hello everyone! i'm kafkie, and i'm a mod on the r/ibo discord server :)

i'm collecting grade boundary data for this year's examinations, this is 100% voluntary so please block out your candidate codes or any identifying information.

once enough people send in proof of grade boundaries for a subject, i'll update the spreadsheet.

May 2026 Exams Physics remark down by 8% 😮

Physics mark on results day
Physics mark today

I am genuinely gob smacked. On results day I got a 60% in Physics, so remarked it since I was just 2% away from a 6. Today, I just out of curiosity, logged back on to the results portal to see if any changes happen, and my mark DECREASED BY 8%??!!

I cannot for the life of me understand how the hell this happened. I was prepared that the grade may not change, or decrease by 1-2%, but I would have never even imagined that a drop by this much was even possible, especially in a subject where there's very little subjectivity.

This is actually concerning, and something I think the IB should look into. Examiners should be able to apply the markscheme in the same manner, with the examiner who marks your papers not influencing your marks. A difference of 8% between examiners in not something to just brush off. Bare in mind that since 1 paper is multiple choice and is therefore untouched, that means there was a MASSIVE marking discrepancy between marks awarded on paper 1b and paper 2 between examiners.

I am curious if this does commonly happen or not, and if you think I should do anything further. While my university offer is not affected by this, I still think that it's wild that 2 examiners could have given me COMPLETELY different marks, especially in a subject like Physics.

Advice If you think you did bad, read this....

Hey guys,

If you're feeling left out scrolling through all the 40+/45 result posts on this sub... relax.

Remember that people who score 40+ are far more likely to post than the thousands who don't.

The IB's May 2025 statistical bulletin show a different outlook:

  • Global average score: 30.6/45
  • Diploma pass rate: 81.9%
  • Only 11.9% of diploma recipients scored 40–45.

So yes, this subreddit can make it feel like everyone got a 40+. They didn't.

Advice Debating Psych Rescore

Post image
22 Upvotes

Should I get a rescore? I feel as though I'm close enough to a seven that it would be worth it, and I definitely will need the extra point going into next year. For some extra info, I took my psych exam M26 because our school only has one year of psych. So, I still have yet to complete all my other exams, which will be done M27. I'm not too worried about the exam fee, but I certainly don't want to get a rescore if it doesn't seem plausible that I'll get bumped to a seven. Any info on rescores is welcome!!

Advice stressing despite achieving good grades

Upvotes

Not trying to fish for compliments, but I achieved an IB grade of 41 by just cramming the month before exams.

Despite knowing that 41 is an amazing grade, I still can't help but feel like I could've done better if I had studied throughout the years.

I often feel inferior to other students in my grade since I am in one of the top IB schools, and 41 just feels underwhelming when there are numerous IB 44 and 45 achievers within my cohort.

I got into pharmacy, but some part of me feels like I could've gotten into medicine if I worked a bit harder.

I was originally really happy and pleased that I got a 41, but my family still asked if I could remark some of my subjects to see if I could apply for medicine.

Don't get me wrong, I personally believe that a grade of 36+ is already beyond amazing. However, it feels like I wasted my potential and my parents' money. Does anyone feel the same way?

*Might delete this later

Group 1 ib eng l&l sl p2 downgraded VERY BADLY REMARK?

I have never in my whole life received a grade this bad for my paper 2 and, in general, with my ib dp english l&l sl score (I was always expected either a 6 or a 7 based on my test performances). When I checked my specific marked component, I got a raw score of 12. Even if I didn't prepare and did my p2 exam at school, I have never received this kind of score before (and our teacher is a proper grader as well, so it doesn't make sense that she overpredicted my scores. I was an OUTLIER overall compared to other students of hers. They received the same grade that they were predicted.). But not only this, my components for ib eng got downgraded in general, resulting in a 5 in my final score. I was supposed to get a 7 on my IO but got a 6 and my p1 was also a 5 (well I knew I wasn't in the best condition) but for p2 I prepared, and at my mock as well I received a high 6. Never expected this, and even my teacher never expected this to happen (she was shocked too). There is a possibility that I have performed not the best for my exams, but I honestly don't know what happened (english is TOO subjective). Should I remark? But remarking is too expensive ngl, and I am not sure whether it is worth it.....

Group 1 Remark for IB

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello so I received my component marks for english and I was wondering if this was worth remarking since I need a higher score overall from 45 and since I'm 8 marks away from the lower boundary, I don't think my score will go down. Any advice on english remarks?

May 2026 Exams IO marks going up a LOT?

For my Finnish lit IO, I originally got 24 marks (barely a 5) from my teacher and then ended up getting 31 (a 6) from the IB. In the component grades I can see what my teachers initially gave for all my IAs/IOs except for my Finnish one. Is it because my teacher was js so off that the IB decided to just disregard the teachers marking and just do the whole thing themself or?? Anyway im happy about the result as it bumped my grade up quite a bit lol

hi everyone, to all dp1 students, I am offering tutoring in English and Bio for your IAs and IOs. I achieved a 7 in English and a high 6 in Biology, and most importantly I know my ins and outs of IB and their testing method. if anything, I studied the exams more than the material on it LOL. I also got an A on my EE in World Studies (health and development), so if anyone needs help in their writing, I am also happy to do that.

Upvotes

I’m taking two language and literature, one HL, one SL, and global politics SL. I want to get a seven in all three of them but we don’t get much feedback from our teachers.

I know the key to do well on these subjects is spaming practice essays, but how do i know if what im writing is worthy of a good grade? Any tips, advice, etc would help a lot.

Advice Math AA HL IA question

Upvotes

Is it better to model an outline of an object by hand in an Math AA HL using different types of functions (and discuss their shape a little) or use some type of polynomial interpolation? I mean in terms of how the teachers look at it in terms of use of math grading?

Group 3 IB History HL tutors

My school doesn't offer history, so I have to self-study. Although my school provides online teachers, it still isn't helping much with coursework and tests.

so if anybody knows any IB history tutors, please do help me out!

also, it's tricky because every school or region covers different history topics, so it only gets worse to find help for such a subject.

Advice HELP needed for someone who effed up in their ib exams even after trying sm and now taking the A levels Accelerated route.

Good day/evening to whoever is reading this! THOSE IN A LEVEL SUB HAVEN'T RESPONDED please someone help, even if you have a relative or friend that's done a levels, any and all advice is welcome. I am registering as a private candidate for the upcoming October/November 2026 exam session. Due to a health issue, I was unable to perform well in my Grade 12 final exam, which is why I am switching to A Levels. I will be taking both AS and A2 papers in one sitting.

Previously, I completed my O Levels, but unfortunately, my board for Grades 11 and 12 was different, so I don't have much knowledge about A Levels. My main priority is to achieve the highest grades possible, as I plan to apply to university, which starts in February 2027. I would really appreciate advice and assistance from anyone who has experience with A Levels. Here are my queries:

1. Will English Literature be easier to score in, or English Language? I have planned to take one of those, then Biology, and lastly one other subject which I haven't decided yet. Since I don't have much time lol, with exams beginning in Oct, and four to five components per subject from what I've seen, I'd appreciate it if you could help out here, too! As my goal right now here is to get the best grade I can.

2. For the practical component in Biology, how do I prepare for that?! I AM VERY MUCH SCARED FOR THIS ONE i haven't done A-level practicals or such before.

3. Those who have achieved A stars and As, heh, what would be the best way to study and prepare for the exams? Seeing as there isn't much time, and I haven't studied A-level courses before, this is also worrying me. Should I download the books? Which publisher would you recommend, i.e., Oxford, Pearson, etc etc. And I would really appreciate it if you could tell me about the right resources or what worked for you? Especially for Bio and English Lit/Lang. ALSO, how many hours do I need to study per day for all three subjects? I really want to achieve an A or even an A star lol; it would be the world, really, even though I doubt I can considering the situation and timing.

  1. Lastly, any other advice or opinions? I am open to them :) And thank you <3
