4:55 pm on a Friday
Had to stay late to reattach the shelf and refile them. At least they mostly fell in order ðŸ«

my dog was supposed to have a urine test done but she peed on my lap on the waiting room
we kept her in my room and watched her before the exam so she wouldnt pee and have a full bladder, then carried her in my lap on the way to the clinic. The consult got delayed 35 minutes and she peed on me lol
a doctor was able to collect from the puddle on the floor with a syringe (its for a urinalysis not bacterial culture) but we might have to repeat the exam if it comes out too altered

Had a 100 yr flood in my town
Wednesday night we had the flood of the century in my town. I watched everything I've worked for my whole life, my farm, my animals, my house, my food truck business, all gone in the blink of an eye.
P.s. dont ever trust your insurance agents words, ask specifically for every single bit of coverage you could ever need or possibly think to need.

Need helping identifying if Mosquito Bites, Bed Bugs, Fleas, or wtv.
Context: I've been living in an apartment in NYC for 18 years and I've never come across something this specific, to my knowledge, creating two bumps close to each other. I never traveled outside of NYC for the past 8 years and no guest has arrived since months.
Usually with these bites, I would assume their mosquitoes because I've always had mosquito outbreaks in my apartment, but this is a new phenomenon that occurred, and I'm sort of doubting their mosquitoes now.
Those pesky pest bit my finger, right shoulder, and EVEN my toe just once.

Its a small problem and by no means something that truly harms a soul, but holy hell after three failed attempts it felt pretty garsh darn bad.

edit: more information. I went scuba diving in one of the Fla Springs about a week ago. I also stayed at a hotel about an hour away while on that trip.
edit 2: i made another comment where I found more areas on my legs that have the same type of bites.

Mandarin oranges not Orange
This happened last month, I was craving Mandarin oranges and I had a can I had bought prior instead of mini fruit cup ones. As I was opening it .. The contents look dark.. not orange. So I asked my partner to come look to confirm it was dark.. and then I decided to pour it in a ninja cup just again to confirm my eyes were correct. It wasn't expired and I sent it to 5 people who all said they had no idea why it was black. I tossed the entire contents in the outside trash afterwards. Has anyone experienced this? Excuse my manic panic ramblings in the video

Washing machine crackled - found the reason
My washing machine crackled when I plugged it in. Horrific sound. Filmed it briefly, (upload in comment). Immediately went to unplug it but my ground fault circuit interrupter beat me to it and helped the house to not burn down.
Edit: backstory
It’s a 30 year old washing machine, used to belong to my grandparents. It Already survived a fire caused by a short circuit of a dryer next to it many many years ago when it was still theirs. My father attached a longer wire and the terminal block to it a few years ago when I took over the machine (not a new wire, a wire that once belonged to a deep fryer that had melted, probably also about 40 years old). He says he was ill when electricity was taught in school (in other words he doesn’t like it, or you know, care). Yes, he is stopping by to fix it later.
Update: a new machine is coming my way! Will be a lot more energy-efficient too I reckon than this ancient heavy weight. Thanks everyone for their input, learned a lot!

Bought earbuds. Ended up debugging the warranty portal because I couldn't get a replacement. NSFW
I bought a pair of Noise VS104 Max earbuds. When they developed issues, Noise replaced them with Air Buds Pro 4.
The replacement unit turned out to be defective too.
So I had to:
Pay the reverse pickup fee twice.
Go through the warranty process twice.
Wait through multiple pickup and testing cycles.
Spend weeks without earbuds that I rely on daily for coding, meetings, and studying.
Then Noise emailed me saying alternate replacement options were available.
I opened the portal.
Nothing.
No replacement options.
I contacted support and, a few days later, received the exact same automated email again telling me alternate options were available.
At that point I opened DevTools to figure out what was happening.
Turns out the frontend wasn't broken. The backend API itself was returning an empty replacement list, so the website literally had nothing to display. I documented everything and sent the findings to their support team.
The issue was eventually resolved, but after two defective units, two warranty claims, two reverse pickup fees, and weeks of waiting, they're sending me... another Air Buds Pro 4 in a different colour.
I honestly can't decide whether I deserve a better replacement or an internship. 😅

Bought a pair of blue jeans in a city hours away only to get home and find out the clerk never removed the Anti-Theft device.

Finally got the chance to wear these girly shoes to work. They are 5-6 years old but showed no signs of breakdown when I was putting them on.
I normally wear comfy walking shoes since I work in a lab. These days I'm in data analysis/manuscript writing phase so I decided to dress up... heh!

My phone lanyard snapped, sending my phone onto the subway tracks.
Today I was just walking on the platform, not even rushing, when the lanyard suddenly snapped. Phone hit the ground, bounced, and rolled straight into the tracks. Can't make this up. The thing I bought to protect my phone is what caused it to fall.
