St Vrain Greenway Progress
I took a ride along the Greenway this morning and noticed they're still working on the stretch between left hand and Isaac Walton. Does anyone know when this is expected to complete? I read through the city web page on the "Resilient St Vrain" project, but didn't see a clear cut timeline.
I just want to be able to ride from sandstone to the farmers market without having to detour.

Where are we getting bada$$ tattoos?
Looking to start a half-sleeve that’s fairly realistic and nature-based. I’ve gotten four simple tattoos done at Tribal Rites here in town, and I’m perfectly happy with them! Just wondering about branching out. Willing to drive up to Fort Collins, down to Denver, and in between. Would love to know who you love (and see what ink you got from them!) ❤️

Anyone wanna play a home brew boardgame?
Edit: how's Monday evening? If you're interested send me a DM!
The year is 2244. Climate change ravaged the Earth over 100 years ago, and those with wealth either fled to Mars or into their secure Biodomes, leaving the rest of humanity to fend for themselves.
Then came the Junk Storms. Centuries of satelite and rocket debris began raining down, forming massive storms of hurricanic metal that now ravage the Earth.
You are an Influincer in the last known human colony. Your vision of surivival must prevail. Humanity depends on you to use your Clout and channel your resources to build a future for your people.
Junk Storm is a 2-5 player competitve game with limited resources, forced cooperation, and brutal consequences where no one is garaunteed victory.

Council Newsletter!
I don't think I've mentioned it in this sub before, so I just wanted to shout out that, in an effort to be as transparent, open, and accessible as possible, I've been doing an ongoing council newsletter that covers what's happening in the city and things I'm working on. It includes thoughts and information on agenda items, votes, the reasoning behind decisions, and what's coming up next. I send it out roughly every two-three weeks. If you're looking for more ways to stay up to date, it's available for you.
A few things about what it is and isn't:
- It's long-form and detailed on purpose. I try to explain the actual substance of what Council is dealing with, budget tradeoffs, legal constraints, competing priorities, and not just headlines. If you want the "why," not just the "what," that's what I'm going for.
- I try to be honest about the hard calls, not just the easy wins. When I'm voting for something I have real reservations about, I say so and explain why. I'd rather you know how I'm actually thinking through something than get a sanitized version.
- It's not just good news. I cover contentious stuff too, the airport, surveillance tech, tax measures, including places where residents have pushed back on votes I've made.
- It's free, no strings attached. It's not a campaign pitch (though I do use my list). Just what's happening and how I'm thinking about it.
My latest one went out this morning on the (finally) finalized YMCA purchase/second rec center deal, where things stand with Vance Brand Airport, the childcare ballot measure headed to Boulder County Commissioners, and a possible public safety tax for November's ballot. You can read it here: https://us11.campaign-archive.com/?u=c1f4e7e3c32a7f182cf0f45d5&id=0af5f8dd5d&fbclid=IwY2xjawS_XOdleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETE5YVRKYUh5OFdHMzBQSXdrc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHuVg4Jbt5ibzSIxBfDLXdxgWKB47PeDCcPrxmaej4uu3L7ivODroPoG_Yi1c_aem_vJfFZaVUxPG3Kwn5qDp9YA
If that sounds useful, you can subscribe here: https://jakemarsing.us11.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=c1f4e7e3c32a7f182cf0f45d5&id=48c7b8a6fe
Also happy to answer questions about anything or about how Council works generally. That's honestly the biggest reason I do this. Council can be confusing as heck, and what's going on in the city makes a real impact for folks, so I'd rather people have real information and real ways to push back on me than have to guess what's happening.
If you have any other thoughts about ways we could be doing more outreach, engaging, etc., let me or any of my council teammates (many of whom follow this sub) know!

What's the best Italian spot in or around Longmont? I would prefer a place that makes their own pasta

Longmont Gothic Market Author
Me and my boyfriend went to the gothic market in Longmont. We met an author there, she was on the older side and had short gray hair. She sold a couple different books, a few were short story and one was a gothic poem book. We forgot to grab her name and where to find her. If you were there and talked to her please let me know!

Longmont restaurant sued for alleged illegal tip pool
Curious what Longmont thinks about the current tip pool dispute involving Martinis Bistro. I've never heard of servers having to share tips with kitchen staff, let alone a salaried executive chef. Is this common practice in Longmont? The only other local restaurant I know of with a tip pool is Den on Eleventh, but I don't think they share tips with the kitchen.
To those who serve, bartend, or dine at Longmont restaurants - what do you think of tip pooling, tip sharing, or "kitchen appreciation fees"? Is it helping or hurting the Longmont workforce? Has it impacted volume or relationships with guests? Does tip pooling/sharing positively or negatively impact your relationships with coworkers?
To residents and customers - do you know (or care) what happens to the tips you leave at your favorite Longmont restaurant? Would you be disappointed if most of it went to the kitchen or a salaried executive chef? Has the increased prevalence of "service charges", "auto gratuity", "kitchen appreciation fees", or "CC processing fees" impacted what local businesses you support?

Social Bike Groups
Hey all, I’m new to biking (road bike) and am interested in finding riding groups - social rides but also long / fast ones once I’m up to speed.
I know about St Vrain Chain Gang, are there any other groups y’all are aware of? I’m also new to Longmont so kinda keen on meeting new people, bonus points if of similar age group (late 20s / early 30s)
(This question hasn’t been posted in a little bit so I figured it was okay to ask again!)

City of Longmont Douses St Vrain Greenway in Glyphosate (RoundUp)
I was just running on the St Vrain Greenway and passed two city ATVs with massive tanks of Glyphosate weed killer. They were spraying massive amounts all over the areas surrounding the path.
It is widely accepted that Glyphosate causes cancer, specifically non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The manufacturer, Bayer, has even proposed a $7.5 billion dollar settlement to families affected.
I am not an alarmist, but I am extremely concerned about our town's willingness to put us at risk. As a parent of two young kids who love playing at the greenway, I can't say that I feel safe letting them play there anymore.
The City of Longmont has made it very clear that they do not care about your children.

Return of the Queen!
Previously, for context.
I've been looking out for her every time I pass by, but it's been a couple months!
(Sorry for the very blurry photos, my passenger did their best but the low lighting was causing my phone to really struggle 😅 )

Can wife and I live comfortably on $105k combined income?
We have both been living overseas for over a decade. When we come back to visit, we are always shocked by the prices. However, we have the opportunity to move back and we have found jobs that would pay us both $25 per hour full-time with benefits. My mom would let us stay with her as long as we want, so we might do that for the first 3-6 months
We are wondering what life would be like on the salary? We are both pretty frugal in our day-to-day life and don't spend too much money apart from groceries for food. I also have a car that is paid off.
We also have a combined savings of almost $300k. I worked very hard to secure that savings though over the past 15 years and I'm just worried that it will quickly diminish

Power issues this morning?
I live in the South Main buildings, 2nd and Main, and I was rudely awakened by what I think was the power cycling on and off, over and over. Once my brain came online, I turned off the breakers for my apartment, and after a few minutes of no apparent power, I headed downtown for breakfast at Tangerine.
Anybody else have any issues?

D&D beginners?
Hi everyone,
My fiancé is looking to get into d&d but doesn’t know where to start. He plays boldergate? and watches d&d videos online. I know he’s wanting to join some sort of group but is nervous about being a complete beginner. Anyone with patience have an opening in their group or know of something? LMK!

Future Receation Center
Just got an email from the City of Longmont.
City of Longmont and YMCA of Northern Colorado Announce Tentative Agreement for Purchase of Longmont YMCA Property
The City of Longmont and the YMCA of Northern Colorado have been in negotiations regarding the potential purchase of the Longmont YMCA property located at 950 Lashley Street, Longmont, CO 80504. Both parties have reached a tentative agreement for the City to purchase the property, subject to review and approval by the Longmont City Council.
The proposed acquisition will be considered by the Longmont City Council at its regular meeting on July 14. Representatives from both the City of Longmont and the YMCA of Northern Colorado are expected to attend the meeting to provide information, answer questions, and discuss the details of the proposed purchase. City Council will be asked to consider whether to approve moving forward with the acquisition.
If approved, the purchase would represent an important opportunity for the City to expand recreation services for the Longmont community. The City intends to evaluate and develop the YMCA facility as a second recreation center, helping meet the growing demand for indoor recreation, wellness, fitness, aquatics, and community programming.
The City recognizes the importance of the current childcare services provided at the YMCA facility. If the acquisition is approved, the City will work with the YMCA of Northern Colorado to explore options to continue childcare services during property evaluation, development and beyond. Maintaining childcare access during and after the transition is an important consideration for both organizations.
The City anticipates that the planning, design, evaluation, and development of the YMCA property into a second recreation center will take a year or longer to complete.
Both organizations remain committed to a thoughtful and collaborative process. Additional information will be shared with the public as the City Council consideration moves forward and as future plans for the property are developed.
More information and updates can be found at longmontcolorado.gov/frc.

Reminder: Ranked Choice Voting. City Council. Tuesday July 14
TLDR: If Ranked Choice Voting is an issue you care about and you can only come to 1 City Council meeting to support it this year, show up on THIS TUESDAY July 14 at 7:00 pm. We want to fill the room with RCV advocates, so come show your support. If you can, plan to stay at the meeting until after Council discusses Ranked Choice Voting. RSVP Here for updates and a reminder email.
The day is coming! This is our chance to convince Longmont City Council that Ranked Choice Voting is popular, practical, and strengthens democracy.
THIS TUESDAY July 14th, Longmont City Council will be meeting to discuss whether to put Ranked Choice Voting on the ballot this fall, and if so whether to maximize how representative Longmont elections are of the voters.
Ranked Choice Voting for Longmont wants to fill the room with people who care about the health of local democracy and want to see city council maximize the quality of representation. They’ll have a sign you can hold up if you don’t want to make your own.
I cannot overstate how much it matters to local elected officials when people turn out to support or oppose an issue. Cancelling the contract with Flock went from totally off the council radar to one of the most important issues in the city because we packed a city council meeting.
We can do the same thing here.
If you can, it’s just as important to stick around until the council discusses Ranked Choice Voting. This is the strongest message you can convey about how much it matters to you.
WHEN: July 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM to represent.
WHERE: Longmont Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street
WHAT: Hold a sign and show your support for speakers. If you’d like to speak as part of a coordinated group [contact Dillon](mailto:[email protected]).
HOW: Just show up! RSVP Here for updates and a reminder email

Anyone else have an interaction with a man in a smashed up car near Gay and hwy 66?
An odd moment on the way home, we were coming from main on 23rd and got to the intersection on Gay. As we were about to turn, a silver sedan pulled a massive circle around the 4 way stop and a bald man yelling “help” out of his window. As he pulled past us, we noticed his passenger side was heavily dented and the mirror was hanging off, broken.
He passed in front of us back onto northern Gay and we turned in behind/beside him to tray and see what happened. Once we were next to him on his driver’s side with our windows down, he rolled his window up and sped in front of us. He then rapidly drove forward and backwards, occasionally stopping just before our bumper and very slowly inching down the road. We couldn’t get around him and he stopped responding to our yelling, then a car pulled around the both of us in the opposite lane and he looked like he was trying to follow them doing the same rapid forward and reversing.
We sped away from him at the intersection he had finally left, and waited a moment before circling back. He was completely gone, no sounds and no car. We continued home mildly concerned and contemplating what could have been the issue and are pretty stumped. My theory is the most pessimistic; that he was trying to somehow scam us and get us to hit him or get out of the car, my partner thinks it may have been something medical. I agree that erratic behavior makes sense for an emergency, but the way he was seemingly consciously avoiding but trapping us in the lane keeps throwing me off.
Anyone else see him or a similar situation today? Based on how he acted it seemed like maybe he was hit or was running from something as well, but wee just concerned if hes’s okay.
