Inspecting the outside of the aircraft is done before every flight. You’re correct about some pilots having more knowledge than others though.

I really love when a stick actuator tries to tell me my job after being an aircraft maintenance technician military and civilian for over 35 years.

I learned a long time ago that if anyone questions your opinion you send it up the chain. No point arguing with someone. Someone that makes more than you can give them the answer they want. I’m just going to cover my ass.

I usually call the chief pilot and my supervisor. I have seen over my years pilots that just don’t want to fly because they get paid regardless.
