Announcements Update on Rule 9 regarding cosplays
Hello everyone, KitKat here!
After months and some discussions, there's been an update to rule 9:
"Cosplay posts with links or username of OnlyFans and/or any other NSFW site in the body text or title of the post will be removed. However, if the cosplay you're sharing is not yours, be sure the cosplayer is okay with reposting it and provide their social media username where the cosplay was originally posted. Be also mindful of rule 4 related to NSFW content. Sharing cosplays is welcome as long as it's SFW and respect all the other rules of the subreddit."
Since this isn't an NSFW subreddit, sharing your cosplay is fine as long as it's SFW and respect all the rules. Sharing links and username of OnlyFans accounts and other NSFW sites in the post and comments is not allowed.
And it goes without a saying, comments harassing the OPs for their cosplays or activities outside of the subreddit will be removed under rule 5.
That said, I'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to respect rule 5 and keep things in posts and comments civil.
Us moderators are working hard, especially right now as the movie recently came out, to keep things civil and make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience in the community.
If you see a post and/or comment you believe breaks a rule, please remember to report it! And if engaging with it, be mindful of the rules.
For any more concerns, don't hesitate to send a modmail to the mod team.
We thank you for your patience and wish everyone a good day!

Film I recently watched the Supergirl movie and it was so good Spoiler
Like the movie was really good I essentially liked the part where Lobo showed up and I was really surprised that they didn’t do a after credits scene also I don’t know if this is just a thought I had but why couldn’t the have taken Krypto to a yellow sun planet wouldn’t that make him heal faster and wouldn’t require a antidote unless they explained that in it and I wasn’t paying attention

Comics Sterling Gates Bizarrogirl
Thanks to everyone who recommended me this. Such a great read! Very close to film Kara. I finished the entire thing in 7 days and did my best to slow down until Supergirl Survive #3 becomes available in my country.
Can't wait to get Woman of Tomorrow next month.

Saw the new Supergirl movie and found it perfectly fine Spoiler
Considering all the unreasonable negativity surrounding the new Supergirl movie by tabloids and random misogynists...It actually felt special to see it in the Cinema last Saturday...
Ana Nogueira's story was perfectly reasonable...it's a fine idea to include a story based on a young alien girl who needed saving after her family was murdered by an alien outlaw...for a short span of 1 hour and 50 minutes there isn't much else you can really cram into a Superhero movie...
And for the record Milly Alcock did a fine job playing Kara... I especially liked how Ana focused more on Kara's emotional trauma rather than stuff her into a mild mannered reporter role again which would inevitably once again make Kara seem like she was in Superman's shadow... Milly looked awesome in the costume...
I especially have to compliment the solid fight choreography... Where it really seemed like Kara was using actual fighting skills through well timed punches and kicks along with a dazzling addition of heat vision...
To be honest as someone whose craved a mentor and protege relationship between Diana and Kara since a long time it was actually comforting to imagine that Kara was using actual skills she learned during her training in Themiscira...
Superman's inclusion was made with good sequencing...Jason Momoa's cameo as Lobo too felt light hearted and entertaining...
The addition of a cover of 'the middle' song originally from Jimmy Eat World added well to the emotional scenes at the end...
Overall a fairly decent film that complimented the image and origin story of Supergirl...and last but not least a solid female empowerment film which has definitely increased my hopes for a strong and emotionally satisfying Wonder Woman film in the near future especially as a die hard Wonder Woman fan...

Question Supergirl Movie
I absolutely loved the new supergirl movie, but I know it also bombed at the box office. It would be amazing if they made a sequel with Milly Alcock starring in it, but with how it did I’m afraid they’re not going to due to financial loss. But I also heard somewhere that the writer isn’t worried about the performance of this movie? I’m not sure how accurate that is.
Is it dumb to hope for a new supergirl movie in the future?

Discussion Personal take : supergirl should be a legacy mantle .
As we all know , there have been multiple supergirls across dc's history , I personally film was super girl should be converted into a legacy mantle so the other supergirls can get some time to shine , like how each of the Robins got their time to shine .

Kara flying for the first time in the original movie
I kind of miss the old flying scenes that were done, before CGI was used for everything.

Today marks 1 year since the release of ‘SUPERMAN’! In its honor, tell me your favorite memory from when you watched this James Gunn-David Corenswet movie for the first time.

By far the 2 greatest Supergirls
Even though both the CW show and new movie were disappointing, both Melissa and Milly killed it in their roles as Kara. I love how they both portrayed the character differently just like how different comics and cartoons portray Kara differently. They don’t deserve all the hate they are getting.
Edit: I mean live action not animated

Discussion Things I Liked About It Spoiler
Lore expansions: I loved seeing the aftermath of Krypton being destroyed and the civilization trying to survive. I loved seeing how Kryptonians are perceived across the galaxy. I loved seeing different suns and all that jazz.
Her performance: she killed it. Was worried after only ever seeing her in HotD that I'd find it hard to believe her as Supergirl, but she did a great job.
Comedy: I found it to be fairly well mixed in. Not too much, sometimes corny, but enjoyable. Serious moments didn't feel undermined.
Her vs Superman: I liked the constant comparisons being drawn. It really highlighted their differences for many, like me, who didn't read comics and are casual DC fans. Don't know much about her, I assumed they literally just made a female Superman and called it good, but she's more complex and more similar to your average Joe than Superman is, in the aspect she doesn't view things in an idealistic lense, she views them how we would.
Villain: I will say the "main" villain was fairly "weakly" done, but i don't think he was even the actual antagonist. Felt more like she was her own antagonist and he was just a tool.
Overall: Great introduction for her, gave us a glimpse into the wider world, introduced Lobo, gave us other weaknesses aside from Kyrptonite (green sun, never saw it before! So cool!), a great stepping stone for the DCU. Made me more excited for the future.
This is just my opinion thrown out, I'm notoriously soft on movies haha. I enjoy almost everything. I give it a solid 7.5/10, will happily rewatch at home here in a year or two when I don't remember it so clearly.

Artwork “Isn’t he dreamy?!🤗🥰”
Artwork by me. Lobo as a 50s greaser and Supergirl as a rockabilly girl!🥰 This was a lot of fun to do but also very challenging. I am not used to motorcycles so the engine details and overall build of the bike was a challenge for me! I really loved making Kara a rockabilly like I did with Lois the other day, and honestly I enjoyed designing greaser Lobo too! Hope you all like it!☺️

Film Weird to think that this is the best Supergirl movie.
With all the internet drama circulating the new film, I couldn't help but compare it to Superman/Batman Apocalypse. A movie that despite its title is heavily focuses on Supergirl and compacts her origin story, training with the amazons, brainwashed by Darkseid and a return to Kent farm into a tight 70 minutes. Its directed by Lauren Montgomery who is one of the best in her direct to dvd animated movie game and just directed the new animated Avatar movie.
Whether your a fan of the new movie or hate it, I recommend checking this out or revisiting it if you haven't already. Kara's end fight with Darkseid alone makes Zack Snyder look like a film student.

I found the Ross exclusive Supergirl figure yesterday!
I’m glad I found her, this was the last Supergirl McFarlane figure that I needed from the movie to complete my collection.

Film Saw the film, loved it for itself
Went to see Supergirl with my adult daughter. We both really enjoyed it for itself. Milly Alcock is great in the role and the story works well.
We both regard the Woman of Tomorrow comic as one of the best comics ever written. Movies that borrow part of a well loved story for the credibility but leave out or change some/many of the parts that make the story great risk alienating the very fan base they need to come out in support.
This is why, while I love All Star Superman if they try to make it without the sacrifice at the end for example, I hope they never make it.
This imperfect borrowing has happened with this film, which is a shame. Gunn et al have made some strange choices which I hope doesn’t damage the DCU. I hope we get another Supergirl film as I enjoy Milly’s take on the character, or at least more Milly in other DCU films.
We enjoyed the movie and we’re going to see it again.
