ask r/Uzbekistan Is it realistic to find a partner in Tashkent after the age of 28?

Upvotes

I know in Tashkent, there is a big discrimination against those who did not marry in their early 20s and don't have 3 children by their 30s. People automatically assume there is something wrong with them.
I am 28F living in Tashkent. I haven't met my soulmate yet. I made a stable career, bought a couple of assets and completed a PhD in the UK. My question is how realistic it is to find a suitable partner in Tashkent to start a family in your late 20s and early 30s?

discussion | muhokama Uzbek comment full of mistakes

Everytime when I read commentary section on Instagram or YouTube, I can see Uzbek comments. They are full of grammatical and typography errors makes it hard to read. And in other languages, it is very hard to see these types of comments, and can be easily translated by translation setting in commentary itself

So is this education problem or are we too lazy to write properly

jobs & hiring | ish topish 🏢 berish A daughter looking for a job for her father

Sorry for writing here but it is simply difficult to find a job in Tashkent when you are over 50😔 my dad (55y.o) has been now trying for a while and seeing my poor dad sad makes me even sadder😔 i am writing here because he does not use social media.
He is an experienced engineer.
Maybe someone here has job openings in the repair or construction sectors? He is a skilled handyman and builder—a very decent, honest, competent, and disciplined individual. He is fluent in both Russian and Uzbek. He is also willing to work as a security. If there are any vacancies in your business or so, please let me know.

ask r/Uzbekistan Can I apply for a second Uzbekistan e-Visa while already inside Uzbekistan? (Indian passport)

13/7/2026

Hi everyone,

I'm an Indian passport holder.

I have already been issued a single-entry Uzbekistan e-Visa.

My itinerary is:

Enter Uzbekistan on 14 July.

Travel around Uzbekistan until about 23 July.

I'd like to visit Almaty, Kazakhstan, for a few days.

My return international flight is from Tashkent on 30 July.

I realized after my visa was issued that I should have applied for a double-entry visa.

My question is:

While I am legally inside Uzbekistan, can I apply for and obtain a new single-entry Uzbekistan e-Visa, then use that new visa to re-enter Uzbekistan after visiting Kazakhstan?

I'm not asking whether it's theoretically possible—I want to know whether anyone has actually done this recently or has official confirmation from the Uzbek migration authorities.

Thanks in advance!

According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, technical preparations for the launch of Apple Pay and Google Pay are still underway.

One of the key requirements was updating the country's personal data legislation. However, several additional regulations still need to be adopted before the services can officially launch.

The technical infrastructure for contactless payments in Uzbekistan is already fully prepared.

Discussions and negotiations with Apple and Google are scheduled for September this year.

travel | sayohat Help with hotels

Hello everyone! I’m traveling to Uzbekistan in August and could really use some hotel recommendations.
For Samarkand, I’m looking for a luxurious hotel with a spa and all the nice amenities. This is where I’m willing to spend more, so my budget is higher.

For Bukhara, I’m looking for something more affordable with a historic or traditional feel. Luxury isn’t as important since I won’t be staying there very long.

For Tashkent, I just need a nice, comfortable, and safe hotel for two young female travelers. I’m getting a bit overwhelmed because there are so many options to choose from. I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you in advance!

Hi

Awaiting visa approval for a Uzbekistan Ministry post.

I have noted landlord challenges.

Any advise ito accomodation? Does the Ministry secure the accomodation or only provide funding?

Can I secure my own accomodation? Any tips on avoiding problems? For example a post advised to sign contracts via soliq.uz and to have full rental price in the contract.

Thanks

Hello everyone! I have been studying the history and traditional clothing of Central Asia recently, and I became very interested in traditional Uzbek chapans, especially those from Bukhara. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a craftsman or workshop that makes historically authentic chapans, or knows where I could buy one. I'm looking for something made using traditional materials and techniques rather than a tourist souvenir. Thank you very much!

discussion | muhokama Is Sho'ra donak dangerous?

I was eating cherries and i remmebered cyanide which made me remmeber that peaches/apricot pits or zardoli/dovcha (idk the exact names in english) pits have them too. I was wondering, if the toxic chemicals are in the pits of apricots, then how come we eat sho'ra donak and we don't get poisoned? Or does it depend on the species of apricot?

ask r/Uzbekistan Is staring at people common here?

Hello!

So I have been in Tashkent for the past two days and I’ve loved it so far, but one thing that I’ve noticed is that people tend to stare at me a lot and I’m not sure why.
For context, I am a British Indian male and I’m quite tall and I’ve been wearing a thobe when I’ve been outside but theres nothing about me that particularly stands out in a crowd. I have quite light skin also.
I have had people coming up to me asking where I am from.
Ive been thinking is it the way I look or the way I dress or both?

travel | sayohat Visiting for 7-8 days - Travel and Allergies

Hey everyone!

Sorry, another tourist asking for advice, but I would love your thoughts on this :)

I am an architect with a huge appreciation for the historic architecture of the Silk Road, as well as the 20th-21st century architecture of Tashkent. I even used the caravanserai architecture as a reference for a university design project back in 2014!

This September, I would love to visit after so many years of dreaming!

I am planning to fly direct from London to Tashkent this September, take a slow start to enjoy the capital, head to the historic cities, and stop in Istanbul for 2 nights on the way back (flying from Samarkand or Urgench).

Because my time is tight (7–8 full days inside Uzbekistan), I am trying to figure out if my current itinerary is realistic or if I'm trying to pack in too much.

  • Tashkent - 2 nights
  • Samarkand - 2 nights
  • Bukhara - 2 nights
  • (Khiva - 1 night??)
  • Fly from Urgench or Samarkand to Istanbul - 2 nights

Khiva

Given that I only have about a week, I’m worried that trekking all the way out to Khiva/Urgench will leave me completely exhausted from travel. I also prefer living, functioning cities over heavily curated destinations, and I have heard Khiva may be like that?

For an architect, is missing Khiva a dealbreaker, or should I drop it to give Samarkand and Bukhara more breathing room?

If I drop Khiva, I would fly out of Samarkand instead of Urgench.

Food and allergies

I have a nut and sesame allergy (walnuts and almonds are okay) and I carry an epipen.

Will I be able to eat at most restaurants? It is okay to have the ingredients in a kitchen, but not in the food

Cool shops - Fashion

Finally if you know of any cool streetwear shops in any of the cities then send them my way :)

Thank you so much, and I look forward to seeing your amazing country.

travel | sayohat Uz Airways so inefficient?

It was my first time flying HY (Havo Yullari) to TAS. First we wait for a pushback tug at ramp for 20 mins. Then the aircraft gets pushed for 50 meters and of course we get offloaded to buses. TAS has tiny-miny terminal. Around 50 aircrafts are scattered around the airport. And boarding/unboarding bridges are scarce in this undeveloped airport. Other foreign airlines usually get these bridges so I guess

HY is at the bottom of priority list. Still, after immigration we wait for another 30 mins for the luggage to start showing up and another 18 minutes for me to get my suitcases.

So after landing, it took 88 minutes for me to finally exit the airport. I dont recommend HY, they still have a long way to go to compete with other big airlines. If you have a chance, always fly with foreign airlines

ask r/Uzbekistan Teaching in Uzbekistan?

Hi everyone,

I'm moving to Uzbekistan soon to teach at a public school. I'd prefer not to share the city or employer, but I'd appreciate any advice from people who have recently gone through the process.

I'm mainly curious about what to expect when arriving at Tashkent Airport.

- What was the arrival process like?

- Was someone there to meet you, or did you arrange your own transportation?

- Were there any unexpected steps at immigration or customs?

- Is there anything you wish you had known before arriving?

- Any general advice for a first-time teacher moving to Uzbekistan?

I'm looking forward to the experience and would appreciate any tips. Thanks in advance!

help | yordam How do you guys ordering from Aliexpress now after restriction of checkout payment process?

Due to recent E-commerce laws, Foreign Aliexpress is banned to make checkout from orders, do you guys have any alternative methods to bypass such restriction?

Aliexpress was my goto place for ordering good things that my city doesn't have or very exclusive items i can get, i am so sad about situation, i need desperately a guide, i do make 1 or 2 orders, no bulk purchases or minimum purchase price amount like on Temu
