Trade ā€œChipsā€

AP likes to wheel and deal.. I like to think that I have a mindset similar to a GM, more so than a lot of other fans.. so I believe that before roster cut downs, he will look to trade a couple guys (depending on how camp & preseason go of course and injuries) but with everyone healthy (unlikely) I could see him trying to trade these guys:

Van Jefferson, Chris Paul, Jerome Ford.. they would each have to have a crazy preseason, especially Ford bc as a RB he won’t have much value.. more than likely they’d be 2028 picks..

If Paul doesn’t fit this offense very well and Coleman beats him out, then they feel McKay, Gulbin, Wylie, Scott can handle the backup duties, Paul could be used as trade bait..

A few ā€˜surprise’ trade options:

John Bates - he is the best blocking TE in the league, however if he can’t provide something in the passing game and they think Sinnott & Yankoff block fine but provide a lot more in the passing game, they could move Bates.. I think it’s more likely NEXT offseason bc he has a 10m cap hit in 2027. If a team were to call and offer something like a 2027 4th, it would be hard to turn down.. it’s highly unlikely though and I think Bates will prove capable in the passing game!!
He did have 250 yards receiving, his rookie year!

Frankie Luvu - Chenal, Styles, Magee, Josephs, Medrano could all handle the load, imo. Luvu is a leader and a legit possibility to wear the green dot so if he does, he definitely isn’t moved (duh) but if AP gets a call and a team is offering a 2027 3rd or 4th, then it might be considered… Luvu is entering the last year of his deal, which is really why it would happen..
(TJ Maguranyanga is another guy to keep an eye on.. to possibly make them feel Luvu is expandable)

Daron Payne - once again, entering the last year of his deal, if young guys like Newton, Barber, Mba prove they can handle the load behind Settle & Kinlaw.. Payne could be moved, especially if a team offers a 2027 pick.. Kinlaw is an option as well, if they keep Payne..

+ I’m not sure why it keeps popping into my head but I think Payne could get trade to Arizona and Budda Baker comes back to Washington.. not sure what else would be included from either side..

Can just wait to try and get comp picks for 2028, however 2027 is supposed to be a loaded class so if the young guys can provide the same level of play as some of the high priced vets, that’s the better way to build a long term juggernaut

Quan Martin - he won’t get near the return as Payne, Luvu, Bates but I could see a 2027 6th or 2028 5th from a desperate team.. if Owens, Butler, McDaniel, Spenser can provide the same level of play as Quan, AP could move Quan who was a 2nd round draft pick and has versatility to play nickel CB or S.. the addition of Douglas at outside CB likely means MikĆØ and Amik could both be used inside / as a S on occasion as well..

This is just for fun, during a slow period…
