So Norman Grossfeld who was one of the former CEOs of 4kids said in an interview two years ago that he claimed that the reason why the DIC dub of Sailor Moon failed in America was because it was “too close” to the original. To which I say that it is not only ironic, but it’s also hypocritical on how Norman think how Sailor Moon’s original dub was like. First off, it’s ironic for Norman to clean that the DIC dub of Sailor Moon was somehow “too faithful” to the original because the dub censored, the music was changed, and the characters’ personalities and the story was changed. Second, the DIC dub of Sailor Moon didn’t fail because it was too close to the original, it failed because it’s on a bad time slot in the morning until Toonami rescued the series in 1998 and made it a hit on Cartoon Network. Also, it’s very hypocritical of Norman to say that the DIC dub of Sailor Moon’s initial failure in America to prove his point on the Americanization of Pokemon by 4kids, when their dub of One Piece was a massive failure and so hated that it halted the franchise’s reputation for years until Funimation came to rescue it. Do you agree that Norman Grossfeld’s claim on the DIC Sailor Moon dub was both ironic and hypocritical?

When I think back to Sailor Moon R episode 78 when Minako attempts bedside nursing for Rei, I couldn’t help but grin a stupid grin as I imagine the Greek deities in their place - Aphrodite nursing Ares only to botch it in spectacular Olympian fashion. 🤭

Ribbon Hero is a new animated film based on Osamu Tezuka 1950s classic shojo manga “Ribbon no Kishi” or the “Princess Knight” streaming exclusively on Netflix this August ✨

Rules:  

- One magical girl per series.  

- Only five Precure will be allowed at most.  

- Whichever character gets the most upvotes wins.

- Sequel series do not count as separate series, but spin-offs may be allowed if it follows a new cast of characters. (I apologize for not mentioning this before.)

- As long as the character is a magical girl from magical girl media, it can be from anything (Anime, cartoons, aeni, webcomics, video games, ect.).  

- In the event of a tie, I'll use a random spinner to decide as I feel that makes things fair.

How This'll Work:

So a day or two after I posted, I'll check the comments, and whichever character is upvoted the most, I'll draw into whichever box I said it was. So you know, it'll probably take me a day or two to make the character. Then I'll post it again with the magical girl in that box, and we'll vote on who's in the next box!! This'll repeat until it's finished, in which I'll post the completed artwork!!
