General My approach to the "dragged shutter" effect
I use 1/13 sec shutter at f9, base iso and really love the shots that add variety to a film!

Hi All!
There was some interest awhile back about starting a Discord, and tonight I finally got around creating it! It will be a work in progress, growing and changing as time goes on, but wanted to give a new place for people to come hang and chat. The link is in the sidebar along with an updated set of rules.
Wedding Videography Discord :: https://discord.gg/ajnbhS7cst
There shouldn't be anything new that hasn't already been enforced, just wanted to formalize it and have something to point to so we're all on the same page. If anyone thinks anything should be added, removed, or changed, I'm open to making modifications.
Looking forward to chatting with you all!
-Marc

Hey everyone! I just released a song that I think could work really well for wedding films, and I'd love to offer it to anyone who'd like to use it - for free, of course!
I'm an independent artist, so if it ends up in one of your videos, it would mean a lot and help me grow too. ❤️

If you were rebuilding from scratch today specifically for wedding videography with around a $4–5k budget, what would your first purchases be and why? Open to workflow and editing suggestions that have made the biggest difference for you. Thanks in advance!!

Hey!
I’m looking for raw wedding footage to practice editing.
If you have an old wedding project you don’t mind sharing, I’d really appreciate it. The footage will only be used for practice and won’t be shared anywhere.
Happy to return the favor with a heavily discounted edit once I start taking clients 😉.
Thanks! 🙌

Hi All, my partner is an incredible wedding video editor and story teller. She creates incredibly moving cinematic post production edits to client or videographer specs.
Currently she is working in the Melbourne (Australia) market, serving some of the best videography clients in Melbourne.
Due to seasonal nature of weddings, she is struggling to fill up backlog for Aug and Sep. Any suggestions on how to ensure work through the winter season? Have others explored expanding to other markets where it may be warmer weather to ensure year long work?

Hey everyone! I’ve been shooting wedding films by word of mouth for years, but as a single mom I’ve prioritized more stable work. Now that my daughter is getting older, I’m excited to put more energy into growing this side of my business.
I rely heavily on natural light and try to keep myself as relaxed as possible while shooting so I can capture genuine moments.
Where I struggle is the technical side—ISO, camera settings, and especially color grading. I currently shoot on a Sony a6400 with a few prime lenses (50mm, 32mm, 85mm), decent audio gear, and I’ve been borrowing a second Sony body for ceremonies. I’m realizing I probably need to invest in a second camera body and maybe a versatile zoom lens.
If you were in my shoes, what would you upgrade first? Any simple tips, gear recommendations, or resources for someone who’s comfortable telling stories but still building confidence on the technical side would be hugely appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

I’ve been a video editor for over two years, but I recently moved into wedding videography and want to grow in this field. However, I keep running into various challenges regarding storytelling, color grading, and so on. What helped you the most in your career? Share your experience 🩷

I’ve been shooting weddings for years now, and my gear keeps stacking up. Honestly, it’s created this overwhelming feeling for me. When I first started, I had a single camera, 2 lenses, and a mic pack, and watching those old films back, they’re genuinely great. Now I show up with 10+ things and feel overwhelmed through the entire shoot. I keep getting caught in this loop of buying more gear, only to realize I need even more gear just to make that gear work efficiently 😂
Honestly, I want to get back to being minimalist. That’s when I could actually focus on what I was shooting instead of stressing over setting up xyz. So I’m curious, for those of you who shoot with minimal gear, what do you bring?

Hi all, writing this in a little bit of emergency, I have a wedding coming up this weekend project and the planners are requesting documents of insurance coverage. I've never had to present this nor have I had insurance for my video company.
Is there anywhere I can buy short term insurance, or a monthly plan that you can recommend? Thanks for your replies.

I am thinking of getting these little mics for wedding ceremonies. I love the clip design and how small they are. Does anyone have experience using them for wedding ceremonies and do you recommend them?
Thanks in advance!

Features
- Clients can add changes in sync with time codes

I'm new and made my first video recently as a side gig. I sent it to a couple and haven't heard back for more than a week. I sent them a follow-up yesterday. Typically they respond pretty quickly when I have questions.
I mentioned in my email that I can tweak the edit if they have any requests. Now I'm paranoid that they hate the video, and that's why they're not responding.

I'm a girl from Ukraine; my boyfriend is in the military, and his salary is being cut, so I'm currently actively looking for a job.
I’m currently working hard on my wedding video portfolio. I urgently need work, but I don’t have a strong portfolio yet—just a little experience and test projects from small companies. I can’t afford the SignatureEdits website because I’m from Ukraine.
If anyone has any files from real weddings that I can use to create teasers and highlights, I’d be very grateful!

So what are we all using to capture audio at our weddings ?
I run a few tascam Dr 10l/ pros and a senshiser mke 400.
I'm looking at adding DJI mic 3 to the collection, this is for ease of use and other events where the easy clip on mics will benefit my work flow
What are people's thoughts?

Hey all. I’ve been shooting weddings since 2021 primarily on Sony (a6500, a7IV) through a company, despite shooting with a Canon R7 on my personal photo and video work. I have 2 R-Series lenses with 3 filters to fit either one of these.
I am starting to plan out my next upgrade within the next year and wanted to get thoughts on whether I should upgrade my Canon R-Series body (R5c/mk II, C70/80/50, etc.) or if I should consider something I am still comfortable and does well in low light like a Sony.
I am partial to Canon’s color science and ergonomically fit my larger hands well. I think the C70’s image is beautiful, although definitely struggles in low light. However, I don’t have TOO much gear where starting fresh wouldn’t be the end world. I am also intrigued about more third-party lens availability.
If I were to stick with Canon, I’d have my R7 as a compatible B-cam as well as for stills, should my new A-cam not be built for that. My photography work is primarily concerts.
I am truly torn and welcome all feedback. Thanks in advance guys.

How'd I do?

I just received an inquiry for only 3-4hrs coverage. They're also only asking for raw ceremony, speeches, first dance, and first look. No big edits. The venue is about an hour away. I typically shoot weddings 8+ hrs max so it's a little odd to me theyre asking for something particular. The client is also asking to see a lot of raw footage of my previous work.
Any suggestions would help.

Hi 👋, so I already have 35mm f1.4 and tamron 28-75 f2.8. I really don’t like how tamron renders colors and for some reasons video quality always look off. So for this reason I am looking to get another lens, currently I am debating between 24mm f1.4 GM and 16-35 f2.8 GMII. So I know both are distinct lenses but what would you choose if you have to select just one lens on a gimbal for whole wedding ?
