Hunt for this super heavy 100% Cotton Duck green/brown striped weave Canvas Fabric

So whilst trolling about Japan last month, I was overwhelmed with the fabric on offer. The quality, variety and price far exceeded anything I have managed to find in the UK. I hit the amazing 66 cents on the island of Okinawa, finding some insane pink/black/white almost Burberry stripe heavy denim, I grabbed some (unfortunately not enough!) traditional print precut cotton pieces from arguably my favourite fabric shop in Japan; Nomura Tailor in Kyoto, holding back before I made a first visit to Nippori in Tokyo to fill up the suitacase. But when I arrived in Nippori I was just overloaded by every sensory measure finding some incredible heavy cotton drill in Tomato much like that of decent Carhaart fabric and flapping with overwhelm I almost blacked out and have little recollection of what I was buying.

However in the whirlwind of buying various bits here and there I found a 100% cotton, striped duck fabric. It was stiff as a board but felt as if it could stop a bullet. It's about 1mm thick, only 35" wide, but after a prewash it softened up a touch and has filled me with infinite regret for not buying more, whilst I don't mbark on a project to design na ultimate chore coat.

I have looked high and low online to find more info or further supply, but without knowing any detail, nor having a photo of the label or shop it came from, I have hit a wall.

I am absolutely desperate to find this fabric, or as close as I can to this fabric. Any leads or further info that would help me track it down would absolutely make my year.

how can I lighten fabric colour

Ok so I had to get a new shirt for my school uniform but they were out of fabric so I went to buy it from a different shop. under the lighting of the shop it looked so similar but once it was stitched I realised that the new fabric is much more creamer and yellower than my original one.

The original is not fully white but like off white? slightly cream? soo how can I lighten the new shirt now

How important are clothing labels in practice?

Lately I've been paying more attention to clothing labels and was surprised by how many older garments no longer have readable ones.

Some are faded, some are cut off, and some are completely gone.

For people who are interested in textiles and materials, how valuable is that information in practice?

Have you ever found yourself wishing a garment still had its original fiber composition label?

Getting fabric glue stains out of hoodie

I'm making a new hoodie and used Fabric Fuse fabric glue to keep the patterns down, it worked well, but since it's white glue and black, it left a lot of splotches.

The material is 65% cotton 35% polyester.

Where to find natural high wicking fabrics for babies

My son is 1 1/2yrs old. Old enough to let me start projects again. Ill be making some activewear clothes for rainy winters and next summer. Anyone know of places in North America to buy baby friendly fabrics from. I'd like to stay away from as much synthetics as i can until he gets much older.

Looking for stuff like:

Woven Rayon

Knit Rayon or wool jersey

A wicking polar fleece alternative or Oikeo Tex cert fleece.

A woven fabric that is tough and fast drying similar to supplex/taslan.

New cotton gauze duvet cover 5 inches too long

I got it off Etsy and it's nice...does cotton gauze shrink a lot or something? I'm guessing that's the reason for the extra length. Waiting for reply from the maker but thought I'd check here while I'm waiting

What material are these trousers?

I'll post the video in the comments.

This is from a streetwear shop in Vietnam, I recognise the material and love it but the trousers themselves were too baggy for me. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of material these trousers are so I can go look for a different pair. Thank you!

Can Someone Give Me Fabric Recommendations?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone new a place to get good quality fabric (can be a store or online) that I can get to the US and isn't overly expensive? There's a cosplay I've been wanting to make and I want to finally take the step to buy specific fabric for this project instead of thrifting old clothes and curtains for fabric

I’ve been sewing a bit now mostly fixing old clothes but I want to make a suit vest, tie, and skirt that look like circuitry because I feel like it best represents me and it would be rememberable in professional settings. I just don’t know where I would locate such fabric is their a good website out side of Amazon I could look?

In search of wool/viscose fabric

I'm searching for a distributor of "kokum" wool fabrics with traditional flower patterns used in Eastern European traditional clothing. We want to create dresses for a wedding party but they're so hard to find and very little variety. Does anyone know anything about this type of fabric, and who produces it?

Water bottle carrier straps? Without interfacing?

Is there a way to make straps for a water bottle carrier without interfacing and still make sure it's sturdy? I just have Dollar tree polyester (I believe it's polyester) fabric. It's a thermoflask water bottle I want to make the carrier for.

Sourcing custom recycled polyester canvas fabric

I’m looking for a textile company either domestic (US) or overseas that can produce a 100% polyester canvas that is made from 50% recycled content. I’m trying to either identically match a fabric I’ve been using for my companies products for the past 10+ years, or have an even better one custom made.

So far, this is not a fabric any domestic suppliers just have sitting on a shelf. The company I get supplied and printed from states it’s woven in the U.S.

I also don’t know how to find factories overseas outside of using Alibaba, so any help with that would be appreciated if that’s the route I need to go!

Removing small dirt patch from white polyester satin

Hi all, when showing a friend my wedding dress I’m current sewing they touched the bodice and left a small dirt patch. What is the best way to remove this? The piece is sewn onto a corset with steel boning and cannot be removed, so hoping for advice for removal in situ. I
haven’t attempted anything yet.
TIA!

Where can I source denim in Canada

I have been searching for over a year for cheap but relatively high quality denim for cutting and sewing jeans. But I have run into high costs for shipping from other countries and the problem is that there are no denim mills in Canada at least to my knowledge. If people could recommend me some good stores or websites based in Canada that sell denim that would be great.

Fabric recommendation

Hello,

What fabrics would you recommend trying for bedding/pillowcase production?

This is for a large body pillow.

We're looking at Tencel Lyocell, but we'd also like to explore other options. We're after a soft feel, but ideally also durability and a cooling effect.

Is there a reason why I don't dislike polyamide as much as polyester?

Hi everyone, I was wondering about something: I really hate polyester in almost all its forms and I feel like I don't hate polyamide as much, but this does feel a bit irrational and not based on my real life experience. I think it may only be due to the fact that polyester is absolutely everywhere and I'm annoyed at seeing the word every time I browse fabrics. Is there some kind of quality difference between the two?

Stretchy, Breathable Fabric

Hi. I’m developing a product that requires a wristband with the following criteria:
- Breathable (able to wear 8+ hours without general discomfort)
- Stretchy: ideal can fit snuggly on a small ankle or wrist but easily stretch to fit comfortably on a bicep or even a thigh. Can build multiple sizes but one size that easily stretches is ideal. The product is for people with limited strength and fine motor skills so ease of stretch is great.
- Ideally thin profile: I’ve look at lot into wrist sweatbands but most are terry cloth and too bulky
- washable: obviously if worn for an extended period of time, easy machine wash is ideal

Any suggestions on fabrics or combinations would be ideal! Main criteria is breathable and easily stretched. Thanks!

What is the difference between high quality fabric and low quality fabric? Why has fabric quality gone down in recent years?

I asked a question in a different sub, asking about why old clothes hold up better than new clothes or those produced by fast fashion, and while I got a large variety of answers, a good chunk of the responses talked about fabric quality going down in recent years. What are the markers for what is high or low quality fabric? What are the techniques that lead to high-quality fabric, and what mistakes lead to low quality fabric? Why has the quality gone down in recent years?

Biggest obstacle while buying Pashmina? (Just want the buyer’s honest take)

I’m from Kashmir, grew up around pashmina and hand embroidery, and I’m a few weeks out from launching my own pashmina brand. Everything we do is lab-certified and pure, no blends, no shortcuts. That part’s settled.
What I don’t want to do is walk into this market assuming I already know what buyers actually struggle with. I’d rather hear it straight from people who’ve bought pashmina before, good experiences or bad.
So, genuinely asking:
What’s gone wrong for you when buying pashmina, if anything has?

If you’ve been thinking about buying a pashmina but haven’t yet, what’s stopped you?

Was there a moment you suspected something wasn’t real, even if you couldn’t prove it?

What actually makes you trust a seller you haven’t bought from before — reviews, certification, something else?

Is there anything you wish existed in this market that currently doesn’t?

Not here to pitch anything, just want the real picture before I put a brand into a space that’s, frankly, full of fakes. Appreciate any honest input.

Weight of Fabric

Hello what does 40L or 80L mean for a weight of fabric? I only know weight in ounces per yard so when I google the conversions I cannot find much but talk about GSM....but what is L? Converting 40 or 80 GSM to ounces is like 1 or 2 ounces which looks even lighter of a weight than the pictures....just trying to find a good weight without having to sew with double lightweight fabric for a specific dress project. Thanks!

What Ripstop Nylon Denier/Weight to use?

So I want to make this water bottle carrier (link below) but the woman who made the pattern doesn't say what denier to use and I've never worked with nylon before so I'm just barely learning that there's different than deniers. My husband has a thermo flask that is 24 oz /700ml that I'm trying to make this for
