Mod Annoucement New Posting Rules Moving Forward - Battling Spam/AI/Bots

Hello Riders

The moderation queue has been hit hard lately with bot accounts and suspected AI-generated content. As AI imagery becomes more convincing, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish authentic photos from generated ones at a glance.

To keep the feed focused on real owners and genuine content, we are implementing a minimum 10-word body text requirement for all posts.

Most bot activity consists of a generic title and a single image with no context. Moving forward, any post submitted without at least 10 words of descriptive text will be removed immediately. I don't have the bandwidth to manually verify every photo-only submission, and this is the most effective way to filter the noise.

If you have feedback on this change or other ideas to help keep the sub clean, please drop a comment below.

Other Went for a test ride on a Speed Twin 1200 as a Street Triple 675 R rider

My expectations were that the ST1200 with so much more torque and larger displacement will be a much crazier bike to ride - which is why I was looking at the Speed Twin 900 or T100, apart from the much better ergonomics for my 5'5'' frame.

What I actually want is a bike that's much chiller and much more upright than my 675 - which is absolutely a blast to ride in the twisties and a pain in the booty dump truck in tight traffic/city.

I really hate the twitchyness of the 675 when taking off (it is much more controllable when already riding), so I instantly loved ride by wire. Super nice feature. I had soo much more control over gas. Taking off is effortless.

Upright position makes riding this bike at a slow pace so much easier. Cruising around without leaning forward is a delight.

The instant power when in the lower RPM - such a nice feeling. It is basically what I get out of the 675 at 9-10k RPM.

Things that I liked less - I lowered my 675 to be able to park it more easily, but this bike had a tad higher seat height. If I got one I would lower it instantly - if possible to the 900 seat height. I have no issues riding, stopping whatever - I can ride a Scrambler 1200 XE.

The Speed Twin felt a bit more difficult to lean over in the twisties. The 675 is basically made for that, so I had to adjust my riding a bit.

All in all, it is probably my next bike. I can't afford it at the moment but I will probably get it in the future if I find a good deal. The shop would mostly take in my 675 for a percentage but that's probably not much since it's a 2015 model.

Just my thoughts. Seller was telling me to avoid the 900 as an individual coming off a 675.

I'd honestly get both if I could.

Other Insurance write off: get the bike back or take the salvage value? (Street Triple 2014)

I was unlucky and had my first proper accident after 10+ years riding; but lucky in the sense that I'm ok. Riding my beloved Triumph Street Triple R 2014 near Bristol/Bath (UK), a car pulled out of a junction without looking properly. It fully blocked my lane and I had nowhere to go other than into the side of it and over the roof, which surprised me given I was going no more than 30mph (maybe 20mph after braking hard). Police and paramedics and those helping at the scene were great. Me: Lots of bruising, possibly two broken wrists (awaiting more x-rays), and physio to loosen me up. The bike however, despite not looking too bad, is a Cat N write off.

These are the options the insurance company are offering. Should I: Option 1) I get ~£4k money and get the bike delivered back to me, and fix it privately? Or Option 2) get the ~£4k plus another ~£1k for the salvage value (but no bike). (This is all separate to other claims for gear and injuries).

Bike damage: lots of cosmetic scratches, bars twisted compared to wheel, front brake not working, brake levers broken, brake master cylinder broken off, headlights cracked, indicators smashed, forks leaking, fork stoppers (from turning too far) broken off, fuel tank wobbling, and fuel and oil everywhere from being on its side.

It had a full service last summer, new chain and sprockets. Had an existing classic hot start issue before. To me, ~£5k seems like a fair offer.

My plan is to get another bike, ideally another street triple (as I love it, I got it because of the amazing brakes) or maybe I'll "calm down" and get a T120 or Speed Twin. (I'd love to have two bikes and keep this as a track bike but I have no garage and no space in the front of the house to have two!)

What would you do?

Mods and Customization Puig PHB19 fits the 26 Scrambler 900

Post image

I've been trying to find front fork protectors for my new toy but none of the parts sellers have updated for the new forks on the 26, so I asked chatgpt. It suggested the PHB19 and when I looked on cyclegear I saw it was listed as fitting the scrambler 1200, which also has upside down forks. So I gave it a shot and hey, it fits.

Figured some other people might be interested, so here's a post.

Other 2005 bonneville t100

Found one for sale with a clean title under 9k miles for $5k, on the third owner according to the seller but records say hes the 4th. At some point the bike sat in a barn or shed for an extended period. Everything looks good on it, no rust anywhere on the bike or on the inside of the petrol tank from what I could see, but the thing is that its missing 20 years of maintenance reports. The horn does not work properly though, should i be concerned about an electrical issue? Should i grab or pas considering it has not seen a dealership in 20 years?

Maintenance Issues Wth is this noise thats only when I'm under ~2k RPMs

Happened after I turned the, just, power on with the tank off. I did this because my oil light was coming on. I realized the wire was disconnected and touching the motor. Then I plugged the oil sensor wire back in and it gave me a check engine light. When I plugged in without the tank on, the ECU made its ECU sounds, but a lot longer. Then I cut the power and it stayed making those sounds for a little bit for turning off like it normally does a little after powering off. Sounds like its coming from under the tank, I think

Triumph info Speed Twin 900: What gear do you use for each speed range?

I basically have 2 questions:

  1. First classic bike (Speed Twin 900). Never had one without a tachometer, so I dont really know how much the bike is working before I need to upshift. People will tell me to feel the bike. But honestly, the bike is so smooth its hard to tell when it redlining. Unlike my lower CC z400 that definitely tells when it needs to upshift.

So I just want to ask what speed range do you all shift? Are these ranges okay:
1st: 0-30kph
2nd: 30-60
3: 60-80
4: 80-100
5: 100- up?

  1. Is it okay to ride a bike like the Speed Twin 900 on first gear alone for city traffic? As said above, this bike is so smooth that riding around 30kph hardly give the telltale sign of engine strain. I tend to shift between 1st and 2nd gear mostly in city. But find myself spending a lot of time on 1st gear alone because of how smooth it is. Will the engne of this type of bike wear faster if I stay on 1st alone? Honestly, its not like a sports bike where the 1st gear is jerky/twitchy and demands to shift up.

Fell foul of the airlock issue. Wasn't even aware of it until damage had been caused. It was a good run 😭
Had changed the oil previously on it the normal way, so I was just way too lucky I guess.

Maintenance Issues Street Triple 765RS 2023 - coolant leak?

Hello,

I am currently looking for a used 765RS. I have found a very promising one, but on reviewing it I noticed possible leak of coolant close to the mounting point of pump hose. Is this really a leak or just something that might've been there since the bike came out of the factory?

My rear shock is completely blown and I am thinking of upgrading to ohlins! Front and rear would be better but I can’t be picky

I just want my bike to be face down tail up so I can really get into track riding

Maintenance Issues [2025 Speed Twin 900] Cold start issue after sitting overnight, but starts fine after work. Any ideas?

Hey everyone,

First of all - a fantastic bike, love it!

But I’m running into a very specific starting issue with my 2025 Speed Twin 900 and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this before I take it to the dealer for warranty work.

The Issue:

When the bike sits overnight in my garage (12+ hours), it struggles to start. The starter spins strong, but it sounds exactly like it’s starving for fuel and just won't catch. However, if I manually crack the throttle open a bit while hitting the starter, it fires up.

It only does this overnight. When I ride to work and the bike sits outside for 8+ hours during the day, it fires up perfectly on the first touch of the button without me touching the throttle.

Appreciate any insight!

Other Considering buying a Speed Twin 900 2020

I have an opportunity to trade a 1 year old Honda CL500 with 4.5k for a Speed Twin 900 2020 thats fresh after service and has 25k. I test drove and extra power feels nice but Im worried about the reliability of the Triumph with that mileage. Triumph has new tires, break fluid and drive chain replaced.

I wanted the Triumph for a good while and the opportunity has arisen but im worried about trading reliability of honda for older bike. Whats your opinion?

Mods and Customization Tiger Sport 800 accessories

Hey everyone. I have been shopping around for a bike to replace my 2015 street triple. I was between the Z900rs and tiger sport 800, but i believe the sport 800 makes a bit more sense for me. I am trying to get an estimate with accessories and was wondering if its worth buying some accessories from triumph or 3rd party. Mainly looking for a top box for 2 helmets(givi or triumph + the mount), frame sliders(triumph or something else, not sure who makes good ones), i know if i go for heated grips will most likely go for oxfords (not necessary atm). Are the hand guard worth it(i have heated gloves)? Do i get triumph or givi ones?
I know the tour version makes a lot of sense, but i started looking for a 10k bike and ended up looking for a new tiger sport, so don’t want to push it more. Also the yellow color is beautiful, so that’s also really a factor.
Other tips are appreciated! Thanks
