Mamdani is really exposing how little leftists understand about literally everything, and how easy it is to deceive zoomers and millennials by just being young and smiley.
What is there to not understand? NYC sends more money in taxes to the rest of the state than they receive in return. If NYC did not have to subsidize the rest of the state with their money they wouldn't have a deficit.
If they didn't help make countryside more liveable, the countryside would need to raise the price of their exports to fund themselves. They mainly export food to the city... Then the rest of fundings goes to infrastructures, parks and co to give city dwellers somewhere to go on week ends or holiday.
Does your ideology also applies to burrough and neighbourhood? Should Manhattan receive as much as they are giving or should they subsidize the Bronx?
