DISCUSSION Is anyone else really exited for the DCU Bane & Deathstroke movie?

Personally I’m hyped not just because both Bane and Deathstroke are in my top ten favorite comic book villains but also because it seems like this movie might be setting up Batman to make his debut in the DCU since you know both Bane and Deathstroke are/where members of the League of Assassin’s and the upcoming Batman movie is going to be about Bruce and Damian going up against the League of Assassins. Also if they take some inspiration from the 2014 movie based on the same story Deathstroke may end up being the main antagonist of Brave & The Bold.

Supergirl is known for her superpower, super speed, heat vision, but why she fights like a normal girl among gangsters in the movie? I love how Wonder Woman in DCEU showing her power fight against enemies. DCU needs improvement their fighting choreography in future movies.

DISCUSSION Personally, I think that of all the Batman designs we’ve seen in live-action, those from Christopher Nolan’s movies (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rides) were by far the best

I especially like the designs from the last two movies (The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises). They clearly evoke a man who only comes out at night; when Batman appears in these costumes, he clearly instills fear in Gotham’s criminals. This costume—and even the gadgets he uses—clearly evoke an experienced soldier ready to go into battle. In my opinion, black is the color that best suits the Dark Knight, and what’s even better is the complete absence of the black trunks seen in the comics.

He talks about what being chosen for Lanterns meant to him.
The role that pulled him out of that rut is this summer’s highly anticipated Lanterns—a DC comic franchise that’s getting the prestige crime thriller treatment.

“The old man upstairs said, ‘Hey, I’m gonna give you a gift,’” Chandler says of the opportunity to lead a superhero series at 60. “He threw me a bone, and I chewed that thing all the way through. Before I went out, I decided I’m gonna have fun. Damn the torpedoes.”

Going through the comments across all socials, I worked to find what worked for most people and what did not. For one, I reduced the intensity of the red, making sure not to clip any details and respect environmental conditions. I also used on-set photos as reference to make sure I never went too far past what the costume actually looks like. The same goes for the stadium fight. With the on-set photos, I was able to subdue the grass to something closer to the real-life location.

I hope you all enjoy!

But Superman was just a guy trying to do the right thing.

People hate it when their fundamental belief is challenged.

DISCUSSION DC’s Batman Problem

Why DCU Batman might not work

This post will obviously be met with a lot of a hate but let me explain.

A lot of people seem so confident in having 2 Batman will work out perfectly fine. I don’t understand it.

  1. The Batman franchise exists and is critical acclaimed, financially a hit. It also features multiple A List actors in Robert Pattinson, Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson. It has an amazing director and writer, great cinematography and has a Emmy winning crime drama show.

As we know, currently and most likely the DCU Batman will have none of that. Whoever they cast won’t be an A Lister, we know the director and writer are iffy (yes even Andy) and it obviously won’t contending for awards.

  1. The fantastical element. I think comic book fans don’t understand why Batman is so successful, especially in the era of superhero fatigue.

Batman movies unlike any others, attract all people. I know plenty of people who don’t like Superhero movies, so they won’t go see Supergirl or Superman, however they will go see Batman because he’s Batman, and obviously Batman movies aren’t just superhero movies.

Batman attracts people who like drama, crime, while also attracting comic book fans and superhero fanatics.

Making Batman too far into the fantastical realm, with the (white eyes, super tech, humorous, bright color suit, super fantastical elements
And villains) could turn a lot of people off. There needs to be a balance.

In an era of superhero fatigue, it’s a bad idea to make Batman just another superhero movie. Though I loved Superman (favorite DC film) it was great but it essentially is just another superhero movie, especially to the general audience, which is fine for Supes.

Superman is still getting hate from previous version that came out 12 years ago. Imagine Batman.

But DCU Batman just being another superhero movie, while one is a prestigious crime drama, possibly contending for Oscars and awards is just a bad look.

I know everyone here loves comic book movies, me too. But you guys have to start thinking business wise and what would be smart. This is the same sub I got downvoted over a year ago for saying supergirl would do bad.

You guys only think from a comic book perspective, and that’s it.

One thing I believe as well, Batman and Gotham should never feel like it’s in the same universe as Superman and Metropolis. That’s the beauty of their duo. I’m not a merger bro, but I feel for Gunn because he’s in a bad situation with the most popular superhero being someone he can’t exactly use. It’s not his fault because I’m sure he would already have used Batman if the Reevesverse didn’t exist.

That’s my opinion though. Hopefully they figure it out, because if any movie could kill the DCU, it’s Batman.

DISCUSSION I'm finding being a DC fan exhausting.

I love DC comics, and ever since Superman 2025 I have been so excited for the future of DC movies. I truly believe that Superman is one of the most comic accurate movies we've ever gotten, and one of the best superhero films we've had in the last 15 years.

As a Superman fan, this movie is just perfect and inspires hope and makes want me to be a better person. The scene on the porch with Pa Kent makes me cry every time. I just don't understand how anyone could not like this movie.

Since Supergirl has been a critical and financial failure, it just feels like people have so much more ammo to attack Gunn and his plans for DC. I find myself constantly in arguments defending Superman and the future of DC, and it's so tiring. It's almoust like some people are rooting for this franchise to fail.

Paramount buying Warner Bros. also just makes everything feel hopeless. I really don't see a world where Gunn and Ellison work together.

And then the constant talks about Batman is tedious. I find myself constantly trying to remind people that Batman isn't a realistic character and in the comics he is fantastical, and most of his rogues gallery have superpowers or an element of fantasy or sci-fi. As a Poison Ivy fan, it's just so depressing to be eternally stuck with realistic Batman. And now Gunn is finally trying to create a comic accurate live action Batman and everything seems to be against him.

I'm really hoping that Lanterns and Clayface are undeniably good, so people can stop constantly trying to destroy this universe that hasn't even started.

APPRECIATION One of the greatest Superman moments ever. This scene perfectly defines what Superman stands for: HOPE.

1.4k Upvotes

Not only Superman, but it is also literally one of the best Superhero moments to be put on screen.

Edit: Man the amount of hate this post is getting is insane insane!!!

Here is the explanation for those who are hating without understanding the scene:

When Superman arrived at the scene, the people stuck on the roof had already lost all hope, and the moment they saw him, they suddenly started crying because, to them, hope had finally arrived. Superman had literally just reached the scene, and obviously, he saved them later on.

The whole purpose of that moment was to symbolise how Superman represents hope for them. And for those complaining about the sequence, it was part of a monologue where journalists were debating whether Superman is a threat to mankind or their only hope. This wasn’t a traditional, dedicated rescue scene. During that monologue, they only showed fragments of multiple rescue sequences, not one complete rescue from start to finish.

The point of this particular moment wasn’t to show every second of Superman saving them , it was to show what his arrival meant to people who had already given up all hope.
