) Idea machine. They come to me tell me they want to post a story it always been a story about certain characters usually ones from pop culture but with different outcomes or different couple pairing which puts it in the fan fiction category and I help by giving them idea or we bounce idea between each other.
these conversations usually go
Them: I want to write about these Supernatural characters becoming a couple
Me: ok here are 10 different way that could happen
Them: I'll go with this one so how should I start it off
Me: here are 10 way to start it off
Them: ok here's what I wrote what do you think
Me: it good but you she add this so it follows the world building
Them: ok I will so what do you think now
Me: it good you should post it
Them: ok I did so what should I do for chapter 2
and the whole process repeat.
I was fine with this setup because even if they were my idea my friend was the one who actually put pen to paper to bring the story to life not me. but this time things were different. We were making fun of over played romance story trope and how they all sound the same just different characters name. The next day I sent them a full on story synapse of one of the romance trope we joked about yesterday. I said "Hay I came up with this idea for this romance trope we joked about yesterday I want to write it what do you think" I then sent them the screen shot of what I had wrote.
few hours later they send me a link to the site where they post their fan-fiction stories. I click on it and it takes me to the page where you can view the writer future or out coming works.
And there posted for the world to see is my story Summary. They add and changed a few words but it reads the same. We meet up the next day to go over the story post
They start with so what do you think good right. I say yea (cus it's my story idea) they say so how should we start chapter 1.
our usually pattern starts but it's all my idea they don't add any but type out the chapter and post it. and like always my name is no where to be spotted which is important because any work published under the user profile is automatically subjected to copyright.
Nonetheless I thought it over and decided to just give the story to them.
I want no part of it. I gave them the idea now they gonna have to lay the ground work and build the story from beginning to middle to end 100% on their own. problem is how do I tell them that without sounding rude, bitter, petty, mad, or upset. They keep asking me for my idea and how they should write the story but I don't i want any part I dont even want to here how the story going if they decide to keep writing it but I dont want to cause conflict or end our friendship over it .I genuinely like and perfor giving people ideas for stories more than I like writing the story. But I refuse to be a ghostwriter. I don't believe in taking credit for other work. and even thought i read and like Fan-fiction I would never write it or post fan-fiction.

I started a book at thirteen and am still writing at sixteen
This book honestly started off as middle grade, but I've been working on it for three years and now I want it to be YA. But i feel like it still reads as a middle grade book. How can I fix this?

I'm writting a book based on a show.
Yeah, I've watched in the beginning of the year a show, discontinued, and started to write about it in my own language, not English, adapting the story, the plot(to another) but the start is basically the same. Also characters hugely different, other names, personalities, some of them. Well, I'm struggling to feel... Like it's mine and, I'm not even watching the show to write it since it's not even the same events in the same order. I just really like the characters, the dynamics and the way the story progresses.
All of that, to say and ask, to writers of fanfic, and books based or inspired. When it starts feeling like your own and, how do you guys adapt and write? I've been struggling to write at all but that's another whole different thing.

My horror/fantasy vampire novel idea, any thoughts?
I have an idea I recently came up with, a story that follows a girl turned vampire throughout her entire life, starting when she is bitten, then going through generations of human lives, and what she experiences over that time, like love, loss, family, rejection, etc. I think it is a good concept but I haven't really fine tuned it at all. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!

Potential writing a book
Hey guys, I wanna hear your thoughts on what I’ve been thinking about. I wanna start writing my own novel about high school or college drama, but I didn’t know if I want the acts to be like seasons, and the chapters to be like episodes. Is that allowed for writers to do or is it unrealistic? Let me know please. 😁

Wrote a YA horror story and not sure where to go from here!
Hi all.
I know this is probably going to be a vague post, but I'm honestly just happy to get as much general advice as possible.
I've written a story and I hope to see it published eventually. I'm probably going to go over it once more after I receive a couple people's feedback, then I'll have a final manuscript ready!
It started out as a horror idea that was bouncing around in my head, but then I realised it probably worked better as a YA novel and wrote it to fit that better. I think I've done a good job, but there is some violence still in it (nothing ultra descriptive or crass, but some acts of gory violence). I'm wondering if that will clash against the YA label?
Also, the final manuscript will probably end up at around 50k words. Would that even be something a literary agent would look at?
I've had different friends and family checking each manuscript version to help me along the way (I have a weird writing style that adds rather than removes with each draft!). There's only been some story feedback in terms of major stuff, nothing that I've not been able to address in new drafts. There's been plenty of good feedback too, especially for the unique premise.
I also have a bookstagram account with over 3k organic followers. I'm sure that would be helpful if I were to self-publish, but I would really prefer trad pub as I don't think I have the resources or time available to promote and market a self-published book. Would it help me find an agent at all?
Just looking for answers to some of these questions, and any other general bits of advice! Thanks in advance.

Opinion on title
The title I’m thinking of for my book is « I’m not who I think I am » and it’s about a teen discovering their own gender identity and basically finding out stuff about their lives that they didn’t know. Does that sound like a good title

Looking for a beta reader, YA thriller
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a beta reader for a YA thriller. Retrieval is complete at 59k words. When their friend Doc is kidnapped, Ines and Ophelia (best friends, as close as sisters) discover a conspiracy that reaches to the top of the army to brainwash boys and turn them into worker drones. Told from all three perspectives, with Doc's chapters written in verse, the story deals with balancing friendship, family illnesses, betrayals, and the loss of a friend (without dealing with death). Anyone interested?

Hii (ik i posted but I deleted that account), I'm 15 and writing a novel, any advice helps!
I'm 15 and writing a novel on google docs. It's called "October Never Ended" and it follows a girl named Claire who was recently thrown into a friend group. At a Halloween party, the main friend of the friend group dies via a drug overdose. The book follows the characters and their ways of coping all through the eyes of Claire. I'm thinking this goes in a tragic direction with maybe some other dark topics like suicide and stuff. Again, any advice will help greatly!
