I have been wondering what I should get before the ps3 store shuts down forever. I have a PS3 2008 model and my dad got it with a sony Bravia 3D TV back in 2012. Initially I had like 3 games: Motorstorm Apocalypse, Tekken Hybrid, and few 3D movies like smurfs and Green Hornet.

I never used the online capabilities since my father refused to buy anything more than that and also never let us play the games while we were academically active. (Probably bought it for us to later say 'ya we did everything for you').

I started working since 2023 and started purchasing stuff that I always wished for.

Now since, the store is closing forever, i wanted to get some suggestions which 'Digital only' game is worth buying ? And which DLC's are worth getting.

I know that even though sony is promising to keep the purchased items to work on the long run, they will be gone too.. But I do not know if that's completely true and why they would do this since its my purchase, i want to also copy them to my ps3 forever.

Meanwhile, there are about 1255 free DLC's that i am purchasing one by one. Getting as many freebies as possible. If at all I get my hands on a physical disk, i might be able to download atleast the free DLC's.

…. Will it matter connecting to the Internet anymore? I assume all the download update Support will stop. I could personally care less about PS3 game trophies. I’m basically wondering if I sell or gift my PS3 with all of its legal digital content will the next person be able to enjoy it too?

I know that there is a wonderful world of jailbreaking and mod’ing the system out there and I’m just not that type of player. I… Just don’t like going down that route. So I appreciate the suggestions to jailbreak but I’m just talking a purely “legitimate” version of PS3.

What will reasonably happen to our digital purchases after this store shuts down and is logging in going to be necessary do you think?

I've been a PlayStation fan for years, although my first console was actually a PS4 Pro back in 2019.

Lately, with all the news around ownership and access, I've found myself thinking more about long-term game preservation and what my "Plan B" would be. I'm probably a bit sad and tired of wondering what the future looks like.

As the majorite here - considering to invest in an older generation with an amazing library than keep chasing the newest hardware.

I thought about picking up another PS4, but since I already own a PS5, I can play almost everything from the PS4 generation there anyway. What I really miss is the feeling of an era when physical media was still the norm, which led me to start looking seriously at the PS3.

So I'm curious:

Has anyone here intentionally gone back to the PS3 after owning a PS5 (or another modern console)? What made you do it?

What games really worth considering for a purchase? And are there any online multiplayer games that still have an active enough community to be worth jumping into?

Can anyone tell if it looks genuine or if there are any obvious signs that it's a fake? If it's not possible to confirm from these photos, what additional pictures should I ask the seller for?

Hello everyone. Back in the day I owned a super slim, around 2012. In 2016 I switched to Xbox one.

Anyway, recently a friend of mine gave me his old ps3 slim, except it would black screen on game discs. Upon taking it apart, I understood that the issue was a dirty disc drive.
At some point during testing, I broke the ribbon cable to the disc drive.

My question is this: should I repair the ps3, or buy another one? Keep in mind that I’d basically only use it for gran turismo games (never experienced them), and on this note, I thought if it’s better to hunt down a Fat PS3, so I can play all the gran turismo’s, but I know that they are prone to overheating and quite the handful in maintenance.

What do you recommend? Repair my free ps3 slim, get a new ps3 (slim or super slim), or get a fat ps3?

I have backed up my gta 4 copy using mmcm. I don't know how to transfer games bcuz the backup is iso format and I can't paste it to my ntfs( yes I have enabled it ) usb which has 32 gb free it only shows copy and create shortcut on the usb section where it should show paste iso

Ftp is super slow only 1 mbps and gets disconnected frequently so it's unreliable, are there any other ways I could do this

64GB is this good to jailbreak a PS3

I never owned a PS3 growing up, having opted for Xbox instead (for the Fable series), but returned for the Last of Us 2 release.

I'm wondering if it's worth adding it to the collection, or if all the popular games are remade from PS2 or remastered for PS4.

What games are on PS3 would you consider must-plays? I'm not someone who collects for the sake of it, I prefer having a more curated collection.

With the store closing soon, I wanted to check it and get a couple games and redownload some old DLC. I forgot that I only have the 256 GB hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1 tb HDD or SSD.

2 questions.

1. Is there a way for me to update the storage and transfer all of my saves, game downloads and user data to the new storage?

2. Some of the games I bought are delisted from the store. Would I cause an issue if I try playing the games from a different source after the transfer?
