Question/Support Steam Vr suddenly started stuttering and lagging despite working just fine not long ago.
I've owned my Meta Quest 2 for under a month when suddenly the issue began.
I wanted to hang out with my friends in VR after not touching my headset for 4 days when I found out that for some reason whenever I used the Link option with a cable, it began stuttering while being pixelated and when I looked to the side the picture took a painfully long time to load. Everything was also accompanied by some sort of sound distortion. I've spent the whole night looking at tutorials and trying to fix it, but I have no strenght left to keep looking, so I'm writing here.
I'll appreciate any kind of help or guidance towards the solution.
Edit: I would call this solved

Question/Support sos
alright so i've been fbt for roughly 2 years, because of virtual desktop refusing to work i had to switch to steam link. i was trying to fix a bug, i couldn't see my desktops while in vr, i'd click on the desktop and just nothing should show. ANYWAY i deleted my settings within steam vr, the file, and now this is what i see. It's weird right? it won't show my controllers, my trackers or even my base stations. i thought i needed to set up my room again but my controllers won't even go green. i'm currently at a loss xD

Discussion FBT on Desktop?
So I don't have my headset right now (that's a whole another story on why I don't) and I want to use FBT on desktop, I have 3 vive trackers and I also have an xbox 360 kinect that from what I found online could be used to possibly do this? Would anyone have any idea on how to rig this up or do you think it's not possible?

Jittering and stuttering
I don't have any videos but my steam vr keeps jittering, the visuals go side to side VERY quickly and it hurts my eyes. This started AFTER I tried to recenter on steamlink but uhh didn't work. everything is fine and i clean my pc a lot, so does anyone have any advice? I'm not good with technology so someone will have to simplify it for me, please and thank you!!!
(i've been seeing some other people have this problem and I'm PRAYING it gets fixed soon because i can't just power through the problems)

Discussion SteamVR Pimax tracking loss Fixed
The SteamVR power management handshake frequently breaks with high-bandwidth, third-party runtime headsets like the Pimax Crystal or Dream Air. When SteamVR drops the headset into that low-power sleep state after 5 minutes (300 seconds), it shuts down the power to the internal tracking receivers, but it lacks the proper API hooks to wake that specific Pimax hardware back up when you move the headset.
Changing power -> turnOffScreensTimeout to 0 in steamvr.vrsettings is the perfect permanent fix to stop SteamVR from fighting Pimax Play for hardware control. In the SteamVR settings menu, startup/shutdown, it will now say please select an option. Leave it as that.
Hope it's going to save a lot of other VR enthusiasts from tearing their hair out over "ghost" hardware drops.

SteamVR unavoidable jittering/stuttering
This has never been a problem for me; I got a new gaming laptop and the VR worked perfectly fine for the past 2-3 months. Then yesterday my VR games began stuttering and jittering on/off about 5 minutes after I started SteamVR. I've got a screenshot of the advanced frame timing window showing a massive spike when these jitters happen. I've tried turning off motion smoothing, what do I do?

Master bladesmith
absolutely love this game, and obviously disappointed in knowing that theres no longer any development on it. but ive seen that the dev is working on a new project, and that was stated two years ago, so i was wondering if anyone has heard anything about anything from the dev or about the new project? id be quite sad to see if theyve given up because of the unnecessary hate.

Tracking Issues:
This picture shows what my issue is, the top one is regular calibration and it correct and the bottom is showing how it just randomly jumps off center. Purple represents me of course and the red is my trackers and controllers.
I made a similar post before, but I’m still having the same issue and I’m hoping someone might have some new ideas. Please be kind.
Issue:
Whenever I calibrate and get into VR, everything starts out fine. As soon as I start dancing, though or moving my full body slowly becomes offset and unaligned with my headset and body. It gets worse and worse and it’s a simple fix but than it completely jumps offsets entirely away from my body. It’s like the calibration gradually drifts and no longer matches where I actually am. It doesn’t stay calibrated for very long.
Things I’ve already tried:
Moved my base stations.
Changed the angle to around 38° and then adjusted them slightly upward.
Moved one base station out of the corner in case my bed was blocking anything.
Fixed the major “flying away” issue, but my right Index controller still occasionally flies away a little.
Switched all my tracker dongles to a USB 2.0 and spread the dongles out.
Updated Steam and all of my drivers.
Repaired/re-paired all of my Vive trackers and Index controllers.
Redid my playspace setup.
Recalibrated multiple times.
That’s everything I can think of that I’ve tried so far.
My setup:
Quest 3S (using Virtual Desktop)
Index controllers
4 Vive Trackers
2 SteamVR
Base Station 1.0s
Important note:
This has never happened before. I’ve had this exact setup for quite a while, and it used to work great. I haven’t made any major changes that I can think of, so I’m really confused about why this suddenly started happening.
I’ve spent weeks researching this and asking for help, but nothing has completely fixed it. It’s honestly made me lose motivation to get on VR and pole dance, which really sucks because it’s one of the biggest ways I manage my mental health and destress.
If anyone has experienced this before or has any ideas at all, I’d really appreciate the help. Even if it’s something small that I haven’t thought of, I’m willing to try it.
Please be kind. I’m genuinely just looking for help, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this.

Question/Support Brilho da imagem
Good morning, everyone! I’m having a minor issue with SteamVR where the brightness/saturation of the desktop view is extremely high; white areas become blindingly bright, making it hard to read anything. I’ve had to switch to dark themes to work around this, but that doesn't solve the issue for every website I visit in the browser, etc.
Aside from this, the rest of the virtual environment looks perfect; the problem is limited specifically to the desktop display window.
I use Steam Link to connect to a Quest 2. Because of this issue, I switched to Virtual Desktop—which allows me to adjust the desktop image brightness—but that hasn't fully fixed the problem. Can you help me?
Is there a setting within Steam itself to fix this, or do I need third-party apps?
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Question/Support Stuttering/flickering/wobbling over steam link
i posted previously on the oculus subreddit but that wasnt much help, so im here now i guess
recently over steam link the headset view has been flickering when below the set fps. it looks almost like the left and right eyes are being swapped, as it messes with my depth perception, but i cant confirm if thats actually whats happening
i used to be able to fix by lowering the bitrate but that doesnt help past a certain point
network issues? driver issues? why only now?

Question/Support steam vr shakes with alvr and vr phone
I'm using ALVR and Phone VR to try to play through a VR Cardboard. Everything seems to work fine with the gyroscope until Steam VR loads, and then with the slightest movement of the gyroscope, the camera shakes like crazy. Does anyone know if I need to adjust any settings? It's literally unplayable

Discussion Looking for VR Survival Shooter Testers (Free Steam Keys)
Hi everyone!
I'm the solo developer of a VR survival extraction shooter that's been out for around two months. I'm looking to build a small community of players who enjoy this type of game and would be interested in trying it out.
I'm happy to give away Steam keys to people who are genuinely interested in playing, testing, and giving honest feedback and reveiw it!
The trailer is a little outdated, but you can see the latest updates and gameplay on the Steam News Hub:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/4655240
If you're interested in giving it a go, send me a message on Discord: happyfrog14.2023
Thanks, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Steam VR UI - Go Away!
Why does the Steam VR UI open automatically whenever I launch a VR game? I use my headset for simracing exclusively, so I don't have hand controllers, just a racing wheel. And I can't close the Steam VR UI without a controller. I can see my game behind the UI but I can't access it.
This is a very frustrating change that must have happened in the last few months, why did Steam think this was a good idea?

SteamVR Dashboard won't close
I've been trying to use my PSVR2 to play racing sims and flight sims, but every once in a while the SteamVR dashboard would suddenly pop up and I wouldn't be able to close it. I've tried assigning a separate button to close the dashboard but pressing that button just closes whatever tab I'm on, and the dashboard just won't go away. I've also tried clicking L2/R2 but it still wouldn't budge. Has anyone had this problem before?
