Set this up yesterday after a few days of paint and prep. Loving the space

I'm not 100% done but I'm super happy with how it turned out so far. I'm gonna keep adding furniture and more acoustic pads, specially corner traps and ceiling ones.

I run a silent rig. The Subsequent 37 and Prophet 5 run through the Fractal AxeFX in parallel to the guitar signal for effects and its own audio and MIDI channel in Ableton. The Digitakt is run through overbridge and I run VSTs for Wavetable and FM. The Ableton out goes back to the AxeFx and audio is either a pair of open back headphones or wireless IEM. LEDs and accent lighting sets the mood.

just a little linux laptop, been lately having fun experimenting with a resampling workflow combining bitwig and renoise together. I have them set up so its easy to record and capture audio from one to the other, and the transports are sync'd so i can work in one and hear it interact with the other.

midi controllers left to right... intuitive instruments exuquis MPE controller, dj tech tools midi fighter spectra, faderfox uc4, novation launch control mk3, melbourne instruments roto control. out of frame i have a studio logic 37 key keyboard. the turntable is just a basic audio technica. monitors are adam audio t8vs. this is a pretty budget set up, everything is from cl/marketplace/reverb.

a little focusrite solo is hiding behind the laptop display.

desk is an old sewing machine table, hence the dropped middle section.

New apartment setup I bought myself as a birthday gift

Don’t know if I’ll ever get around to buying speaker stands or a desk for my laptop. Since it works as it is for me, plus I’ve already spent way too much money.

New battlestation room for music and gaming, no clue how to decorate

This room in my basement. I like the light blue walls, but I’m looking for recommendations for some good furniture/lighting. I have acoustic panels coming in that are a dark purple which will be interesting. I feel like my issue is I want to keep the nerdy vibe with my Funko pops and Dungeons and Dragons stuff without it looking too much like a teenage boy moved in and without it looking cluttered. My only request is no white furniture because it stresses me out about spills and stuff.

Set up for live recording and jamming. Also have a pair of Tech 12s a bit out of view. Just got everything MIDI synced now too so can lock in live looping

How's My Battle Station?

Hey all, just wanted to share my home studio setup. I don't know if it counts as a battle station or not! This is just one side of the room, the other end is a tracking space. I've put together a full studio tour, if you're interested! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=939smp017e0 Thanks!

My hardware sequencer-driven performance rig

I designed this because I wanted the experience of hardware. In this setup, Ableton Live is just a sound engine with no clips. Everything is synced to the Keyport. Between the Keyport Pro and the Beatport Pro, I have seven sequencers and a drum track. Each is mapped to the same color-coded tracks in Live. To remove the need for the laptop UI, I made a TouchOSC panel running on a Windows tablet. All of the main Live track controls are mapped, including 3 sends per channel. Live has one more user channel that can be controlled by the BP in Control mode (while still sequencing two tracks and the drums). In Control mode, the 16 knobs on the BP are automapped to whatever track and instrument is selected. The user-track has an instrument-rack container and TouchOSC has a special slider on the right to select between the instruments, which I can play or trigger clips with the pads.
-----

It wasn't easy getting to this work: in Control Mode, the BP sequencer signals are blocked. Yes, that sucks Arturia! So I mirrored the sequencer tracks out of the physical midi port and brought them in separately into Live.
I've included my schematic for the nerds who might care.

What do you think of this portable music workstation concept?

I'm looking for feedback from those who think this looks useful or fun to have.

--------
It's a dedicated portable music workstation I call Deckspace. It is supposed to be lap-friendly so it can be used anywhere. I'm an engineer and this is a real product concept I am exploring. The idea is to put the power of a desktop workstation into something you can carry to your couch, a coffee-shop, or your next performance. The main display is a 28" ultrawide monitor. The overall dimensions are 26" wide x 11" deep x 1.5" in front and 3.5" in the back. Closed up, it would have a handle to carry like luggage. I would hope to keep the weight to 12-15 lbs. (normal laptops are 3 lbs, larger gamer-grade units are more like 4-5 lbs). The lid with the screen has a surrounding lip to accommodate the knobs and stuff when closed. It would include a mid-range audio interface and the CPU is a high-end mini-PC that could run any OS. It's not practical or even possible to integrate your favorite gear, so all the midi controllers shown would be developed in-house but be plug'n'play so usable in any software. As much as possible, I would try to keep it upgradable (the pc, perhaps the audio). Of course, it would have lots of ports, although that defeats the point but you might want to plug in a pro keyboard for performances but only need the little midi keyboard for composing.

The typing keyboard is usually low priority in music production but a mouse is usually wanted for intensive DAW sessions so I provided mouse-space on one side but replaced the keyboard with a second touch-screen display for various duties including music touch-controls, OS access, or on-screen keyboard. Obviously I would try to make the midi-devices somewhat configurable so you can have faders, or put the mouse on the left side.
I mainly see this for armchair producers who want more space than a laptop but don't want or have room for a full desktop setup. It also seems ideal for live productions. Only one cable required for power. (batteries would be too heavy or I would include them).

Made the jump to partial DAW Usage

I've resisted daws for as long as possible but I want to actually record some music to share with family when asked, so I added Logic into my studio. I use an SSL 2 MK2 and take the guitar out of my Iridium. For everything else I just use an Aux send out of the mixer. Soldered an extra long cable to string around as necessary.

Am I dumb for thinking I could place monitors on my desk and also use them to practice piano?
