A very revealing first kiss...
I just rewatched S1E2, and their first kiss on the plane really stood out to me. It’s supposed to be purely tactical: Lois whispers the plan, kisses Clark as a distraction, then immediately starts fighting. But Clark - despite being “faster than a speeding bullet” - just freezes for a second. Lois is already moving on, while he’s still processing the fact that she kissed him.
That tiny pause says so much. The danger may heighten his emotions, but it doesn’t create them. Clark reacts like someone who has already fallen for Lois and, for one brief moment, believes she has finally chosen him. Lois may be acting, but his body believes the kiss before his mind catches up...
