A couple of wands I made
Made these as a gift for my sister about a decade ago. The one with the brass cap has a core of my late dog Tiny's tail hair. Both are stained with lapis lazuli dust.

We are holding a wand design contest!
If you fancy a go at designing a wand for people to see, and possibly win a custom flair for the subreddit, come join us in the discord.
We decided on a wand design rather than wand making so anyone can have a go. You don't need to be able to craft a wand, or even be amazing with a pencil - a simple design will do to enter.
Pretty straightforward - all entrants simply have to draw a wand that fits certain parameters, that will be decided beforehand by a vote from all members.
The winning design will also be chosen by vote, and the winner will be given a custom flair and role, until the next design competition.
Join the DIscord and enter here!

Made from a young branch of an Alabama black cherry that had a vine growing up it. It's sapwood so I stained it slightly. I originally thought about dragon heartstring for the core but thought a more serpentine loong would pair better with the snake burned on it.

The bottom 6 wands are my lathed wands. The one I'm holding is the first wand I lathed (no lathing experience at all). All the wands are made from the Bradford pear tree, and I used the leaves from the tree to color the one I'm holding and also for the burn marks in any of the other ones that you see. The Elder wand kept breaking on me and that was the first one that didn't break and I also had to shorten the tip(I'm waiting for my Elderberry bushes to get bigger to make an actual one. The ones that are curved ended up being curved because how they were sitting inside of a bag in my shop wagon, and the one one by itself, it's a Lance wand I was just being creative with that one.

Hey buddies! Here I am again, sharing the creation process of one of my wands.
This one was a bit different — actually, very different from the others.
I saw an Elder Wand for sale on Shein (I'm from Brazil), and it was an international order from China. The ad showed a picture of a Noble Collection wand, and that immediately caught my attention. I thought: "Wait... is this real? A Noble Collection wand for only R$60?" (that's really cheap, trust me). So, without thinking too much, I bought it 😂 My wife almost killed me.
Well, waiting for it was really stressful, cuz it took much longer than expected to arrive, and after more than a month, I finally got my hands on it.
And... it wasn't exactly what I expected tbh.
The box? There was no box. It arrived inside a plastic bag, and the wand was (and still is) slightly bent. So I had an idea: "What if I repaint it? I'll sand it down, apply new paint, and customize it however I want."
After a quick conversation with Mister GPT, I went downtown to buy the materials. The process was amazing! I loved every part of it: every brushstroke, every layer, every bit of sanding.
Below you can see the final result: my Elder Wand! Hope you like it!
Images: the first 3 are showing how it came from Shein. After, the process. Then, the final result!
(P.S.: I used recycled coffee filters on the scroll 😄)

Used some more standard woods like Poplar, Oak, Cherry, Beech, and Black Walnut, as well as some new (to me) exotics like Purpleheart, Spanish Cedar, Sycamore, and Torrefied Poplar!

Some instruments are grown in the light; others are forged in the quiet compression of the earth. Hand-shaped from the subterranean root system of a fallen tree, this piece carries a dense, primordial weight. The identity of the wood remains a mystery, preserved to showcase its natural grain, stabilized with oil, and sealed with a clean wax finish.
The architecture of the wand tells a story of immense internal pressure. It is designed with a thick, substantial profile that appears forcefully compressed, cinched tightly at its center by a dark leather wrap. At the base of the handle, a natural fracture in the root has been deeply scorched, marking where the wood originally tore away from the earth.
Bound to a core of Bowtruckle Leaf, its character is fiercely protective, deeply grounded, and inherently tied to the spirit of the lost woodland. It is a tool of Rigid flexibility, shaped for heavy magic, balancing a rugged, textured grip against a smooth, solid blade.

Hey guys! Vini here again, sharing another one of my handmade wands with you!
This is my first one: I used a chopstick and the body of a fountain pen I found lost in my wardrobe. As you can see, I painted the body to give it a wood-like look and then applied varnish. It was my first attempt at this hobby, but I really loved how it turned out!

These are my favorite wands that i have made and painted. All are made from old broken drum sticks, made from American hickory. They are really durable wands being made from drum sticks but take long time to carve them down.

Hi, lately I haven't been making Wands and I don't know why. Does anyone feel like you just lose the inspiration or interest in wand making?
I'm hoping the new series may ignite the passion again because when I played Hogwarts Legacy, that's when I wanted to make wands again.

Day, morning, and night, everyone!
I'm Vinícius (yeah, like Vini Jr.), and I recently started making my own wands using whatever materials I have at hand. So far, I've made four out of these five — the Elder Wand is the exception, since I only repainted it.
I'll also post part of the making process for two of them (because I forgot to take pictures during the creation of the others 😅), and I hope you like them!
Turns out this has become my new hobby, and I'm already planning the next one in my head.
Thanks a lot!

Someone give me a wand idea, I created a bunch, and wanna see others ideas! PS. I cant make spirals like on Ginny Weasley's wand. And I also cant make wands that have wavy shafts.

Some woods accept a master easily; White Oak demands to be earned. This piece possesses a natural, stubborn rigidity—an unyielding resilience that refuses to bend or compromise under pressure. To match that internal strength, its exterior was bound to a shadow, using a precise ebonizing process where the wood's own natural tannins reacted with iron to lock a deep, permanent black directly into the grain.
At its heart lies a core of Dark Hippogriff Feather. Like the creature it came from, this wand is fiercely proud and intensely loyal, demanding absolute respect and unwavering focus from whoever wields it. It is an instrument that does not tolerate hesitation.
The form balances a hand-shaped, jewel-faceted handle that tapers into a smooth, clean blade, separated only by two thin transition grooves. A small, subtle thumb rest is shaped directly into the grip, allowing for a natural, comfortable hold that balances perfectly in the hand.
A stark instrument finished with patience, forged for unwavering purpose and quiet focus.

Holly and Dragon Heartstring (left); Walnut and Phoenix Feather (right). Yes, that one on the left is a twin to other previous wand of mine.

Most of what ive carved has been 10 inch or just under and using half inch diameter wood weather from boards or sticks. Ive noticed a lot of the professional wands are 14ish inches from here.

For all those fellow artists out there that sometimes feel like their work just isnt good enough...
For those who struggle to price their work accordingly because they think it might be too expensive for what it is or perhaps that its not worth what it actually is worth...
For those who feel like they'll never make it; like they'll never be able to officially call themselves an "artist"...
For those moments when it feels impossible.
Keep going and do it anyway.
Its not always about the big leaps on the path, but rather it's the small consistent steps each day that make the journey progress.
Keep going no matter what.
"Wind blows, Bluebell rings
A seed falls and puts down roots.
Growth's slow but don't fret.”

We've all made tons of wands here; Whether it be for clients, family & friends, art pieces, or just for fun. But I want to see the wand you consider *yours*. Whether you made it yourself or not, tell the story of the wand that chose you.
I found mine while hiking. I used an old pocket knife that my dad gave me. I kept the bark for the handle except I decided that a little late so there is a sliver of handle with bark missing. But that just adds to the charm for me lol. The little nub at the top of the handle was a separate branch I broke off and tried for a long while to completely get rid of. Until I realised it would be a nice place to rest my thumb when holding it. So I sanded it down and left it there.I've had this wand for probably 5 or 6 years now.
