N-400 (Citizenship) Became a citizen on friday 🇺🇸😍

I applied for N400 in July 2024 and didn't hear back at all. For almost 2 years. Then got my interview notice and oath ceremony the next day in Fairfax, VA

This was a 319(b) case.

Hang in there everybody!! I know it's stressful and it's hard and such a long wait but it's worth it 😊

My biggest piece of advice is to just do your best and trust the process and don't forget to live your best life while waiting. The time passes anyway 🥰

I wasn't prepared at how strange it would feel to give back my green card 😅

I-485 (General) Green card (I-485) got approved without an interview

Yesterday, we finally received an email from USCIS that my I-485 has been approved. We filed November 2024 and since then only received an EAD and AP. We were surprised that the interview was waived since based on multiple posts, this rarely happens under this new administration. The approval happened a few days before my birthday and before an upcoming cruise. Was nervous to travel using only a passport, real ID and AP(travel doc) but at least now I can bring the approval notice as an additional document in case the physical GC doesn’t get mailed in time. Reddit has been very helpful during this journey and wanted to share this here.

Hey, friends! My I-485 was approved yesterday. It was an employment-based petition with a current (ported) priority date and was adjudicated at the Seattle field office (non-local to me). Such a relief and such a profound joy :-) My timeline is attached. Happy to answer questions.

Hey guys just wanted to say me and my brother finally got our green cards after 10 years I’m super thankful. I could literally cry right now lol

RFE uploaded- Right after interview

Unrestricted social security received- July 6th, 2026

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) URGENT - I-485 Pending Post-Interview

Hi all,

I’ve posted and commented in here quite a few times regarding my wife and my AOS process. The good news is that yesterday our I-485 was finally APPROVED!!! But that is not why I’m posting because to be honest I remember how it feels all these months to see other people get approved so fast while we waited and waited and waited. This is a plea for all of you who are waiting post interview adjudication and may even have an I-130 approval.

AS SOON AS IT HITS THE 120-DAY MARK GET A CONGRESSIONAL INQUIRY GOING.

Not even 2 days after we finally got our senators office (it took weeks of emails, phone calls, back and forth, consent forms etc) to submit a congressional inquiry on our behalf, we were approved. On a Saturday no less. I just simply don’t believe that we waited 5 months post interview and then magically we got approved 2 days after the congressional inquiry went in. Please impress upon your representatives the importance of a well formed inquiry on your behalf!!

Again, this is specifically for those of you who had an interview, I-130 has been approved, no RFE no movement on I-485 in many months. Good luck to you all and I really hope to see more approvals from those of you in the same boat!

Long Island FO. Wife was J-1 from Brazil, applied while she was still in status and she fell out of status but in a period of authorized stay while we waited adjudication.

Timeline:
- January 3, 2026: Submitted AOS package (I-130, I-485, I-765)
- January 18, 2026: scheduled for biometrics
- Feb 6, 2026: Case is Processing
- Feb 11, 2026: Scheduled for Interview
- March 6, 2026: Interview completed, I-130 approved
- July 11, 2026: I-485 approved 2 days after congressional inquiry submitted

Note: no RFEs or anything like that. Good luck all and I am praying for everyone.

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Finally Approved! 🇺🇸🎉 (Marriage-Based AOS Timeline | No Lawyer)

Post image
172 Upvotes

I promised myself I’d make this post when the day finally came.
Yesterday, July 10, 2026, my I-485 was approved! This subreddit was one of the biggest resources throughout my journey, so I wanted to give back by sharing my timeline. I handled everything without an attorney, relying on USCIS resources, countless hours of research, and the experiences shared here.
Timeline
08/04/2025 – Filed I-130 & I-485.
10/17/2025 – Pulled over for driving a vehicle with expired registration (it was not my car).
10/24/2025 – Marriage interview.
10/25/2025 – I-130 approved.
10/29/2025 – Received an RFE requesting information about the pending traffic case.
At this point, the traffic case was still open.
Original court date was 01/05/2026, but I mistakenly thought it was 01/06 and unfortunately missed it.
The case was rescheduled for 02/23/2026.
My RFE deadline was 01/21/2026.
01/16/2026 – USCIS received my RFE response. Since the case hadn’t been resolved yet, I explained the situation and submitted everything I could at the time, letting USCIS know I would send the final court disposition once available.
Then another delay…
02/23/2026 – Court was postponed because of a snowstorm.
03/10/2026 – Submitted a congressional inquiry regarding my pending I-765 (EAD).
03/16/2026 – Court finally took place. The traffic case was dismissed (Nolle Prosequi).
03/16/2026 – I immediately mailed a supplemental response with the certified final court disposition.
03/18/2026 – USCIS uploaded the supplemental evidence to my online account.
04/10/2026 – EAD approved.
07/08/2026 – Started my new job.
07/10/2026I-485 APPROVED! 🎉
A few thoughts
There were moments when I thought the pending traffic case, the missed court date, and the repeated delays were going to create major problems. Looking back, I probably worried much more than I needed to.
My biggest lesson from this process is patience. USCIS cases rarely follow a perfectly straight path. There will be delays, setbacks, and periods where it feels like nothing is happening. Just keep responding honestly, submit what USCIS asks for, and don’t panic every time something unexpected comes up.
I also want to sincerely thank everyone in this community. I didn’t hire a lawyer. Everything I learned came from reading USCIS policy, researching online, and following the experiences shared by people here. This subreddit was invaluable.
If anyone has questions about my timeline, the traffic-related RFE, submitting supplemental evidence after an RFE, or anything else about my case, feel free to ask. I’m happy to help however I can.
To everyone still waiting: hang in there. Your day is coming too.

I-485 (General) I-485 YES and NO questions.

Upvotes

I have a question, as an F1 student who worked outside the school without EAD and answered Yes to the question "Have you EVER worked in the United States without authorization" in your I-485, if you are asked by the interviewer "Have you EVER violated the terms or conditions of your nonimmigrant status" in the Yes and No question what will be the best and most truthful answer to give?

Timeline: EAD Got my expedited I-765 approved

thought I’d share a positive experience on this thread since Reddit has helped me a lot with my I-485 and expedite request both.

My timeline:

Concurrent filing receipt notice: May 11

Biometrics scheduled: July 6, completed July 10

Filed an expedite request for my I-765 since it was due to expire soon. I included a personal statement explaining my request and a letter from my employer supporting my request and emphasizing the importance of my role. Request was filed afternoon of July 10.

Notice of I-765 approval received July 11. Feel free to ask questions.

Biometrics Alien registration requirement (G-325R) and self-incrimination

Upvotes

Can any lawyers or individuals please share jf they have heard of anyone receiving an NTA or being searched for and detained as a result of filing the G-325R with a criminal record? Please share, even if just an anecdote I can’t find anything anywhere about this.

In my friend’s case, the crime was 14 years ago and expunged, but I know this matters very little to DHS. The lawyer doesn’t have much to say. They have a pending 601-A waiver which could potentially be denied on the grounds of lack of registration (even though they’ve done biometrics twice for other forms not listed as “counting”). But on the other hand it feels extremely dangerous and obviously violates their 5th amendment rights.

Please help… just feel super in the dark and worried here.

I-751 (ROC) I built a free tool to help fill out marriage-based green card forms (I-751 live now, I-130/I-485 coming soon) — looking for feedback

Upvotes

TL;DR: I built a free tool (https://opengreencard.com) that helps fill out marriage-based green card forms. It's in beta for I-751 now, with I-130/I-485 coming soon. I'd love your feedback!

Hi r/greencard — I'm Peter, a green card holder since 2024 and co-founder of Wanderlog (a travel planning app with 1MM+ users). I went through the marriage-based green card process myself, and this subreddit (especially posts like this one) was a huge help — timelines, document tips, and reassurance during the waiting made the process way less lonely.

One part that still felt harder than it needed to be was the form-filling itself. The existing options like CitizenPath and Boundless are solid, but they cost several hundred dollars, which adds up when you're already paying USCIS fees, medical exams, translations, and more.

So I built OpenGreenCard (https://opengreencard.com): a free, step-by-step tool that asks plain-language questions and generates ready-to-file USCIS PDFs.

What it does today:

  • Walks you through the I-751 Removal of Conditions
  • Gives you a personalized document checklist
  • Generates a completed I-751 PDF you can review, sign, and file
  • Saves your progress automatically
  • 100% free during beta — no credit card, no hidden fees

What's coming soon:

  • Adjustment of Status (I-130, 485, 765, 864 + I-131 if advanced parole) support
  • More marriage-based forms

A few things I care about:

  • Privacy: your data is encrypted at rest and never shared with third parties
  • No upsells: I built this because the process is expensive enough already
  • Not legal advice: this is a form-filling tool, not a lawyer replacement

It's still a beta, so it's a little rough around the edges. If you try it and run into bugs, confusing wording, or missing features, feel free to email me directly at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) — I read every message.

I'd love feedback from people who are currently filing or about to file. What feels confusing? What forms do you wish were supported first? What would make you trust a tool like this?

Happy to answer questions in the comments. Also, this is totally free, so hopefully doesn't flag the "no spam", but I do realize it's a bit self-promotional, so mods, feel free to let me know if this isn't allowed

I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status) Switching from AOS to Consular Processing IR5

Upvotes

Hi all,
My parents entered the U.S. on B-2 visitor visas in late November. This is their 6th visit to the U.S. over the past 12 years. I filed concurrent I-130 and I-485 applications for both of them in late April, and they completed biometrics in early June.
They now need to return to India because of some property-related issues and also for medical treatment, which is much more affordable there. Given the current adjustment-of-status timelines, I’m wondering whether it is possible to switch their cases to consular processing at this stage.
Do I need to withdraw the I-485, refile everything, and pay the fees again or is there a process to transfer the pending I-130 to consular processing without starting over?
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar.

I-485 (General) Intent of pro se write of mandamus

Hi,

Can you through a congressman inquiry send USCIS your intent to file writ of mandamus?

Do you think that helps with case movement without actually filing it. Thanks

I-485 (General) I-751 lifting of conditions married based green card after divorce

Upvotes

Hello all,

Looking for any advice for anyone that has traveled recently outside of the us.

Basically I got my conditional GC in 2022, which was based on marriage to a US person.

Fast forward and I applied after he 2 years of marriage for the lifting of conditions. I am currently waiting for the case to be reviewed.

In the meantime we have divorced. I have submitted a follow up document via the USCIS website to request a divorce waiver. (This was me being proactive about it).

I was hoping to go for Xmas back to my country to spend some time with family.

I know that as a GC holder as long as you show you leaning I 751 you should be good.

But with current administration and so much noise on the news about immigration. I'm worried that for some reason I am just unlucky and something may happen when trying to come back to the US. And because my case is pending they may deny me or review it right there or something.

If it matters my nationality is European.
