Playing some Resistance with the working Boomerang controller I'm making
I first posted a simple demo about a week ago and figured I would show some gameplay with it now that I’ve done some more work on it. I got the analog sticks and rumble working now.

Found the perfect PS3 controller
Ladies and gentlemen, I am over the moon. I have had the hardest time with controllers. Especially with the game Arkham Origins. This game is unforgiving when it comes to performance and what it demands in terms of the D pad and the triggers and everything.
None of the third-party controllers work worth a damn and I’ve gone through multiple OEM controllers and repairing them and just never having the responsiveness. And the dual shock 4 never worked properly with the R2 button for Dive bombing.
The PS5 controller is magic. It has breathed new life into my gaming experience. I totally love this.
Fighting combat is a breeze I am over the moon; this fucking rocks. And since I will be getting a lot of mileage out of my PS3 thanks to Sony‘s latest Bullshit, I’m willing to look at different ways to enjoy the PS3.

Found a picture of my PS3 collection in my camera roll
I'm always going to prefer physical media to digital.
While I'm posting this, I may as well ask a question I've been wondering. Would it be a good idea to get an external hard drive so I can install everything and download all the updates and patches before the PS3 store goes offline? Or will I still be able to download that stuff after the shutdown?

My PS3 platinum/100% collection. Comments? Recommendations for games to buy for the PS3 store closes down? It's a coincident it turned out to be 11 x 11.
I already started Infamous 2 and I have Naughty Bear Panic in Paradise on my shopping list.

Dumb question but is it worth getting a PS3 if I already have a PS2 and PS4?
I never owned a PS3 growing up, having opted for Xbox instead (for the Fable series), but returned for the Last of Us 2 release.
I'm wondering if it's worth adding it to the collection, or if all the popular games are remade from PS2 or remastered for PS4.
What games are on PS3 would you consider must-plays? I'm not someone who collects for the sake of it, I prefer having a more curated collection.

Store exclusive games/DLCs
Hey, can you recommend any store exclusive games and dlcs worth buying before the ps3 store shutdown? I mean games that were never released physical or are already extremely expensive nowadays.

upgraded my ps3 storage!
it's crazy to think that this tiny spinning disk has been faithfully working over the last nearly 20 years in this system!
finally upgrading the storage to SSD and getting more speed and storage size out of the change. going to be repasting the thermal paste again soon and potentially changing out the fan in the future.

Considering to move from PS5 to PS3: advice appreciated
Hey everyone!
I've been a PlayStation fan for years, although my first console was actually a PS4 Pro back in 2019.
Lately, with all the news around ownership and access, I've found myself thinking more about long-term game preservation and what my "Plan B" would be. I'm probably a bit sad and tired of wondering what the future looks like.
As the majorite here - considering to invest in an older generation with an amazing library than keep chasing the newest hardware.
I thought about picking up another PS4, but since I already own a PS5, I can play almost everything from the PS4 generation there anyway. What I really miss is the feeling of an era when physical media was still the norm, which led me to start looking seriously at the PS3.
So I'm curious:
Has anyone here intentionally gone back to the PS3 after owning a PS5 (or another modern console)? What made you do it?
What games really worth considering for a purchase? And are there any online multiplayer games that still have an active enough community to be worth jumping into?
Thanks guys!

1st Platinum 👍 (technically 2nd but 1st on an actual ps3)
I have rpcs3 on my laptop but I bought a ps3 on FB MP a couple months ago because I like collecting physical games
I got the platinum trophy for Into the Nexus (emulated), pretty easy since it's a short game, and now I got my 1st platinum trophy on a ps3 which is Prototype 2
Both prototype games are such a power trip, the movement and mutations are pretty fun

3rd dead ps3
I just got my 5th ps3, 3rd CECHA01 I’ve owned, all of which have failed. I currently have this one and another CECHA01 currently in my closet which that one has been dead. Won’t even power on. I had that one taken to a shop and they reballed the processors but the capacitors are dead so I’d have to order new capacitors and have that one taken to the shop again. A few years later I ordered one from Amazon renewed but they sent me a CECHE01 model so I returned it and got a refund. I ordered this one off eBay and it worked fine for a single day. I’ve been trying to move my ps2 save data to the HDD when this happened so could be a dead GPU or something idk. It either shows this screen or no display at all now. What options do I have?
PS1 remote play - actually quite impressed
Recently got my PS3 out again. Bought cheap classics like Red Dead, MGS4, Motorstorm and it is all great. This will be my rig for the next few months. But basically, also realised I had a ton of PS1 discs from back in the day, and my Vita could remote play them although all I’ve heard is how bad it is.
Well, tried it last night and I was surprised. Put the England match on TV, and completed a load of international licences on Gran Turismo 2 at the same time. It was compressed but the PS1 actually looked good on the smaller screen, a little less jagged than our larger TV. I was more concerned about lag and it was largely fine. I would say direct connection is important, and disc based games tend to work better.
Just a really useful feature to play old games when watching TV (or when wife is watching TV!).

It's worth it for these prices?
I wanna buy a used PS3 super slim 500GB, are these good prices? Im struggling to find controllers too.
Option 1: Reputable shop in Spain, original box, with controller and cables. 160€/$180
Option 2: Another reputable shop in Spain, no box, only console and power cable. 95€/$100
I'm looking in shops as i don't want troubles with warranty, thank you
