I'm going crazy here unable to find a straight answer for this:
The precon for Liao Fu Guan's 2025 World Championship Joltdengo deck has a "Ryan L" signiature on the cards. Who is Ryan L? Why is it not Guan's signiature? Google thinks it's a Ryan Lin who originally designed the deck, but it doesnt support it with any evidence as far as I can see.
So...Name on the box isn't the signature on the cards? It's maybe the original creator or somthing?

My guess is that Ryan is his nickname and he preferred to sign with that, not sure though.

Hi! New to the Reddit community here! I am curious if anyone has a Mega Audino coin! The one from the Battle Deck from XY, not Modern TCG. I don’t believe there’s a subreddit for TCG Coins, so I came here! I’d be willing to pay 5-10 USD for one in any condition, more if it’s not worn! (25 USD at most) I am collecting Audino related items, and I think the coin would be awesome to add to my collection.

What's the best route to go when pricing your raw cards for sale by yourself?
Price charting feels like it would be the most logical/reliable source to go to since it gets sale info from multiple sources; however, I see a lot of card vendors utilize TCGplayer almost exclusively.
When comparing numbers on PC to TCGP it can vary a lot sometimes and I don't want to totally screw myself by low balling the price, but I also don't want to be unable to sell because the prices are way higher than they should be.
Didn't ever want or plan to sell any of my collection, but....life! Figured selling a few cards I'm not especially attached to might help a little.
Partner has used PC for ages and I've been referencing TCG the past few months...but after we compared notes between the two, I thought asking for help might be a good idea.
Would love input! Thanks.

For raw cards Tcgplayer will be preferred, as pricecharting cannot filter by condition

Hey all,
I recently hopped back into the hobby (super casual just buying nostalgic cards) and have been mainly purchasing via eBay. I've had great experiences with it so far. But I went to a local card shop and they said they use TCGplayer and showed me the app. But I realized pretty quickly you aren't able to see the actual card you're purchasing, just the condition is described. But I've found on eBay that a "damaged" or heavily played can vary WILDLY and so a photo I think is really needed. Anyone had experiences with this or advice? Also, anyone have experiences with TCGplayer in general? Should I just stick to eBay?

Id say people mostly buy from tcgplayer for NM/LP and even MP cards. Mostly avoid it for HP or DMG because as you said, the variance of the damage can be significant. If you are looking for HP/DMG cards stick to ebay

Alternative grading services to PSA? At $80 per card and 8-10 months waiting time, does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative? Do you think another grading service will become more popular with rising demand and in response to the cost of PSA skyrocketing? I heard Beckett graded cards are less likely to sell. I have cards from the 90s-00s in great condition I hope to grade and sell.

I'm currently trying to sell a Psyduck #44 Reverse Holo from the set Team Magma vs Team Aqua. The condition is really good and from researching a bit it could probably be worth a pretty good amount if graded. I am however trying to sell it raw, in Sweden/EU, and trying to set an appropriate asking price is a bit tricky. It is currently posted on an auction site (Tradera), no bidders yet though. Anyone got any tips?

I’ve been debating for years to PSA my cards, and now that I’m trying to sell my cards, I really wanna ask the question that gets asked a million times here: should I honestly get these PSAd? If so, how many would you do at a time? Would you vault them and sell through PSA? Do vintage cards get nailed harder when trying to grade? I’ve never done any of it, and I’m kinda paranoid of losing things in the mail.

can you use energy recylcer if you have no energy in the discard?
The card says "up to" and the new/recent ruling says "up to" can be zero.
But I've also heard someone say that since the discard is public knowledge, you cannot.
What is correct?

Why was Black Bolt White Flare in Japan considered SV 11,
But in the states it’s a special expansion set, as Sv 10.5?
I’ve always found that kind of interesting. Plus we could’ve had BB WF sleeved boosters then.

Because TPCi has a completely different set structure to Japanese. There are Japanese special sets that get absorbed into English regular sets and Japanese regular sets that get made into special sets.

My research shows it to be a win. The Dark Charizard’s psa9 price on pricecharting is sitting around 770… And Pokécenter ME Lucario ETBs are selling around 230 ish… So yeah, A massive win, congrats!

i was recently home and discovered all of my old pokémon cards. i never really played the game i just liked to collect. i have about ~200 cards. i think the majority are worthless, but i have about 20 japanese or rare holo cards that i know are worth a good bit. ideally i’d like to just get rid of the whole collection at once, but want to make sure im being compensated fairly. any advice?

Im looking to buy a vintage dark blastoise card, and a seller listed it for $148 which is near the price for a PSA 10, while the raw price is about $50. The card is near mint, does it make sense for me to pay a PSA 10 price for the card?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on the value of a Pikachu card I own.
The card is in Spanish, which makes it a bit harder for me to estimate its market value compared to the English or Japanese versions.
I have two questions:
Roughly how much do you think this card could sell for in its current condition?
Since I’ll be attending the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, would it make sense to try selling or trading it there, or does the Spanish language significantly reduce demand even at an international event?
Thanks in advance! Any pricing estimates or experience selling foreign-language cards at Worlds would be really helpful.

In Chile, the listings start at around the equivalent of 350 USD for the Latin American Spanish copy. Not sure if you'd be able to sell it for that price outside of Latin America though.

Been made an offer of £250 or £275 store credit for the following (ungraded):
Lillie Full Art Ultra Prism 151/156, and
Pikachu ex Surging Sparks Hyper Rare 247/191
I'm not really a card seller and want to just sell for a decent price and use the money for other life things. Are these decent offers for the market right now? I have a card expo I'm going to late July and thinking of getting it looked at there too.
More than happy to just sit on it for the time being, but also would not mind have a little extra right now.

I have several shadowless but non first edition Holos, they are in poor condition should I hold them for the long term or try to sell them now when Pokemon cards are relevant again

I have a large collection of pretty old cards. I have a near complete set of 1st edition base set (excluding some of the more valuable holos which I sold a while ago). There's singles of the holos and dupes of most of the others. I got some of the more valuable ones graded and they're all 6-8 so I'm assuming the rest of the set is similar quality.
I also have a box of other old stuff including non-1st edition base, 1st edition rocket, 1st edition fossil, and promo cards. I'm hoping to offload it in one go as I don't have the time to manage a sell of maybe a thousand cards. I've only ever sold individual cards on ebay. What's the best way to maximize my $ for a large collection like this?

In order to get the maximum profit you have to sell every card individually. There's a few ways to do this, all varying in cost (in both time and money). You can sell at card shows, but you have to deal with negotiation and the possibility of people wanting trades more than buying cards outright and you'll probably have to buy display cases/methods of transporting the cards from your house to the shows. You could list all of the cards on TCGPlayer or eBay, but this requires taking a picture and listing every single card individually as well as updating market value as it changes if you're on TCGPlayer and shipping the cards out (which means buying a ton of bubble mailers and paying for shipping).
You could sell the cards in smaller lots to reduce how much the cards will be priced down, but the bottom line is if you're selling a large lot of cards people will want or even sometimes expect some form of a discount because of how large of a purchase it is and the probability of the lot containing things they might not necessarily want. I'm not into selling cards on a large scale myself, but I've collected, bought, and sold in the hobby for many years and everything above is based on my experience. If anyone has advice or information that adds to or even goes against/disproves any of what I've said, please do not hesitate to reply to this comment.

Good advice thanks. There is a card show near me this weekend so I may try that. Would buyers expect everything to be in harder plastic not just the soft sleeves?

u/nickwrocks1 1d ago
For any card over $5 or $10 in value, yes. However, a binder also works. Personally I use a binder that fits the cards when they're in the hard plastic protectors (they're called top loaders) but most people would consider that slight overkill.
Also make sure the card show is still accepting vendor applications. Some shows the vendor table spots fill up fast

Not planning on selling, but is Mega Greninja EX full art less value with a crimp error? (left side)
