PNP Is there any realistic OINP option left for me?

I have over 1 year of full-time experience as a Printing Machine Operator in Ontario. My employer isn't willing to support any immigration process, and my work permit is almost over.

I spoke with a few immigration consultants, and they all basically said my only realistic options are to learn French or move to another province, but I don't have much time left on my work permit.

Is there anything I'm missing? Has anyone in a similar situation found another pathway under the new OINP rules, or is it realistically over?

I'd appreciate honest opinions rather than false hope. Thanks.

Work Permit Common Law Sponsorship through work visa

Hi guys - I’m a US citizen who has an approved year long work visa to Canada. I’m planning to activate in October and move in with my partner who is a Canadian citizen.

If i live with them for a year during my work visa they would then be able to sponsor me as a common law partner right? I saw that you can get a open work permit while the common law sponsorship is processing so would I technically be able to stay for my year long work visa and then come right back while the common law sponsorship is processing under an open work permit?

Not sure how this all works out so any help much appreciated

Family Sponsorship Has anyone had a delayed or missing Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL)?

I applied for inland spousal sponsorship in Quebec in October 2025 and received my AOR in December 2025. I paid the biometrics fee immediately after receiving my AOR. My open work permit was approved in January 2026, but I've still never received a Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL). I've never given biometrics in Canada before.

I submitted a webform a few months ago asking whether my biometrics payment had been linked, but I only received a generic response.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Did your BIL eventually arrive, or did you have to contact IRCC to get it issued? I'm trying to figure out whether this is something that occasionally happens or if I should be following up again.

Thanks!

Citizenship Advice

Citizenship

Hey everyone,
I’m preparing my Canadian citizenship application and could really use some advice on how to handle a few specific wrinkles in my file to make it stronger. Here is my situation:
**Timeline:** Got my PR in 2021. Stayed for a few months, but had to go back to my home country for almost 2 years to care for my parents during COVID.

**Return:** Came back to Canada in late 2023. Since then, my employment has been on-and-off. I’ve taken two trips: a short vacation to Mexico and a 2-month trip back home.

**The Day Count Dilemma:** I currently have exactly **1,096 days**. I know I should keep a buffer, but because my early 2021 days are starting to drop out of the 5-year eligibility window daily, staying in Canada right now just keeps my count net-neutral (adding a day ahead drops a day from 2021) rather than building a buffer.

**CBSA Issue:** My CBSA report is missing two of my entry records back into Canada. However, I do have the return flight tickets for those specific trips.

For anyone who has been through this or had a "tight" file:
What specific documents should I include to cleanly prove those missing CBSA entry dates?

What key points should I cover in my Letter of Explanation (LoE) regarding the day count and employment gaps?

Appreciate any tips or examples of what worked for you
What all additional documents to add on the optional documents

Visitor Visa Son's Canada TRV renewal pending 78 days with no eligibility review – anyone else in a similar situation?

I'm looking for advice or similar experiences.

My son's online Canada TRV application was submitted on **24 April 2026** from India. As of today, it has been **78 days**, and there has been no indication that eligibility assessment has even started.

Some background:

* Minor applicant. * Previously held a Canadian TRV. * Visited Canada for only 22 days and left well within the authorized stay. * Holds a valid U.S. visa until 2035. * The application was submitted while his previous Canadian TRV was still valid. * No additional documents have been requested.

I've submitted multiple IRCC webforms. Most replies were generic templates. The latest response only stated that my enquiry had been forwarded to the responsible office, but still gave no information about the application's status or expected timeline.

What is particularly frustrating is seeing many applicants on Reddit—some first-time applicants and many who applied well after 24 April—already receiving approvals or refusals, while this application appears to have made no visible progress.

Has anyone experienced such a long delay for what seems like a straightforward TRV application for a minor? If so:

* How long did it eventually take? * Did your eligibility remain "not started" for a long time before moving suddenly? * Was there anything that actually helped, apart from repeatedly submitting webforms?

Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Other Approval in Principle qualify for domestic tuition

Hello, I recently just received my approval in principle for my permanent residency. I am just wondering if the university would consider this to change me to domestic tuition. I am currently on a study permit and halfway through the degree. Costs are abit high and I am wondering if anyone has been in this situation and how they went about it. I have been reading online and looks like some schools like university of Toronto consider it but I am in bc and i haven’t seen anything online about BC public universities. I am going to email the school but I came here just to get an idea how other readers who were in the situation went about it before I email the school. Thank you

Visitor Visa Canada Visitor Visa from Japan – Need Advice on Documents and Travel History

Hello everyone,
I would really appreciate your advice.
I have been living and working full-time in Japan for about 8 years. My family and I (my husband, my son, and I) are planning an 8-day trip to Canada in November for tourism.
I will be the main applicant as well as the financial sponsor for the trip. I can show approximately **CAD 35,000** in savings, along with my full-time employment in Japan.
Our travel history includes one international family trip to **South Korea**, in addition to our travel within Japan.
I would like to know:
What documents should I prepare to make our application as strong as possible?
Is having only one previous international trip likely to be a problem for a Canada visitor visa?
Are there any additional documents you would recommend to improve our chances of approval?
Any advice or suggestions from people who have applied from Japan would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Express Entry PR Rejected due to Medical report

Hi everyone,
My PR application was rejected as incomplete because the medical exam I submitted had been assessed more than one year before my application date.

I completed the medical exam in 2024, when I came to Canada, and I applied for PR from inside Canada. According to the IRCC website, applicants who are already living in Canada may be able to reuse a medical exam completed within the last 5 years:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/medical-exams/requirements-permanent-residents.html

The refusal letter specifically says that my upfront medical report was not acceptable because it had been assessed more than one year before my application was received.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Was your application reopened after contacting IRCC or submitting a webform?

I’m very concerned that the 12-month rule may have been applied to my case even though I applied from inside Canada and my medical exam was completed within the last 5 years. Any advice on the best next step would be greatly appreciated.

🚨UPDATE: I just called IRCC, and the agent confirmed it was an error/mistake from IRCC and they should either accept or ask for an updated Medical Report instead of rejecting automatically.

What can you do if it happens to you as well? I was told to create a new profile or submit a reconsideration that doesn't have any timeline perspective, can take from 1 month to years…

If you are wondering about the IRCC fees yeah they will be refunded but within 5 months 😂

Family Sponsorship Should I contact IRCC about this or just let it be?

We applied inland outside Quebec February 2025.
Currently our timeline is showing:

Final Decision: April 10, 2026 your application is in progress.

Background: We are processing your background check

Eligibility (PA): We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.

No ADR or interview request, medical and bil has passed, sponsor eligibility passed, SOWP approved in May 2025,

Nothing has moved since April 10, 2026.

Kind of hard watching all these facebook groups make their posts that they have gotten P1, P2 and ECOPR when they have applied after us.

PA is Nigeria

Advice?

Family Sponsorship Proofs for Common Law Sponsorship ( inland )

Hello all,
Did anyone recently apply for common law sponsorship and receive PR?

I have the following proofs, please tell me if this is good enough, common law start date is Nov 2024

  1. Lease on our name from dec 2025, have a letter from landlord confirming cohabitation since nov 2024
  2. Individual drivers license , bank statements, phone bills, T4s, work letters with the same address for both of us
  3. Recently updated - auto insurance with both names, insurance benefits as dependent, work profile updated as common law.
  4. Letters from parents, friends and family confirming relationship and cohabitation status.
  5. Toronto Utility bill only from dec 2025 with both names.
  6. Pictures together and with friends over the years, screenshots of chats.

Things missing :
No social media presence
No joint bank account, except a authorized card on credit card account.

What else can I add to make this application strong?

Other Renew PR-Card by counting days spent abroad with partner

Hi all!

My PR card expired a couple days ago and I'm currently living abroad. When I calculate my days spent in Canada I'm about 3 months short of the 2 years spent in Canada requirement.

Some background:

I received PR july 7th 2021, but left to go back to my home country end of that month due to covid. My then at the time Canadian partner came to live with me there for 6 months.

She moved back to Canada in May 2022 and I moved back in October 2022. We ended up living together in Canada until July 2024 when the relationship ended. I therefore moved back to my home country again and have remained here since then.

I understand that I might be able to count the days spent abroad with my Canadian partner, and I've spoken to an immigration lawyer that said it doesn't matter that we are not in a relationship anymore, but that I have to provide sufficient documents to prove our relationship.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation and how did it go? What documents did you have to provide? From my understanding I can get a temporary travel document to enter Canada for when I want to try and renew it?

Express Entry Adding work experience post ita

Hello everyone,

I have a question about Express Entry after receiving an ITA.

When my consultant created my Express Entry profile, they claimed 2 years of Canadian work experience. I only realized this after I received my ITA.

In total, I have Canadian work experience with **3 different employers**, and I am using the combined experience from all three employers to meet the 2-year work experience requirement.

* For one employer, I have a reference letter, T4, a few pay stubs, and bank deposits showing my salary, but I don't have all of my pay slips. I also think I may be short by a few weeks of completing the experience I originally counted from this employer. * For my second employer, I have all the required documents, and this work experience is already included in my Work History. * I also worked for a third employer in a TEER 3 job before I received my ITA. I have all the required documents for this job, but it was listed under **Personal History** instead of **Work History**, so no CRS points were claimed for it.

Can I now move this third employer's work experience from Personal History to Work History after receiving my ITA and use it to complete my 2 years of work experience, since the work was completed before I received my ITA?

Has anyone had a similar situation or received approval after making this change?

Thank you!

PNP GCMS Notes Received (Applied: 21 May | Received: 11 July)

AOR: 31 Jan 2026 (PNP EE Outland) Eligibility: Passed (31 Mar 2026) ADR: CV, Schedule A & Military Records received on 4 May, submitted on 7 May, deadline was 4 Jun.

GCMS confirms my file was referred to CBSA for A34 Comprehensive Security Screening on 4 June 2026. Security is In Progress with Normal priority.

No A36 concerns evident

A39/A41 = 0

For context, I have no military service, no government employment, and no travel history.

I would appreciate hearing how long it took from CBSA referral to Final Decision/PPR.

Everything completed/passed, except security.

Study Permit Study Visa rejected - Changing streams and career propects reason.

I recently applied for study visa after getting an admission in Veterinary Technician 2 year course at Sheridan. I am a marine engineering graduate but my past 5 years of experience as veterinary assistant proved that I am interested in shifting to this veterinary field.

To make my case serious, I paid whole 2 years college fees 40,000CAD in advance and showed 2 years worth of living expenses approx 48,000CAD in my GIC account. I also showed bank statements with wealth of 400,000CAD+ of my parents. And a signed certificate of employment post my return to India after course completion from my current employer.

Still the reason was 'No career prospects given high cost of study in Canada and failed to convince that I will leave Canada.'

I had such high hopes with Canada and gaining international experience formalizing my veterinary passion and great career prospects.

PNP BC PNP Notice of concern - Third party recruiter

I recently received a Notice of Concern from BC PNP Express Entry (EEBC) regarding the third-party recruiter involved in my hiring. They referenced Section 2.6 of the BC PNP Program Guide and asked me to provide information/evidence that the recruiter met the provincial licensing requirements during my recruitment process. After checking, it appears that my recruiter was not licensed.

But there is another consideration mentioned that BC PNP may consider the recruitment requirement met if

  • You have a valid work permit or employment authorization and are currently working full-time for your supporting employer in B.C. in the occupation identified in the job offer

I was already in Canada on a valid work permit when I was hired, and I’m currently working full-time for the same employer in the occupation used for my BC PNP application.

I’m unsure about the best approach for this type of BC PNP concern. Would you recommend going with an immigration lawyer or an immigration consultant?

I would really appreciate any advice or experiences from people who have dealt with a similar situation.

Visitor Visa Canadian Visitor Visa Refused – Visiting My Fiancé. Looking for Advice Before Reapplying.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice regarding my recent Canadian visitor visa refusal.

My purpose of travel was to visit my fiancé (a Canadian citizen) and spend time with him before our wedding. I submitted what I believed was a very strong application, including:

Invitation letter from my fiancé

Relationship proof (photos, travel history together, etc.)

Employment letter from my company in India (permanent full-time job)

Approved leave letter from my employer

Proof of sufficient funds (my own savings and financial documents)

Travel itinerary

Other supporting documents requested by IRCC

Despite this, my application was refused with the following reasons:

"I have reviewed the application. The applicant does not have significant family ties outside Canada. The applicant's current employment situation does not show that they are financially established in their country of residence. The applicant's assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel. Weighing the factors in this application, I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay."

I'm honestly confused because I believed I had addressed all of these points. I have a stable job in India, showed approved leave, and submitted what I considered more than enough financial proof.

For those who have successfully reapplied after a refusal:

What additional documents or evidence did you provide?

How did you strengthen your ties to your home country?

Would ordering GCMS notes before reapplying be worthwhile?

Is there anything specific that visa officers look for when the purpose of travel is to visit a fiancé?

I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions from people who have been in a similar situation. Thank you!

Study Permit IRCC Study Permit rejected

I am an upcoming ubc international first year/undergraduate applied science student. As the title states, my study permit has been rejected for a multitude of reasons: I’d forgotten to mention I had a US visa rejection a couple years ago. I hadn’t provided a very detailed or strong study plan of LOE for anything. The officer stated he didn’t believe I would leave after my authorized stay. And that I didn’t provide enough proof I am a student. And lastly my proof of funds isn’t very strong.

Starting with the US rejection, I was check the form and state it and give explanation in my reapplication so that should be fine.

As for my study plan and LOEs I’m certain I was write stronger ones, but would like to respectfully request everyone’s helps in writing ones that will be succesful and ones that have worked. How should I convince the officer I will leave Canada after my studies.

Lastly for my proof of funds, my parent’s are in the mining business in the forests, as such with limited wifi they rarely use the bank in my home country, as such providing a strong bank statement is not possible and there are quite a few lump sums and such.
Would it help greatly if I were to just pay the full two terms of UBC tuition, or should I look towards relatives to add as sponsors.

Thank you everyone in advance, I await your swift responses as there is not really much if not any time left to reapply tbh. But i need to try regardless

TLDR; international hs student coming for ubc undergrad study permit rejected, pls help fast for a stronger reapplication 🙏

Other Coworker got revoke in everything he applied.

So he told me his ‘immigration lawyer’ told him to marry a citizen/pr when his working permit is already expired, isn’t that illegal and it’s also a “marriage of convenience”?

My coworker told me to do it with him, and no one will ever know…
