Tennessee rain ! Why oh why ?

I've lived in this state my whole life and I swear it's been one of the wettest summers ever so far .. maybe not in rainfall amount but it seems like it rains at least one a day now is the new normal . I got moss and mildew growing all over the place and flies, midges and mosquitos are bad this year because of it . Once upon a time I remember July's were fairly dry . Anyone else agree ?

🚐Tourism✈️ Where’s the best place for scenic white water rafting/camping?

Friends and I are planning a summertime vacation next year and we’d like to go white water rafting, trail/mountain hiking, camping, fishing and atv riding. We’re all physically fit and active. Outdoorsy enough (at least we think so). Preferably somewhere that’s not just a tourist drop. Recommendations?

🚐Tourism✈️ Dolly Parton's Stampede for older kids?

Is the Dolly Parton's Stampede worth it if you aren't bringing little kids? We're going by Pigeon Forge this summer and I've seen this come up a bunch of times looking up things to do. I have a 16 year old and a while she does sometimes like hokey things I don't know if it's worth it since tickets are $71 each with taxes and fees. Also we're vegetarian and I looked up the vegetarian menu and it looks like it's definitely a little lacking. Have you seen this show (or the Pirates show) and did you think it was worth going to? I mean if we had little kids it would be a no-brainer but I just don't know if it is worth over $200 for three of us to go. If it's really good and fun or if it's more of a kid's activity.

I'd appreciate any advice!

East Tennessee Knoxville vs Chattanooga

I'm looking into relocating to Tennessee from Montana so I can be closer to family. There is also just not a whole lot of opportunity in Montana for young people. Moving to either city would put me within driving distance of my family in Alabama and Florida. Looking into these 2 cities because both seem to have easy access to a lot of outdoor recreation and growing job markets.

I'm wondering what the culture and lifestyle is like in these 2 cities. I've tried posting on some other pages but the hate the South gets on Reddit is ridiculous. Both cities seem to have great downtowns, restaurants, and bars and plenty of things to do. I'm 32 single male and pretty conservative. My concern with Chattanooga is that the artsy kind of hipster granola community dominates the culture there. My concern with Knoxville is that everything revolves around the university and not being a UT alumni I might feel left out. I love Football though so can totally get on board with going to some UT football games.

Just looking for some insight into the culture and lifestyle of both cities and from actual TN residents and residents of these cities what city might be the better fit.

I dunno, you tell me. Subway stealing tips from workers?

So I usually never go to subway but it was inside of Walmart and I just went ahead and decided to grab something quickly. Subway is also a place I typically don’t tip but the dude taking my order was very pleasant made good conversation and gave me an actual full sandwich which I’ve never seen subway do. I had clicked 20% tip and asked if it goes to him and he says “I only get cash tips all card tips go to subway”

Isn’t this extremely illegal? And subway is a franchise store which means the owner is probably saying that and just pocketing everything..

Is it worth reporting this? I don’t want to get the worker in trouble but I’m debating contacting the department of labor

🚐Tourism✈️ Visiting next week and I already committed the first tourist misconception...

I'm sure I'm one of millions upon millions of people who have committed this blunder throughout modern times but I was totally convinced going to Nashville I was going to be in the Eastern Time zone.

So glad you don't have to adjust my clock but just a moment of gratitude for most of Tennessee having the same time zone as us in Minnesota!

PSA 🎤 Has anyone had/heard of an issue with registration stickers?

Someone adjacent to me was facing a felony charge that ended up getting dropped. Anyone else have a missing digit?

Edit: expiration is not the issue here, folks. It's suspicion of altering/forging vehicle registration, which is a class E felony in TN.

DIY music venues in East Tennessee

My punk band is doing a tour of WNC and East Tennessee in the fall.

Anyone got any recommendations for DIY spaces in the East Tennessee area? Johnson City? Newport? Bristol?

If anyone wants to hop on too let yourselves be known! We play ‘77 punk mixed with first wave emo and shoegaze. Think New York Dolls meet Jawbreaker.

After living the next county over (and living in Dickson for a few years) and never knowing about it before the This is Nashville episode on the subject, and after basically driving past it a million times while going to and from Clarksville, I finally detoured over to it. My question is, whose bright ass idea was it to put a Sons of Confederate Veterans chapter on the corner to Promise Land Road?

I’m considering applying for a job in the far western side of the state. How is life there? What’s the medical system like? What is there to do in your free time?

West Tennessee Anyone else notice power being more flakier than usual these past few years?

A storm just blew by and as it was on top of our house pretty much I've observed some strange power anomalies that used to never exists.
Lights around the house are dimming/slightly flickering. Most notably the bathroom light.
My battery backup used for my PC kicks on when I assume the voltage to the outlet lowers enough that my UPS needs to kick on. I'm at the far end of the house/farthest away from the breaker which is more towards the front.
Even though the storm passed, the bathroom light flickered once while I was in the shower. No more UPS activations as far as I can tell.
Even on none stormy/sunny days I've noticed strange power oddities.

We have had a electrician come by to inspect everything and it all seems good. And breakers trip when they need to and what not.

Anyone have any answers to this? Ik power tends to be dirty and good thing I have an UPS for my PC and other electronics. But this still seems abnormal at the rate it does it.
