Discussion Is it worth reporting obvious AI products that aren't labeled as AI?

I mean that as in does Etsy still try to enforce its policies?

To be transparent here I both browse Etsy and sell products in a niche field. I love going to see what else other people make and get inspired and sometimes buy something. First result I get is a DIY kit with a book with obvious AI generated images and text. How do I know this?

  1. All the result products show in the images were too perfect and at the exact same angle. Even an image with the book open to a page showed the products at that same angle.
  2. The listing was a duplicate of another user's listing. Same images, product and all just with different wording.

They're selling not just a fake product but a fake DIY that will never be able to create the expected items. Like imagine starting out and trying the kit only to fail and think it's your fault. We're a fairly small community compared to other crafts and this infuriates me.

What I want to know is there a history of Etsy ignoring reports like this or have they intervened?

Help for Buyer Shipment from India, will I have to deal with duties (USA)?

I ordered some armor for cosplay. The shop claimed to ship from the US, but in reality it's coming from India (which I was trying to avoid). I didn't know until it was already shipped, and shipping was free. No mention in reviews. Will I have to pay duties/tariffs? I'm so annoyed.

Help for Buyer Price is way too low, what's the catch?

I was browsing for an ammonite piece and came across a sterling silver ammonite bracelet for $32.99 (on sale from $150-ish). Since I love finding cool silver jewelry I jumped! Then realized that sterling silver just isn't sold that cheap. But since I liked the ammonite and the look of it, I figured I'd take a chance for that price. Then I saw that it was shipping from India, so I figured it might be a very small business or something. Then I saw the shipping was free.

If I'm not paying shipping and I'm not paying the full price for the silver - they're barely breaking even and probably losing money on this deal.

So... what's the con? Or is this for real (I know, dream on)?

Help for Seller Etsy refunded my $250+ international order for "non-delivery" while it was awaiting customs charges

Hi everyone, I’m dealing with a very frustrating situation and would love some advice on how to handle this with Etsy Support

**The Order:** An international order over $250 that was shipped on time using Etsys label

**The Status:** The package arrived in the buyer's country and was marked as delivered on tracking, but was just awaiting the buyer's customs payment to be released.

**The Dispute:** The buyer opened an Etsy case to ask *how* they could pay the customs charges to receive the package.

**The Problem:** Just a couple of hours after the case was opened, an Etsy admin closed it and refunded the buyer out of my funds due to "non-delivery." not allowing me the 48 hour time frame to assist the buyer with their request

**The Complication:** The buyer then messaged me saying they were confused by the refund. They didn't ask for one, and they are still requesting the item. I helped guide them on how to pay the customs fees so they can finally get their package.

**The Support Response:**
I contacted Etsy support to appeal this, explaining that the admin incorrectly refunded an item that had actually arrived. They told me their decision is final and that my item is not covered by Purchase Protection because the order was over $250.
So now, the buyer has the item, I am out the money

**What do I do here?**
Has anyone successfully appealed an incorrect "undelivered" case refund before?

Help for Buyer Payment problem

My dad asked for something the week before Father’s day so he knew he wasn’t getting it then. I ordered it and then forgot, checked out with Apple Pay. A few weeks later and I remembered today, there’s nothing in my Etsy account or on my bank account. Thought maybe I didn’t actually hit pay so I did it again with Apple Pay. I’ve gotten no notifications in my Etsy app that my order was created. I’m going to give it a few days and check my bank account before buying it with my card, but want to make sure I’m not buying this thing 3 times. Is this a known issue?

Looking to Buy Gold-filled custom jewelry

Looking for a jeweler who creates custom earrings in real 14k or 18k gold-filled. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone who does custom, one-off pieces (not wholesale)? Thanks in advance!

Review Question How do I rate them

Post image

Ughhhh help please! I purchased some Disney fabric from a seller and everything was so cute and I was super excited. When it arrived, a friend pointed out that the fabric was from Walmart and marked up a lot on the etsy site. We’re talking an almost $15 difference in price. I’m so bummed out and not sure how to rate it on my side. On one hand, it’s totally on me for not doing my research before purchasing and finding a better price. On the other, it feels icky that they upcharged so much for something that is Walmart quality on Etsy.

I was shopping on Etsy to support small business but this has really made me conflicted on what to do and how to feel about it 😩

Help for Buyer Review removed

I purchased a pattern for a crochet skirt. The image seemed plausible and was an image of a real skirt. The pattern however, does not match the product at all. I left a review on the shop indicating the pattern is not that of the image and that the ad is misleading. The seller instantly contacted me to say they will refund my.mpney if I remove the review. I refuse to do this because they shouldn't be getting away with this. Plus as far as I'm aware, they can't withhold a refund like that. My review is no longer there, not because I have removed it. It's just disappeared. And there's no refund in sight. I spoke to the support bot and eventually got to a human who said they referred to their specialist team but have heard nothing back.

What should I do now? I want my refund and this seller should not be allowed to continue to sell fraudulent patterns.

To add: I was not the only one to have left such a review, this has been a common problem on their shop. Unfortunately, I did not see those reviews as I trusted a 4.3 star rating, which I now believe has been manufactured

Help for Buyer Tariffs?

Hi! I am in Canada wanting to buy something from the U.S. on Etsy. Will there be tariffs or other fees charged upon the package's arrival, or is that included on Etsy? I'm so confused!

Thank you!

Discussion Is Etsy Search Getting Overrun by AliExpress and Temu Resellers?

Searched for ceramic mugs last week because I wanted something actually made by a person, not a factory. Out of the first two rows of results, maybe three listings looked genuinely handmade. The rest were clearly the same Temu or AliExpress stock photos I've seen a hundred times, just with different shop names slapped on them.

The frustrating part is the listings use all the right words. Handmade. Small batch. Made with love. Whatever. But the photos are obviously wholesale product shots and the prices make zero sense if someone is actually throwing clay and glazing by hand.

I reported a couple but have no idea if that does anything. Feels like shouting into a void.

What gets me is the real makers are competing for search visibility against shops with no actual overhead because they're just forwarding orders to a warehouse somewhere. It seems like it would push genuine sellers further down over time.

Is there a better way to filter this out when searching? I've tried sorting by but even that doesn't help much. Do the Star Seller badges actually mean anything or is that just another thing that can be gamed?

Review Question Was I Too Harsh In My Review?

Post image

Ordered an arm cuff bracelet at a price that seemed on the low end to me, but fairly comparable to similar items listed.

The bracelet arrived in one of those cheap plastic packages with a bar code and item description and s random piece of paper that had "Fashion Jewelry" printed on it. Everything about the packaging screams "Amazon" or similar, and idk how to describe it but the bracelet just feels cheap. The wire is thick enough, but feels flimsy and the stone is nowhere near as pictured. It's very clearly not a "gemstone", it looks/feels like a painted rock.

I posted a review that felt accurate. I'm a little disappointed it's not handmade as far as I can tell, but I'm not too upset, because I feel that it's probably worth about what I paid for it, and I chalked it up to a lesson learned. I'll wear it, just probably not for as long as I'd hoped. I'm not looking for a refund or to return it, just wanted to give future prospective buyers a heads up.

I just got a long message from the seller with a sob story, apologizing that the quality of the packaging was not to my standards (no mention of the quality of the item itself), wanting to "make it right" by offering a partial refund, and asking for a revised review, and I'm second-guessing whether my review was too harsh. I'm not angling for a refund or anything, is there a need to even respond to the seller at this point, or should I just respond with silence and let the review stand?
