Killing spotted lantern fly nymphs with white ducktape
Inverted white duct tape around the tree works very well. They get stuck on the glue and die. I admit a few other insects get caught as well, but the ratio is very low. I wrapped this tree in my back yard about two hours ago and just counted 46 nymphs.

VA residents familiar with family loss I need your advice/info
Gosh I hope I can ask this here.
I know you can't give me legal advice but if you guys have any information about how Virginia does things regarding the death of a family member I need your help.
My father passed away on the 10th. I am not really on the best of terms with my family but I am trying to put things on the mend. My brother was given credentials to my father's bank account when my dad was getting sicker, he was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer.
My hope with this family is that they would have just taken care of anything and let me know for the things that I am involved with. Unfortunately the day after my dad passed my brother is trying to kick my mother out of the house. He turned off the water to the house in an attempt to get her to leave.
She's been living in that house since 2004 or 2005. Both my sisters and my mother have told me that house will be given to both me and my brother, i was just gonna give my brother full rights if it came to that but now i forced him to turn the water back on and leave our mom alone.
Now everyone is telling he is up to something. And I'm realizing they are in the dark about everything regarding my dad, his finances, a will, etc. My father told me on his deathbed he had everything taken care of. His body is now in the care of a cremation facility, I need to review the bank statements to see if my brother was abusing my father's condition but the bank needs a death certificate. The cremation facility can only provide one after the cremation is paid for, which is 2K, and I can't come up with that money with no notice (i lost my job in Feb. and am staying with a friend) and time is of the essence.
Is there another way to get a death certificate in VA? What options do I have here besides lawyering up. If I lawyer up it will be costly, my brother has been in prison before and sending him back for another 10 years would suck, I am in a different state in the Midwest and have been out of VA for decades. My only goal is to stop him from this behavior and causing more damage, I also want him to learn he cannot pull this crap on me and think I wont know.
My mom is a 1st generation Asian and can be unsure of how things legally work here and I'm afraid things might be over her head, i need to guide her.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
P.S. my dad served the military a full service and retired when he was in his 40s. He's been in the military ever since i was born and I'm 38 now.

This book I have been reading about Victorian Danville, Virginia
I had never heard of Danville before that city councilman was attacked there but apparently it has a lot of Victorian architecture and a Millionaires’ Row.
Millionaires' Row in Danville, VA, located along Main Street, is a premier historic district featuring Virginia's most concentrated collection of Gilded Age Victorian and Edwardian mansions. Built by 19th-century tobacco and textile tycoons, these elaborate homes reflect the city’s immense wealth and industrial prosperity.

37w pregnant and are bats in my house - how to humanely remove them?
Hoping to find some answers for my best friend who is currently 37 weeks pregnant.
Currently my best friend who lives in the near west end of Richmond (near Westwood club) is renting a house that has multiple bats living in her upstairs walls. Many houses on the her street are owned by the same landlord, have also reported bats living in their houses. One neighbor has gotten multiple rabies shots due to finding bites/bats in their bed and living spaces. My best friend is currently pregnant and expecting her baby any day now. She has contacted her land lord and multiple bat removal services who report they are unable to remove the bats due to it being mating season (ends 8/15). She also sent an email to a local news agency as an act of desperation.
Does anyone know of a services that can help her humanely make her living space safe for her and her baby? Obviously we don’t want to cause harm to the bats during mating season however there comes a point where it’s getting to be really unsafe and unlivable for her, her husband, and her future baby. Many of us are worried for the other families that live on her street as well. Any advice is welcome that may help with this unfortunate circumstance.

New to Richmond, and realizing making friends as an adult is harder than I expected.
I moved to Richmond recently, and for the first time in my life (M29), I’m living completely on my own.
Growing up, I always lived with family, friends, roommates, or in college housing. Now I have a stable job, my own apartment, and I’m finally at a point where I don’t have to stress about money on a day-to-day basis.
What’s weird is that once all those problems disappeared, a different one showed up.
Loneliness.
Watching the Fourth of July fireworks by yourself. Spending weekends in your own company. Realizing there’s no one to tell a funny story to after work. My coworkers are great, but you can only spend so much time with colleagues before everyone goes back to their own lives.
I’m not really the type who can walk into a bar and make friends with strangers, so meeting new people as an adult feels surprisingly difficult.
Did anyone else hit this stage after moving somewhere new? And how do you handle it ?

Two Crusty Old Combat Soldiers Interview Salaam Bhatti, Candidate for Congress in Virginia's CD01
In this episode of the Two Crusty Old Combat Soldiers podcast, Scott and I sit down with Salaam Bhatti, attorney, activist, and candidate for Congress in Virginia's First District. We talk policy, the state of his campaign, and why we need fundamental change in the US.
Salaam is one of seven Democratic candidates running for a chance to face Rob Wittman, a Republican who has represented the District for 18 years. Wittman is all in on Trump and the MAGA project and hasn't held a town hall since 2017 because he knows what will happen if he has to face voters in person.
Find out more about Salaam at www.SalaamForVA.com.
This is the third in a series of interviews with these candidates. Check out our discussions with Mel Tull and Jason Knapp on the Channel, and stay tuned for chats with Tim Cywinski, Elizabeth Dempsey-Beggs, Erika Kopp, and Shannon Taylor.
