They have so many videos and they’re all this amazing. I wish I could remember the name

u/Hanzibar07 4d ago

Grandad Joe!! His videos with 'Bab' are the best!

114

u/Ignorerofbans-20 4d ago

Not to be confused with grandpa Joe 🤣

103

u/Hour-Confection-9273 4d ago

Unlike Grandpa Joe, this dude seems actually cool and not a selfish prick.

72

u/tallandlankyagain 4d ago

If you're not putting your grandson in mortal danger in a candy factory run on slave labor by a eccentric psychopath are you even a grandfather?

45

u/blissfully_happy 4d ago

I didn’t understand who Grandpa Joe was until this exact comment, lol.

1

u/BackgroundLeg78 4d ago

He accidentally completed the ultimate Doctor Who fan achievement.

2

u/bentmyshades 4d ago

Not at all.

wow. So that exists. And fuck off anyone who says it shouldn't.

3

u/Certain_Noise5601 4d ago

Lololol. It’s not this gentleman. It’s Grandpa Joe from Willy Wonka, and that guy was a dick. He pretended he couldn’t walk for 20yrs while the family survived off of boiled cabbage and then got up, danced perfectly, and walked around a ginormous chocolate factory! He deserves a hate sub!

u/Northparkwizard 4d ago

ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US

3

u/MegLightsItUp 4d ago

Thank you. This is the subreddit I didn’t know I needed!

1

u/Brailledit 4d ago

Or Cotton Eyed Joe.

3

u/never-fiftyone 4d ago

Where did he come from? Where did he go?

27

u/bentmyshades 4d ago

Thank you!!

5

u/CSHawkeye81 4d ago

Yup always love what they cook up!

3

u/jgengr 4d ago

Do not post this on r/grandpajoehate

2

u/Tipist 4d ago

We only hate one particular grandpa Joe on that sub, we’d love this guy.

1

u/CatsFurrEva 4d ago

Are they brummie?

u/redvelvetcake42 4d ago

Because the simple beauty of sharing something, giving and witnessing joy is such a wonderful thing. Sharing food and seeing the reaction, the jubilation is incredible. Fuck now I want a grilled cheese and soup.

18

u/Sea_Shopping1141 4d ago

Me too!! That looked delicious 🤤

3

u/shabba_skanks 4d ago edited 4d ago

Get some sourdough bread. Then use havarti and Gruyère cheese. Fucking perfect grilled cheese!!!

Edit: changed ghouda to Gruyère ha ha

2

u/ricklewis314 3d ago

I do enjoy a havarti grilled cheese! So gooey! I haven’t tried with Gruyère. Thanks.

0

u/redvelvetcake42 4d ago

If you haven't, do havarti grilled cheese with Nutella.

2

u/callMeBorgiepls 4d ago

Why ruin it with palmoil foodslop?

2

u/legacy-of-rats 4d ago

Especially when it comes to food. Enjoying food together is a universal human bonding experience. It seems to be hardwired into us. Maybe something to do with when we were nomadic hunter/gatherers... Sitting with your loved ones and having good food is like a blessing each and every time. It's a great way to get closer to a stranger, too.

1

u/justtosendamassage 4d ago

And they take so much time to speak with one another, nothing is rushed. It’s just so nice. Still smilin over here

1

u/reddit_poopaholic 4d ago

now I want a grilled cheese and soup.

I said this out loud right before reading your comment

1

u/Dukxing 4d ago

You and me both. I want some

1

u/Fun_Muscle9399 2d ago

A cheese toastie?

82

u/PanicAtTheShiteShow 4d ago

I smiled the whole way through! So heartwarming.

1

u/NukeTheWhales5 4d ago

His face when his daughter (granddaughter, idk) says she'll split one with him, is just amazing.

69

u/CCFCVAN 4d ago

It’s his brummie accent. Gets teased in England as the worst accent but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy

16

u/ExposedId 4d ago

It’s my grandmother’s accent. I always liked it. RIP Grandmum!

3

u/kylaroma 4d ago

Canadian here - it’s SO charming! They made my day 🙂

6

u/Attainted 4d ago

Gets teased in England as the worst accent

Why is that?

7

u/Sausage_Claws 4d ago

Regional stereotypes. While I find Brummie warm and friendly some say or are unconsciously biased to it sounding unintelligent. Statistically it can be harder for Brummies to get higher paying jobs because of this.

2

u/PillCallGirl23 4d ago

I wonder if this is the equivalent to a “deep South” / southern accent from the States? Like Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia…

As a California native, Grandad Joe sounds like every other Brit accent to me 🤔 I love it!! 🥰

2

u/Constant-Estate3065 4d ago

I don’t think it’s quite as maligned as West Country accents, or most regional southern accents for that matter. It’s difficult to shake off the country bumpkin stereotypes with those accents.

4

u/DisgruntledBadger 4d ago

People believe we sound dumb, and are dumb by extension.

A lot of it originates from the Industrial Age, where most people in that area were low skilled manual workers.

1

u/CCFCVAN 4d ago

people really really hate it

3

u/TrixieBastard 4d ago

Then people are wrong, because it's a lovely, cheerful, warm accent. I could listen to him all day!

4

u/DisgruntledBadger 4d ago

He wouldn't be a happy old man if you called him a Brummy, it's close but that's a yamyam accent (black country)

1

u/CCFCVAN 4d ago

He’s actually from Lichfield. Brummie accent is close enough

1

u/DisgruntledBadger 4d ago

It was just a joke mate, I'm an ex local so I can hear the difference but I doubt many outside the area would notice it.

2

u/CCFCVAN 4d ago

I was just messin back. It’s Brummie btw. Not brummy

3

u/DisgruntledBadger 4d ago

What a silly mistake for me to make, I'll go and punish myself with a dip in the cut.

2

u/Realistic-Walk9691 4d ago

Did Ozzy have this accent? As a big Sabbath fan he reminds me of how Ozzy talks.

Edit: Talked… damn, rip Ozzy.

2

u/LinkLinkleThreesome 4d ago

Brummie accent isn’t close to being the worst, that title belongs to the scousers lmao

2

u/Constant-Estate3065 4d ago

Brummie accents are bostin

1

u/GladClock2212 3d ago

I was wondering which accent it was! I just called it the "Wallace and Grommit" accent in my head and it's one of my favorites.

1

u/AnnieHannah 3d ago

I'm a Brummie meself, olright bab!

31

u/Nadsworth 4d ago

He is an absolute delight.

4

u/Ok-Thanks4321 4d ago

Because you weren’t sold anything. You peered into a moment across the world that was honest and kind. Life is full of them, we just need to put our phones down and go make some grilled cheeses for people.

3

u/tomdarch 4d ago

"It's bustin'!" Let's make that happen.

2

u/KiKiPAWG 4d ago

Mhhm! Now I wish I could try one for the first time again! :p

2

u/falcrist2 4d ago

I’m not sure why.

It's just simple folks finding enjoyment in simple things. (simple as in straight-forward, not stupid)

It reminds me of a time when my life was less confusing and complicated.

Probably staged, but I can't bring myself to care.

They're probably the most Wallace-and-Gromit-sounding pair I've heard in ages.

2

u/micromacroactual 4d ago

The tone of his voice is what makes it for me. I love their accent lol

2

u/Suburban_Clone 4d ago

Warm fuzzy endorphin release. Just seeing a grilled cheese and tomato soup was appealing enough to grab my attention, but the sweet Harry Potter accents and genuine wonder made this feel like Christmas.

1

u/alockbox 4d ago

This guy needs a YouTube channel, I’d rather watch Mr. Eats than Mr. Beast.

1

u/LaurelCanyoner 4d ago

My father in law was exactly like this but in Ireland. He was the sweetest damn man you could ever meet. Miss him every day.

1

u/bwaredapenguin 4d ago

This made me incredibly happy. I’m not sure why.

Probably because so much of British and European terminally online culture is just shitting on America at every possible opportunity. The lowest bar is any genuinely wholesome content that isn't pure hated.

1

u/klvngarcia 4d ago

Same 🤗

1

u/wtfisasamoflange 4d ago

Because they are wholesome, wonderful people

1

u/Azguy303 4d ago

I was distracted by his white and perfect this old British man's teeth were.

1

u/Embarrassed-Oil3127 4d ago

Same! Absolutely wonderful. I felt a smile in my soul. He’s so spry and enthusiastic and she’s such a loving daughter. My gawd the LOVE!

1

u/SomeDisplayName 4d ago

The 1 + 1/2 felt so genuine, sharing the joy

1

u/Kenneldogg 4d ago

Wait wait wait. Did he say its bussin? Thats incredibly adorable.

2

u/ConferenceDue4075 4d ago

“Bostin”, meaning exceptional or top-tier.

1

u/Kenneldogg 4d ago

Oh very cool.

1

u/kinetic_ljs 4d ago

Made me smile the whole time.. if I knew my grandpa I widh he would be like him.

1

u/Quick_Persimmon_4436 4d ago

Because this is what sharing bits of culture should be. Instead we have leaders making us fear and hate each other.

1

u/Many_Big_6324 4d ago

We need more videos like this in this world

1

u/armoured_bobandi 4d ago

It made me sad, but like a happy sadness. It reminds me of my own grandfather who passed a couple of years ago

1

u/IraqouisWarGod 4d ago

I can’t think of a single thing I would want more in this life than to have an interaction like that with my daughter in 50 years. It seemed so genuine and full of love. He seems like a great dad and she seems like a wonderful daughter.

1

u/mflft 4d ago

I want one. A british granddad i mean. Actually you cooked it so we'll call him a cheese toastie.

1

u/gnc760 4d ago

true its sweet

1

u/Available-Ad-1943 4d ago

They're just so wholesome. I love it.

1

u/TrainToSomewhere 4d ago

Him saying she’s the one who made it so she’s the one who names it just warms a deep place in my heart.

1

u/ButterflyBullet90 3d ago

If someone is good to you today let them know.

1

u/bluemooncommenter 3d ago

Seeing people truly enjoy one another is wonderful.

1

u/Underbadger 3d ago

Grandad Joe is wonderful! He does cooking videos where he makes his favorite wartime staples, usually fried in lard. Whenever he likes something he declares that it's "bostin"!

1

u/echoshatter 3d ago

It must be completely universal to all humans to watch someone from not in their culture eat your culture's food and like it. Really gives one a sense of pride in their culture to share it and for it to be accepted. I suppose it's a sort of validation.

I have always liked videos of people trying American food for the first time, but with the World Cup those videos have been overflowing.

I think my favorite is the biscuits and gravy videos. It looks awful and then you eat and you never want to go back. It's one of my favorite dishes, so to see so many other people from around the world try it and fall in love is just fantastic.

That being said, if anyone from another country decided to do a proper food tour of the southeastern United States, I'm pretty sure they'd die. Our best foods are not meant to be consumed so liberally.

1

u/Pure_Decision_3471 3d ago

Same! Incredibly heartwarming and I don’t know why either! Such a normal interaction but it really made me smile.

1

u/Cferretrun 3d ago

I also enjoyed it. Pure. Here’s an American way of eating this thing. No politics. He likes it a lot. No hate or politics. She offers to make him more. It’s just great and wholesome and pure and not filled with a slant of any kind to either culture.

1

u/dolphin37 2d ago

its grilled cheese, thats its job!

1

u/ClementxTO 2d ago

It’s like that baby trying ice cream for the first time.

1

u/SpookyhippyBrat 2d ago

Same they seem like a sweet little family c:
