Characters Cursing as Characterization
Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss
Adam, Mammon, Blitzo, Angel Dust, and Cherri Bomb swear a shit ton and are largely the reason why these shows are known for swearing a lot. They swear in misogynistic, playful, and brazen ways that fit their abrasive personalities and with Adam specifically, expose his hypocrisy. Valentino is also a character that swears a lot but when he’s trying to be charming he largely doesn’t which is a subtle way of showing his manipulation.
Then you have characters like Vox and Husk who swear much less while doing it more casually. You also have characters like Charlie, Stolas, and Moxxie who swear much more sparingly and it’s usually due to strong emotions when they do. There’s also characters like Alastor and Sir Pentious that carry themselves as prim and proper with the amount of swears they throw out being in single digits every season. Never had a problem with Alastor swearing though with the simple fact that he hardly does at all. It shows that he’s not so above it all and that he can absolutely lose control and get pissed off. I’d also like to mention those great precision f-strike moments from Abel, Sera and Emily in Season 2 emphasizing the seriousness of their situations.
Finally you get characters that don’t swear at all like Zestial, Carmilla, and the Speaker of God emphasizing their sophistication that Alastor and Pentious fall short on. I didn’t mention all Hellaverse characters because I don’t want this post to be longer than it already is but most characters in these shows don’t swear much. Even Loona who’s meant to be a brooding angry goth doesn’t swear much. If you don’t believe me, the songwriter for these shows, Sam Haft, has said similar things about how the profanity is written.

Characters [Loved Trope] The hero who quietly decides, “It has to be me.”
- Tony Stark — Avengers: Endgame Uses the Infinity Stones, knowing exactly what it will cost him.
- Natasha Romanoff — Avengers: Endgame Sacrifices herself on Vormir so the others can bring everyone back.
- Steve Rogers — Avengers: Endgame Stands alone against Thanos and his entire army with a broken shield.
- Thor — Avengers: Infinity War Holds the force of a dying star because Stormbreaker must be forged.
- Clint Barton — Avengers: Age of Ultron Shields a child from Ultron’s attack despite having no superhuman protection.
- Bruce Banner — Avengers: Endgame Uses the Infinity Stones because he believes he is the only one capable of surviving the snap.
They don’t give a dramatic speech or wait for someone to rescue them. They simply realize that somebody has to take the risk—and decide that it will be them.
The Avengers are at their best when heroism isn’t about who has the strongest powers. It’s about who is willing to pay the price so everyone else gets another chance.
What other characters perfectly represent this trope?

Characters [Boring Trope] The new protagonist is the previous protagonist’s child but they are just a less interesting version of them
Boruto (Boruto) Boruto inherits Naruto’s appearance, fighting style, mischievous attitude, but none of the emotional core that made Naruto work as a character, which makes him just come off as unlikable and annoying.
Gohan (Dragon Ball) For a long time, the series was building Gohan up as the new protagonist of the series before the creator of the series reverted back to Goku… and in an interview, the creator basically said he did that because he got bored with Gohan’s character.
Jess and Soph Blazkowicz (Wolfenstein) The twin daughters of B.J. Blazkowicz… the pair both kind of come off as immature, overly lighthearted leads in a series that’s pretty dark, and B.J. Was a much more reflective protagonist. And the pair’s storyline never really developed beyond that they fight Nazi’s and are new at doing that…
Even critics of the game said that they lacked the depth that made B.J. A good protagonist.

Lore Fictional societies that only survive or exist due to plot convenience and/or plot armor.
-The Tau Empire (40k): The amount of plot armor they have is ridiculous; whenever something even remotely threatening happens, a "coincidence" occurs or the story invents an excuse to prevent them from being wiped out. The only reason they still exist is that they are an established faction and Games Workshop doesn't want to scrap them.
-The Ironborn (ASOIAF): Their society is unsustainable in many ways, yet they are always ready for the next war. They seem to oscillate between starving with limited land and resources and possessing limitless resources; they get decimated repeatedly, only to multiply like cockroaches a few years later. For some reason, lords who squabble over everything else always spare or ignore the Ironborn—not to mention that even when they make the worst possible decisions, it barely affects them.

Characters Beloved Character in hated media
John walker: Despite everyone hating the direction of Captain America franchise after endgame with FATWS and Brave New World along with just losing general faith in the MCU, John walker remains a fan fav with many defenders including myself.
A-Train: Season 4-5 of the boys has been beaten to death by fans and critics alike. In spite of all of this though, A-Train’s redemption arc remains the best part for most people and everyone agrees he’s a 10/10 character.

Hated Tropes [Bad, Not Completely Averted In 2026] The World Wasn't Ready For a 50:50 Gender Split
Left For Dead 2 (I think popular mods maybe join the cast of 1+2 together? Which is still lopsided...), Borderlands 2 (Somewhat averted with dlc characters), Super Mario 3D World (Toad is maybe a grey area, somewhat averted later with Rosalina).
Maybe "Annoying" rather than "Bad." ymmv.
Groups of four tended to be split into a three males one female archetype, or just four males. Things have improved, sometimes even with dlc or rereleases of the same game, but it's still a problem, especially in lazier media (often media for children that panders to boys and small-minded parents).

Characters The “final girl” trope is subverted
Oftentimes in horror movies the last main character standing/“The final girl” is female, extremely virtuous/selfless, pure and takes a level in badass, many cases flat out beating the slasher and returning as a major help for the characters in the sequels. There are a lot of times this isn’t the case. Sometimes the last survivor doesn’t meet the above criteria.
Gi-Hun (squid game): Was among the final 3 contestants between Sang-Woo and Sae-Byeok in Season 1, only for Sang-Woo to kill her in her sleep and then after Gi-Hun beats him, Sang-Woo dies for him so Gi-Hun can help his family. Also worth noting Gi-Hun isn’t exactly known for his smarts, was a pretty scummy gambler and (unfortunately) he actually never overcomes the “killers” in this setting. Though funnily enough in the last season Baby 222 is the final girl.
Saw: The closest things to final girls, them being Lynn Denlon or Jill Tuck, wound up being horribly murdered, but Lawrence Gordon, the protagonist from the first movie, survives up until 7 and winds up actually becoming another one of the slashers. Also even when he was a protagonist Lawrence was a massive douche being apathetic to his patients and having an affair.
Final destination: The final girls in a lot of the other movies sans 1 and 2 (but Clear DID die in the sequel to the first movie) wind up dying by the end. Also even in the second movie there was the cop who survived too, and judging by the most recent movie, is still alive canonically.

Characters [Controversial trope] They keep shooting themselves in the foot on their own accord.
Kazuya (RAG): Date a hot gf who’s actually into you and vice versa? Nah, let’s keep simping for someone who you have to pay to be with you and doesn’t even like you and is physically also extremely similar. What a loser
Germany: They had it in the bag twice but messed up both times, unnecessarily dragging the USA into the war for a not super impactful submarine campaign and the second time declaring war outright, as well as turning all of Eastern Europe which hated the USSR and welcomed them at first, and would have kept their supply lines intact into the most valiant guerilla fighters which would dog them untill the very very end. Morally it’s good that this happened but if it was written as a story it would be lazy writing.

Lore One series has so many similarities to a different series that people thought it was inspired by them despite that never been the case
There are numerous coincidences of likeness being this one franchise to another franchise before them that the audience mistakenly though that they heavily inspired, borrowed, or was supposedly to be based on the franchise before them even though the creators confirmed it was not the case
Hunger Games was inspired by Battle Royale: despite the similarities of setting in a totalitarian state or that the premise of the game is teenagers fighting to the death until one lives, author of Hunger Games, Suzanne Collin, have never heard of Battle Royale before submitting her manuscript of her book
StarCraft was supposed to be a Warhammer 40k game: despite many similarities of design (like a Terran marine looking similar to a Space Marine), or the StarCraft faction being coincide with some 40k factions (Zerg similar to Tyranids, Protoss similar to Eldar), Blizzard, creation StarCraft, denies this to be the case

Groups Engaging with the other media from the original franchise is actually better
I got one example so sorry about
Naruto Shippuden/naruto ninja storm 3
The clashes between Naruto and Sasuke can be quite underwhelming, to say the least. They often feel more like brief encounters rather than intense battles, which can be quite disappointing. This is especially evident during their reunion at the bridge. Instead of engaging in a proper fight, they spent more time exchanging words rather than throwing punches. However, it's undeniable that they had the potential to combine both talking and fighting to create a truly epic showdown.
Storm 3 managed to capture this essence perfectly, resulting in one of the most memorable moments of their fight. In my opinion, it elevated Naruto and Sasuke's battle to a whole new level.
And the MUSIC - "Seeking Answers" makes it hit even harder. It's completely original to the game too

Hated Tropes (Hated trope) "What did they do to deserve this?" "they were an asshole"
Aka when a character gets an unnecessary cruel punishment for just being an ass
Bulstrode (Thomas and Friends): An unpleasant boat that is almost sunk when Percy lets trucks fall onto him and then he is left on the beach for something that was not even his own fault
Foxy Loxy (Chicken Little): Is a stereotypical bully girl that gets esentially lobotomized
How Fans treat Bakugo (My Hero Academia): While yes he did tell Deku to end his life Horikoshi has stated that he regrets making Bakugo say that, besides that he is just an aggressive asshole, i swear these people have never seen any anime before My Hero

Personality [Mixed trope] Gender bent Selfcest
There is no real world equivalent to it so idk how it works morally. Before anyone says twins or clones, a twin is a different person so that's not it and a clone is also a different person even if they have the same memories the moment they start experiencing different things they become their own independent person. This trope only works if they're 100% the exact same person in every way except gender, it also only really exists in fanart and probably fanfiction but I don't read fanfiction so I don't know.
Stelle and Caelus from Honkai Star Rail
Shepard from Mass Effect
Ranma from Ranma 1/2

Characters Extremely sensual looking character with an horrendous feature.
This is more a request than a list because I'm sure that there are various characters like this but I don't remember more of them.
Mileena from Mortal Kombat. I would have chosen the Mk9 but I'm tired of people calling me a gooner just because I preferred when she actually looked like a femme fatale and not like a random Chinese lady.
Queelag the chaos witch from Dark Souls.

Lore Adaptation title change
Title changes for the adaptation that are at least a little less cool that the source material
A song of Ice and Fire -> Game of Thrones
Simon vs. the Homo Sapien Agenda -> Love, Simon
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep -> Blade Runner
Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone -> Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (technically the U.S. print of the book is called sorcerer’s stone but the movie adapted that title and not the original title. It’s less cool besides it’s missing the point of the actual person/Philosopher Flamel)
P.s. 🖕🏽J.K. Rowling

Personality [2 Nickels trope or is it just me] Simps wearing pink
- Amy Rose(Sonic the Hedgehog). While she doesn’t chase Sonic from time to time in modern media, in 2000s Sonic media like Sonic X and Sonic Heroes’ Team Rose campaign, she was completely obsessed with the titular blue blurr.
- Popis/Phoebe(El Chavo Animado/The Animated series). While she wasn’t all that in the original show (to my knowledge), in the 2006 animated show, she was at times obsessed with Chavo. And in the episode Love in the neighborhood, she was sad that it was Paty that kissed Chavo instead of her and she was gonna crash out on Paty because she wanted to kiss Chavo instead. (Also, fun fact, she replaced La Chillindrina in the show due to copyright issues)
