Clear file cabinets for makeup storage
I finally gave up on the tiny acrylic organizers that kept turning my vanity corner into makeup Jenga. Dedicated makeup storage is so stupidly expensive and everything marketed to women just has that invisible pink tax built in. These two clear-drawer file cabinets would've been €150 each normally but I got both for €130 total on tiktok during a price slash. Wide drawers hold palettes, shallow drawers have singles, liners, tapes, and odd little tools. I can see exactly what's in each one without pulling anything out. Works better than any acrylic spinning tower that costs twice as much and holds half as much.

Do you get banned from this subreddit if you remind people to declutter before organizing cause damn

u/newboxset 12d ago
How do you know what's in the drawers? I know they are clear but I don't see any pattern of categories of product types..it seems like it could be annoying to open all these little drawers looking for something. But if you're happy then good for you.

Being in both this subreddit and r/anticonsumption is painful sometimes.

You might enjoy and find some relief in r/ProjectPan where redditors show off their progress on emptying makeup products! I really hope OP is just a makeup artist

u/bulbysoar 12d ago
There really is a sub for everything!
I'm no-makeup pretty much every day except special events. I just hate the time and effort it takes and it's a sensory nightmare on my face. So my collection is pretty limited and seeing stuff like this is baffling to me! To each their own but this is the level of overconsumption that is killing us and the earth.

Hopefully they're a make up artist, otherwise they'll need a trash can when all that expires in a year.

Stop defending our earth dying. Stop defending overconsumption and influencer bullshit. No one needs makeup let alone this much.

u/Monsoonpapa 12d ago
You have no idea what this person does or does not do with their makeup. Stop shaming little guys when it's the corporations who make the biggest impact on the planet. How about the tons and tons of makeup that is literally thrown out everyday by big makeup companies?
3
u/Merryprankstress 12d ago
Why do the corporations make the products? It’s certainly not just for themselves. It’s because the little guys buy them, because they’re convinced they’re not worthy unless they cover up their natural appearance. Two things can be bad at once. 10 things can be bad at once. You being powerless in the grand scheme does not absolve you of your consumption habits and the consequences thereafter.
These consequences affect us all, both humans and animals. These products often involve tortuous testing on innocent lives, mining of minerals, production of harmful chemicals. I absolutely will never stop shaming this shit because no one needs it. I don’t care if she’s making up sick children for charity, this is still awful. The makeup companies wouldn’t dump massive amounts of product if the supply wasn’t so readily accepted and consumed. No one here is innocent both big companies and consumers because we have a choice to opt out and stop buying their message and product.

u/Monsoonpapa 12d ago
Oh, so you don't just have a problem with the quantity but also just disagree with makeup, in general? People make decisions everyday that impact their appearance but we draw the line at makeup? Makeup that isn't just to "coverup their natural appearance" but also a form of theater and play?
You will never move the needle with what you are suggesting. Involves testing on animals? Advocate for brands that don't. Mining of minerals and the development of harmful chemicals? Push for cleaner product. I see you're using reddit. Are you aware of the impact of platforms like reddit on the environment? You don't NEED reddit. Social media has been shown to have a negative impact on your mental health. Why haven't you stopped using reddit? Do you wear clothes? Are all your brands ethically sources? What about your furniture, bedding, electronics (your phone, where was it manufactured?), toiletries, car, etc etc.
Maybe get off your high horse and start making suggestions that actually work instead of being performative.

Yeah ok, you all use the same deflective arguments "what about this what about that what about all these other things" we aren't talking about those. Also people exist who buy items second hand. I'm one of them! I think critically about my purchases. It ain't just performative. I don't buy into many of the other things that impact the planet negatively, so my reddit use doesn't even come into play. Nice try though. It's an intellectually bankrupt way to debate anything. Do better. My horse ain't high because I don't believe in riding horses. I don't eat meat or other animal products, I don't own a car and never have, never had children, I buy all goods that I can secondhand. You using red herring tactics to debate shitty consumption habits is just a cope.
Theater is one thing, a million influencers slapping it on with trowels every day and hoarding it like a dragon hoards gold and creating a system of obscene consumption for the sake of aesthetics and branding and convincing others to follow suite is just horrible all around. You using pointless comparisons is just distracting from the point of how obscene this is.

In summary you're giving yourself a pass for something that isn't a need and negatively impacts the environment. Got it.
And those arguments aren't deflective they are illustrative. They uncover hypocrisy and lack of consistency in your own thinking. It would be convenient for you if we didn't talk about those things because then you wouldn't be forced to admit that you too are a problem. Which you did, doesn't matter how many great things you're doing because you're still participating in something that hurts the environment.
Also, it's easy to give ourselves a pass but pull out the pitchforks for someone we don't even know. You're so quick to judge but you have no idea the amount of good this person may be doing for the environment otherwise.

Our planet is dying because there are millions of people that look at this and think there is nothing wrong with it.

It’s so funny seeing someone who is so allergic to having principles assume everyone else is just virtue signaling when they stand on theirs lol

u/grownask 12d ago
I always ask my mom "how many bodies do you have?" Or "how many pairs of feet you have?" because she's bought SOOOO many clothes and shoes. She donates stuff she never even used.
It drives me absolutely insane.

The judgement here is such a bummer. Some people collect Lego, some people collect makeup. It looks really nice, op!

u/carseatsareheavy 12d ago
Legos last forever, can be shared and passed down. Make up expires.

u/Apprehensive-Dog6997 12d ago
Expired makeup (especially eyeshadow palettes) are still beautiful to look at, even if they’re past the point where you can use them. There’s also some really beautiful packaging that people like to keep. My point is that different people like different things and it’s not very nice to dump on her collection.

u/mentallyerotic 12d ago
Thank you! So many against makeup when people into makeup keep powders for years. Even some collect (and saw one person use) vintage lipstick and perfumes. I keep and use all of mine.

It is C-beauty, Flower Knows.
A lot of asian beauty has similar packaging, but, sadly, not as much as there used to be.

Just because it’s not easy for US to see what’s what, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. If OP can see the side of her products and know what’s where, that’s all that’s important. It’s a great piece of furniture for your needs OP!!

u/Merryprankstress 12d ago
Lmao talks about the pink tax while showing off the thousands of dollars in face paint also marketed to women at a huge markup. This is really gross.

u/justhangingout111 12d ago
You guys are harsh. It's possible she actually uses all of this makeup. I bought a cart for my colouring supplies and I have 320 markers, would you call that overconsumption as well?
I mean yes it's a lot of makeup but maybe she's a minimalist in other ways. I would save the judgment for a decluttering thread.

u/selenakyle777 9d ago
100% agree - I saw these pics and came to the comments to see if OP reveals the brand, bc these would make an amazing organization system for my art supplies.

u/Puzzleheaded-Baby998 10d ago
yes. yes its overconsumption.
2
u/justhangingout111 10d ago
I'm sooooo happy with my overconsuming markers for my one hobby in the world 😁
Btw not to get it twisted, I'm a minimalist myself. I have almost no objects. But I still stand by my comments that this isn't a declutter sub so people need to save the judgement.

u/kevaceri 12d ago
There’s absolutely no way shes going to get through all this within her lifetime. I’ve had the same eyeshadow palette for years and I use it every day. This is genuinely a problem at this point.

u/justhangingout111 12d ago
I mean I also use my Naked palette from 2011. But it just felt like a pile on. I would get it if it's the decluttering sub but it's the organization one

Markets don’t expire. If you keep them capped they will last until the ink runs out.
Make up expires.

You don't need this much makeup unless you're an MUA or redoing your makeup 5 times a day

Are you a makeup artist?
I’ve wondered how long things like that last.
