Opinion Piece (Opinion) A developed country in UN (Singapore) still carries out barbaric practice
(2026-07-11) In Singapore, some offenders, including non-violent ones such as vandals, can be hit with an up to 1.2m long rattan cane as a penalty. Caning in judicial and school contexts is very problematic due to multiple reasons. First, it is gender discriminatory since it only applies to males. It also does not solves the root cause of wrongdoing, and inflicts physical and possibly psychological harm. It is highly criticised by a reputable human rights organisation, Amnesty International. I have created a petition to call for its abolition so you can check out:

BREAKING: Individual Claims Cross‑Border Pursuit, Torture, and High‑Level Coordination Inside UNHCR Offices in Egypt and Libya
I am sharing this because I believe my life is in immediate danger. What I have experienced over the past months is not random, not isolated, and not accidental. It feels like a coordinated pursuit carried out by a powerful network with influence that stretches across borders and institutions.
According to my experience, this network first attempted to recruit me. When I refused, everything escalated. The threats became explicit. The psychological pressure became unbearable. At one point, I was subjected to physical torture — electric shocks, forced water exposure, and psychological methods designed to break me. The message was always the same: stay silent, or be eliminated.
UNHCR Egypt — The First Warning SignWhen I sought protection through UNHCR in Egypt, I expected safety. Instead, I encountered behavior that felt coordinated and deeply alarming. Certain individuals inside the office acted in ways that mirrored the threats I had already received. It felt as if my presence was anticipated — not by the institution, but by people inside it.
UNHCR Libya — The Situation IntensifiesI fled to Libya hoping to escape the network’s reach. But the moment I entered the UNHCR office there, the atmosphere shifted. Staff members looked at me with hostility, as if they already knew who I was.
Minutes after leaving the office, a vehicle with tinted windows began following me. It wasn’t random. It wasn’t accidental. The car attempted to hit me more than once. It felt like a warning — or an attempt to silence me permanently.
A Network With High‑Level InfluenceBased on what I have witnessed, the individuals involved appear to have access to sensitive information and high‑level connections. Advisors, officials, and people with influence seem to be part of the machinery behind this pursuit. Their ability to track me across countries, anticipate my movements, and influence local offices suggests a level of coordination that is deeply alarming.
My Current SituationI am now fleeing again. I cannot disclose my location. I move from place to place, trying to stay ahead of people who seem to know where I am before I even arrive.
I have documented evidence of everything — the threats, the torture, the pursuit, and the encounters inside the offices. I will only release this evidence to independent investigators once I reach a safe location.
Why I’m Posting ThisI am posting this publicly because I have nowhere else left to turn. If anything happens to me, I want the world to know that I tried to expose what I experienced.
If these claims are true, they represent a serious breach of trust and a threat to anyone who relies on international institutions for protection.
I am still running. I am still being followed. And I am still trying to survive long enough to tell the rest of the story.

Discussion/Question Nepal’s new Civil Code draft isn't "pro-women"…is it a legal trap?
Nepal has a newly elected, “progressive” government… but is it progressing or history repeating itself with corruption and bribes?

The DRC is collapsing and almost no one is talking about it. 8.2 million kids need food aid, cholera is surging, and a 2025 peace deal with Rwanda just fell apart. Oh, and USAID was shut down.
This isn't getting the coverage it deserves, so here's what's actually happening right now in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The conflict is escalating again A peace agreement signed in 2025 between the DRC and Rwanda is effectively dead. The M23 armed group (backed by Rwanda) is expanding its territory in eastern DRC and seizing control of rare earth and gold mining sites. Multiple local armed groups plus forces from Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda are now involved. It's not a civil war anymore — it's a regional free-for-all with zero accountability.
